CHAPTER THREE

3| Enzo

My heart thundered in my chest when I heard of the Alpha, Corey had started crying and I was already getting tired and confused. I looked at the two men, one of them holding Corey and the other looking at me.

Suddenly, people walked into the room, catching me off guard but the two men remained the same. I started whining as they came closer, the fear not leaving my body.

They seized me and I whimpered at the force they used, holding my arms like I was some artifact.

“One person should take her, she’s not that strong,” The man who had promised me death from Alpha Enzo, spoke up.

The others left me in the arms of one. He turned to the person with my brother who was already soothing his tears.

“Stop that Norman, carry the child, let’s go.” He said strictly and Norman listened, raising my brother lightly.

However, I was given a different fate as I was pushed out, Corey stared at me from Norman's shoulders and I tried not to let my stinging tears show.

I smiled in agony and he gazed at me in confusion, turning his head to the right. “I’m fine, Corey,” I assured and he nodded, playing with Norman's red hair. That sight was soon taken away from me as I was thrown into an SUV, I sighed knowing that the harm in my life had not stopped, till now.

I couldn’t cry.

The car moved forward, taking us away. I stayed straight, staring onward with no noise. I couldn’t try to, that was until something pierced my neck, tapping me out of the universe.

My body was stiff and I couldn’t move. I couldn’t try too.

The sound of chains woke me up and my eyes shook in pain at the sudden tightness around my ankle and wrists. They drooped open slowly, as the blur started to drift out.

I coughed, a hot liquid leaving my mouth. There were some male voices and I paused silently, taking in the chains that held my ankle and the burns on them. Why were they so hot?

“She's not one of us,” One whispered as I saw their heads both turn in my direction, I opened my mouth to breathe and the choking air attacked my throat causing me to squeeze my eyes in pain.

“She is getting affected by the silver.” The other one said in a negative tone.

“She’s not one of us. However, the kid they found with her is. A powerful one at that.”

Corey?

Corey!

I forgot all about the plan of staying quiet and moved, groaning when the chains on my ankle burned.

The two guards stopped talking and looked at me as I looked down, eyes widening when I saw my blood. I was the one creating a puddle. I was bleeding, profusely.

Tears left my eyes as the fear of death increased in me. “Help me, please,” I begged. “Help Corey.”

A large bang hit the cell walls and I could hear the echoes of voices, coming through. The footsteps suddenly stopped at my cell and there was a deafening silence.

“Clean her up, the Alpha wants to see her.”

There were sounds of chains and keys and soon, my gate was dragged open. I screamed in pain as they held me up almost carelessly. The cold breeze wafted through my skin as I came face to face with the window.

Soon my hands were freed and I was turned over, soft hands grasping my jaw. “She’s bleeding badly. Davina would not happy,” I heard and I articulated the voice clearly and his face blurred out.

The man that held my brother.

I couldn’t stop myself from holding his shirt and he didn’t bother to remove my hands as the guards came nearer, he raised his hands, telling them to stop.

“Please, he’s the only person I have,” I started but he held my hands soothingly. I paused suddenly staring into his ash eyes.

“To avoid dying, don’t hold me. You’re committing a taboo. He’s fine,” He said, removing my hand softly. “My mate is strict. She’s gonna be mad at me if she finds blood on me.” He said that as stepped out of the cell.

The guards entered immediately, taking me out. I walked slowly behind him in fear, I didn’t know what these people were but they said my Corey is like them. And for some reason, that made me feel safe for him. They wouldn’t kill their own right? They were not as evil as my innkeeper.

Another thing was, they said I was not normal and it showed that everything around me was not normal, their chains burnt my skin, I coughed up blood.

The sunlight scarred my eyes as we came outside and I covered my eyelids, even though there were hands-on me, they let me. I looked down at the beautiful flowers beneath me and engraved them in my brain so I would have a pretty picture in my mind as they killed me.

Soon, we entered through a door and our footsteps started becoming louder. After what seemed like more seconds, we came out through another door and I started hearing whispers as we walked through the fields. I heard growls from afar but didn’t look up anyway. I didn’t want to know, I was simply ready to die. I hoped that they would let me see Corey first.

“Stop,” Norman said and they all halted, “This is your limit, release her,” He said and they did, moving back from me. “Follow me,” He continued and I obeyed, walking as fast as my legs could carry me. My breath shook, leaving my mouth in shivers because of the cold, how did they survive here?

We got to a large clearing and I heard grunts before me, it seemed like a training section. Norman grasped my hand, yanking me forward and I followed, light as anything.

“Focus.”

The voice shook my core as I listened to it, it was cold and brutal. It made me feel so scared that I was not sure if I could breathe. I looked up in fear and dashed my eyes down when I saw a bloodied man fly across the clearing. The scene made me almost puke and my lips shook in pain. I didn’t want to look like him. Was that how they would kill me? Rather the man?

“Gamma Norman,” The voice came through again making me stare down, “Who is that?”

He pulled me from his back to his side and by that time, I was already breathing hard and sobbing. I mumbled words of prayers and stayed put, waiting to fly across the field.

“The strange human living in the woods Alpha,” He answered and the man started towards us, moving painfully slow. I stared down for my safety. For my life.

“Look at me,” The power seeped through making me raise my head shakily. I gulped as I took him in, his soft pink lips were stained with a bit of blood and his blue eyes were icy. He studied me as if drinking me in. Soon, a beautiful smile embraced his face as he held my jaw up, causing me to look at him. My eyes widened when I saw his fangs on both sides of his teeth. Like a wolf.

“Is this some joke?” He asked as his smile turned cruel.

“Please don’t,” I started, begging, causing him to shake his head at me in spite. “Let me see him first. Let me see Corey. I would do anything,” He squeezed my lips, making it pucker up and there was a hint of disgust and pain in his eyes.

Sparks ran through my veins, as he looked at me, making my knees buckle a bit, I wasn’t sure if it was out of fear or want and I also wasn’t sure of why I was attracted to the person who was supposed to kill me.

“You slut, who have you sleeping with?” He asked, throwing me off balance, my eyes widened in fear at the accusation. “The moon goddess probably thinks I’m some joke. Bringing a mother as a mate to me. Who is the father of that bastard? I’ll kill him and kill the child!”

Norman's eyes widened in fear as the man's hand moved from my cheek to my throat, holding it firmly but not painfully. Still, I choked, the fear was enough to choke me. “Enzo stop-“ He started but his hands tightened instead, jealousy showing on his features.

“Shut it, Norman. I never wanted a mate anyway.” He said, throwing me to the ground. I coughed out, finally happy to speak.

“He's my baby brother. Please let me see him-“ I started and the man stopped surprised.

“He’s what?” He asked, his anger searing down but the disgust remained, probably because of how weak I looked.

“My baby-“

I didn’t finish because I passed out. Not before hearing those last words.

“This thing is mine.”

The disgust around them.

I’m not yours. I wanted to say.

I’ll never be.
