Freedom

After hours of applying for jobs, she sits down in the bar.

“What can I get you?” The barman asks.

“Just a coke please.” Sure, she is in a pub, but she is driving, so a Coke will do. She watches as he walks off to get her drink. A few moments later, he walks back and hands it to her. Sitting she drinks it, there are a few other clubs she can try to get into, but she is finished for today.

“Can I buy you another?” Turning, she looks towards the man, her head shaking. “Nothing intended. I promise not to expect anything, maybe a good conversation that isn’t my friends slurring their words.” He laughs, pointing towards the table, his friends clearly past the point of drunk.

“Go on then, but then I need to leave.” She watches as he sits down next to her. Ordering the drinks, he smiles slightly.

“If you’re waiting for someone, I can leave you?” He looks at her.
