Kent's eyes darkened, and before I could blink, he swept me into his arms, taking the lead and kissing me with a growing intensity.

Under my teasing, his breath grew heavier, and his hand slid into the opening of my collar, his movements bold and reckless.

My body tingled under his touch, and I couldn't help but let out a soft moan.

"Kent, you haven't forgotten the promise you made, have you?" I asked, my voice a teasing whisper.

He chuckled softly. "Don't worry. There's nothing I could ever forget, least of all my promise to you."

My blouse had already slipped down to my waist, hanging loosely on him as I breathed shallowly, feeling the warmth of his proximity. When I stopped taking the lead, he was too eager to wait any longer. His hands reached for his trousers.

At that precise moment, Trevor's call came through.

In an instant, the fog of desire lifted from my mind. I shook myself back to reality, slipped from Kent's embrace, and grabbed the phone.

How did I find out? Oh, it wasn't hard. Rummaging through his travel bag, I stumbled upon the evidence: a pack of half-used strawberry-flavored sheaths and, tucked between his shirts, a pair of lace panties. He, my once-devoted husband, who claimed to love me above all else, was sneaking around with another woman. The moment the truth hit me, it felt like the sky caved in.But I didn't let it show. I carried on as if nothing had happened. I even went to see her. She was every bit the temptress: seductive eyes that promised sin, a lithe figure that seemed to dance even when she stood still, and curves designed to ensnare men. Wearing black silk stockings, she could sway to the beat in a bar and leave every man in the room spellbound. Those with even the slightest lapse in self-control might lose themselves completely. So, this was what my cold, prim, and proper husband secretly craved?I always knew women out there wanted him. He was handsome, fit, and a rising star in Oak

I switched on the hidden surveillance on my phone, and there it was—Trevor's face lit up with a teasing smile. "Cassidy, it's only been a day, and look at you—already so eager," he said. He was on a video call with Cassidy. Though I couldn't see her, her voice slithered through the speakers like a siren's song. "A woman's charm is in her boldness. Without that, how can a man fall for her?" Her tone carried a hook, pulling him closer even through the screen. "Trevor, have you missed me?" she cooed, accompanied by the faint rustle of fabric. Trevor straightened in his chair, his deep-set eyes darkening like stormy waters. Whatever Cassidy was up to on the other end of the line, it had his full attention. He adjusted the volume to its maximum, and her sultry moans filled the room. "Trevor… Trevor…" His expression remained composed, but his body betrayed him. The smile at the corner of Trevor's lips faded ever so slightly. "Cassidy, she's my wife," he said, his tone cold and resolute. "You've overstepped." I watched his sharp, chiseled face as he said it, and the irony of it all wasn't lost on me. Ah, how considerate of him to still acknowledge me as his wife. But then again, if I didn't hold even that small place in his heart, my plans wouldn't have a leg to stand on. This fact, inconvenient as it may seem, was one I intended to use to my full advantage. Hearing his stern words, Cassidy quickly shifted gears, her voice turning sugary with a touch of practiced coyness. "Oh, Trevor, you're so fierce it scared me!" she pouted. "Fine, let's just say I misspoke." Then, with a flirtatious lilt, she added, "By the way, Trevor, I learned a new move. Want to try it with me?" Trevor cast her a sideways glance, his lips curving slightly in musement. "Sure," he replied. From the sounds that followed through the video feed, it was clear Ca

The grand finale of the night's auction was unveiled—a fiery red ruby known as the Fortune Star. Its brilliance silenced the room, and every eye turned to admire it as the ultimate treasure of the evening. I nudged Trevor lightly. "Honey, I want that one." Without a moment's hesitation, Trevor raised his paddle and claimed it with a jaw-dropping bid of 40 million dollars. The gavel fell, sealing the deal. Across the room, Cassidy's face turned an unflattering shade of green. She could only stand there, helpless, as Trevor removed the pink diamond from my neck and replaced it with the resplendent Fortune Star. He studied the way the ruby gleamed against my skin and nodded approvingly. "Not bad." Feigning shyness, I nestled into his chest, completing the picture of a devoted wife. When the auction finally concluded, Trevor excused himself to use the restroom. Barely had he stepped away when Cassidy darted after him like a moth drawn to a flame. Ah, the games are about to be

However, it wasn't Lance stepping out of the car that arrived, but his wife—an iron-willed woman flanked by a cadre of strapping bodyguards. Her eyes scanned the vicinity like a hawk, and the moment they landed on the cowering figure of Cassidy tucked into the corner, she bellowed like a storm rolling down the hills. "There she is! That little hussy! Get her!" Her voice thundered. "Daring to seduce my husband? Let's see if I don't thrash her within an inch of her life!" Cassidy's eyes darted about like a hunted rabbit. She tried to make a run for it, but her feeble attempts were no match for the burly guards. They caught her with ease, pinning her to the ground. What followed wasn't a fight—it was a rout. Fists and accusations rained down, leaving Cassidy bruised, battered, and thoroughly humiliated. Passersby gathered, casting curious glances, though none stepped forward to intervene. They weren't ignorant of her reputation as the other woman, and pity wasn't in abundance. I

The next morning, I groggily rose from bed, my back sore from yesterday's... exertions. I found that the man I'd spent the night with was already gone, off to his office. I dressed quickly, grabbed a light breakfast, and headed out. I had business with Cassidy. I figured I might as well pay her a visit, add a little salt to her wounds, as it were. The driver, Burt, took me to the hospital. Once there, I asked the nurse for Cassidy's room number and made my way to find her. She was lying in bed, looking as though she hadn't slept a wink, her face pale and drawn. If there was ever a portrait of someone feeling utterly discarded, it was her. 'How does it feel, Cassidy?' I thought to myself. 'Being abandoned like this?' When she saw me, her eyes immediately darted past me, searching for something or someone. When she realized that Trevor wasn't following, she fixed me with a hateful look, her gaze burning with fury. "What do you want? Where is Trevor?" She was practically despe

I had once carried a child of mine and Trevor's, but the little one only stayed in my womb for four months before it left us, due to a chromosomal anomaly. I will never forget the pain of that day—of the abortion. The way the child came out, blood-soaked and shattered, was too much to bear, and I couldn't even bring myself to look at it. Trevor seemed to remember the past, his face twisted with pain. "Mia, don't," he said, his voice hoarse, "It was my fault. Believe me, I'll never—never do it again." "Mia, we'll have children again in the future. Just believe in me, okay?" "Look at me, please," he said.My eyes lowered as the tears fell, and this time, they weren't just for show. The painful memories rushed back and pierced my heart anew. His voice, though still soft, carried the weight of anger now, as he struggled to control it. "Mia, did Cassidy tell you this?" • Love's Double-Cross   Chapter 8

Trevor seemed more energized than ever, especially after I let slip how much I still grieved the child we’d lost. "Mia," he said, his forehead slick with sweat, “let’s have another baby, shall we?” Droplets of sweat fell onto my dazed face as he leaned closer, wiping them away before pulling me into his arms, his movements unyielding and insistent. The force of it left me breathless, words catching in my throat as I struggled to keep up. I shook my head weakly, overwhelmed, silently begging him to slow down. But he misunderstood, mistaking my reluctance for refusal. His intensity only grew, his pace relentless. "No, Mia, relax." By the end, I was trembling, tears welling up and spilling over. The truth was stark and inescapable: he didn’t care what I wanted. Not really. He made the room next door available, intending to build a baby's crib. He designed every detail of the renovation himself. Watching him crouched in the room, so focused on his work, I clenched my fists

My cup of milk on the table had long since gone cold. I changed into a fresh outfit and instructed the driver to take me to Dusky. I wanted to see if Trevor would go ahead and sleep with her right in front of me. The car glided slowly through the streets, soon arriving at Dusky. The vast space inside was thick with the scent of alcohol and the unmistakable odor of hormones, a place rife with decadence and moral decay. I stood at the door to the private room, watching silently. Cassidy had already discarded the thin veil she'd worn, revealing the black lingerie beneath. She was straddling Bruce, accepting his kisses. Trevor had undone a few buttons on his shirt, his eyes slightly glazed with drunkenness, yet he stared at the two people kissing across from him, his gaze heavy. The kiss ended, and Cassidy slumped in Bruce's arms. The room erupted in laughter. "Well done! Cassidy has accepted her defeat like a sport!" one of the men cheered. "Alright, let's go for the next
