Logan stormed angrily into the office. Immediately he entered, he was surrounded by thirsty employees who had been waiting for their drinks.
"Finally you're back," one employee exclaimed."Took you long enough Logan," said another and within seconds, the carriers were emptied. Only two orders were left: Damon's and his. Logan went of to Damon's office."Finally, you're back. What took you so long and why are you huffing and puffing?" Damon asked a little quizzed. What kind of trouble did he get into just on his way to buy coffees. He took his order and settled down in his chair with a office made croissant in his hand."Mr. Prince, we need to find another cafe to order. The customer service at Will's is appalling and their coffee taste's ...""Mmmmm..." said Damon to Logan's surprise. "This tastes delicious. Wow! Better than our old coffee shop. They always put too much cream in mine." No sooner had Damon spoke another employee, passed Damon's office."Good afternoon Mr. Prince. Mr. Logan, this coffee simply tastes amazing. Everyone loves it."Logan was in total surprise. He watched as Damon continued to drink his coffee in utter satisfaction. Grimacing pleasantly with every sip he took. Finally he stopped."I'm sorry. What were you saying about Will's coffee shop again? This coffee is simply mesmerizing. Aren't you going to taste yours?"Damon straightened himself and spoke up."Yes. I was saying that their coffee tastes awful...""Are you sure about that? I think everyone else disagrees."He picked up Logan's coffee and tasted it."Logan, your flat white tastes fine.""You may not know a well prepared flat white even if you tasted one. Your palate isn't delicate enough.""Okay? Well, what else happened?""The lady making the orders insulted me and refused to hande me back my change."Damon raised an eyebrow and looked at Logan intensely. Logan could be an asshole sometimes and over-exaggerated a lot but at the same time, he didn't condone insults, especially to his workers."Okay? What did she say?""She said I'm a stuck-up asshole...""Well that's surprisingly accurate," Damon thought"And she said my moustache looks like that of a pornstar from the 80's."Damon almost choked on his coffee. He wanted to laugh so hard but his coffee had come in the way, thankfully. He tried to keep his face straight and treat this as a serious matter."Well, that is a very rude thing to say," Damon said, trying to act serious. "Well we still have about 30mins untill our break is over. We should go over there and set things straight. He emptied his coffee, took the last bite of his croissant, straightened himself up and left the office with Logan. As they was leaving the building, the heard very pleasant remarks from employee's about the coffee."Logan this coffee is awesome...""They got my order just right...""It's even better than our old coffee place..."Everyone had something nice to say except Logan.Damon and Logan walked down a few blocks and finally reached the coffee shop. The shop was empty and Carmen and Layla were sitting at a table having some coffee and buns and chatting. It was Carmen who noticed them first."What are you looking at?"Layla turned and saw the rude customer with a very handsome man."That is the girl that insulted me," said Logan with a scowl."Good afternoon gentlemen. Is there a problem?" asked Layla. She was expecting something like this."Yes." Damon replied. "My employee here says you insulted him and refused to give him his change.""Really?" replied Layla mockingly. "Well I'm sorry to hear that. Did your employee also tell you that he called me a greedy, dirty bitch, said I have sloppy hands and called my coffee abominable and complained about his when nothing was absolutely wrong with it?"Damon looked at Logan but he said nothing. Layla saw that he missed out those parts in his reports and continued more confidently."Well, it seems he didn't tell you. As for his change, I told him that his change would be returned back to him once they carriers were returned but it seems that he was so busy with 'telling his superiors' that he forgot to bring them back on his way here. So by café policy here, his change will not still be given to him."Layla finished her argument and stared confidently at the two men. If judged fairly, she would obviously be right, unless this other guy was a dick head of equivalent magnitude. Carmen, however, watched the whole drama unfold. She didn't know what exactly to say or do. In here mind, she secretly cheered Layla on.Damon looked at Logan who still had said nothing. He sighed and looked at Layla. She was confident and beautiful, with long brown wavy hair, the deepest blue eyes and a gentle Spanish accent that spiced her every word."I'm sorry for all the trouble. Really, I am. I didn't know this was much deeper. Uhmm...take this."He reached into his pocket and handed her a cheque."This is $2million to compensate for all the trouble."Carmen opened her mouth wide and so did Logan. They both stared at Damon. Layla, however, was not so surprised. She looked at Damon to the check and back to Damon. Then she took it from him and turned it from hand to hand."Thank you Sir. But, however, this is unnecessary. Do rich people simply think they can buy themselves out of proper manners? Some of us are not that shallow you know. I would like a proper apology from your employee and not from you. Etiquette demands it, that's if he has any manners at all. You should never apologize for another's mistake. I also want our carriers returned and not your money." And with that, she handed the cheque back to him.He was simply speechless. How could she turn such an amount down for an apology? Logan and Carmen were dumbfounded as well but Layla looked calmly into Damon's green eyes, waiting for him to ask Logan to apologize."Alright," said Damon as he stepped back to put Logan in front. "You heard what the lady said."Logan was flushed with embarrassment. Layla raised a thick eyebrow and looked at Logan."You can't be seri...""Come on," urged Damon. "We don't have all day.""Fine," he said and looked at Layla."I am sorry.""For..." she said with her eyebrow raised again."Calling your coffee abominable.""And..."Logan wanted to swallow his tongue. What was this woman's problem?"Calling your hands sloppy.""And..." Layla stressed."And...and for calling you a greedy, dirty bitch."Layla relaxed in satisfaction."And I'm sorry for saying that your moustache makes you look like and 80's pornstar," said Layla with a smirk.Carmen and Damon stifled giggles.Layla stretched out her hand to shake Logan's. He hesitated for a while and finally shook her hand reluctantly."Great," said Damon. "With that all sorted out, we can take our leave. The carriers will be brought back to you after work.""No problem," said Layla calmly. And with that, Damon and Logan took their leave. Carmen looked up at Layla in shock and admiration."You know what? I think that other guy with the handsome green eyes has a thing for you. I saw the way that he looked at you.""Carmen...""Si.""Por favor deja de soñar.""Fine. But you know it's true," she continued teasingly.Layla just shook her head and smiled. Carmen was crazy.Meanwhile, Logan and Damon reached the office just before break was over."Seriously, you called her a dirty bitch. Logan your better than this.""Sir, her behavior was appalling.""Yeah and so was yours. It's fine. I'm just glad it's over. We'll have the carriers returned by the end of the day. It would make more sense for you to return them but I think you've gotten yourself into enough for one day."Logan frowned. He was however glad he would never have to go there again. They went to their separate offices and worked continued as usual. However, as Damon worked, he could help but think about Layla. Her beautiful face, her seductive accent, her piercing deep blue eyes, her thick perfect eyebrows and her strong attitude. She had his admiration and respect. The day wore on for Damon. Logan's encounter was the only interesting thing that happened for the whole day that's if you would count his meeting with heavy french accented Mr. Rochefort. He was in another meeting with the board and hopefully the last meeting for the day. He looked up at the clock. It was almost 6pm. The meeting was scheduled to end soon. This meeting was a lot easier for Damon. Everyone spoke clear, unaccented English. Soon, Damon was called to give the closing remarks. Finally! He was tired anyway. He gave a brief summary of the meeting and after a couple of handshakes, everyone left. Damon sank into his chair. It was 6pm on the dot. He called his secretary to drop the minute of the meeting on his desk. After a few moments, he got up and headed to his office. As he entered, he saw the coffee carriers on his desk. The image of Layla's face immediately etched itself in his mind. He thought of calling Natalie to return them but he decided to do it himself. At least he

Damon left the coffee shop as happy as anyone could be. He had just bagged himseelf the hottest date ever. He felt proud of himself. He walked back to the office and had a slight spring in his step. Everything was going perfectly. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Her long brown curly hair, her beautiful accented voice and her piercing blue eyes. She was a tease and he loved it. The office was almost closed. Logan was still packing up. He always headed home late. He was a real workaholic."Ahhh, Mr. Prince. Where have you been?"Damon tried not to appear too happy."I returned the carriers to the coffee shop."Damon watched Logan's face. His nose was wrinkled in disgust."That foul..."Damon raised his eyebrow and looked at Logan and he quickly retraced his words."I should probably get going. I have work to take home."Damon rolled his eyes and watched as Logan hurried away. Little wonder he had issues with Layla. He headed upstairs to his office to get his things. He was hungry
"Layla, we need a four cappuccino's, a pumpkin spice latte, two regular latte's with goats milk and a black coffee. Did you get all that?"William was always calling out long orders for Layla. Luckily she had them all written down. Thank God for paper and pencils. She was quite forgetful when it came to long lists and numbers."Sure thing Will. I'll be there in a minute."In an instant, the expresso machines whizzed on and she got to work. Layla had been working at Will's Coffee shop for almost two years. It wasn't her dream job but at least it kept her off the streets and put a little money in her pocket. She had a degree in Business Administration from Stanford but getting a job as a minority group was really hard in New York and America in general. But she loved working for Will and she also loved properly made coffee and made latte's like a pro. Before long, all the orders were ready. She put them on a tray and set them out."Carmen! Orders are ready." Carmen was Layla's best frie
"Open the fucking door!" were the first words Layla heard in the early hours of the morning. She checked her clock and it was 6am. The voice was soon heard again, this time, even angrier."I swear to God, if you don't open this door, you going to get it!" Her father was really upset and his Spanish accent made him sound even angrier. Azaera, too, was startled by the yelling. She hissed in anger and looked up at Layla."Don't you dare open that damn door", her blue eyes seemed to say. She hated getting up early."I'm sorry girl." And with that, Layla got out of bed and headed down stairs. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and opened the door."Buenos dias, papa." But there was no reply, Mr. Hernandez staggered in past her. He was in a mood and was terribly drunk."¡Niña estúpida! ¿Por qué tardaste tanto?" His Spanish was terribly slurred. He smelled of cigarettes too."Lo siento, papa," said Layla. She was really trying to hide her anger. She had only just got up. Azaera was sitting
Layla was having a quiet day at work. It's was exactly what she needed after the morning fiasco. Carmen was being, well, Carmen. Ooohing and ahhing every hot guy that walked in or out. As Layla was just leaving out an order for six macchiatos and a frappe, her phone rang. It was her dad. What on earth did he want now?"Hola, papa...""Get some milk and eggs on your way back, we're running out." The line went dead immediately. She didn't really expect anything more from him during the conversation. Not like he was ever going to say 'I love you' or 'how is work going?' Layla hoped Azaera was doing okay. She was a well behaved cat but would lash out if her patience was tested. Such was the case most times when she left her home with dad. As she worked, she thought about her future without her dad. No shouting, no yelling, no smelly house or untidy living rooms. She was not her mum and wasn't going to put up with his behavior. She looked out and stared and the high-rise building a few blo
