8 - She signed

After Morgana left, I looked at the papers on the table and began to flip through them. She had indeed signed. My heart had a small twinge of pain, and I didn't understand why the feeling. I had wished for the end of the marriage for a long time and only married that woman because of her father's illness, which eventually softened my heart and made me continue in that foolish contract of my grandfather's. Now there was reluctance within me to sign back and get rid of her.

What was wrong then? It's okay that she wasn't a bad wife. In the first year of marriage, she didn't hinder any of my goals or interfere in any way with my relationship with Elena, so understanding. She even cooked some things I liked.

I felt a bit of a cad for having an extramarital relationship, but as it was only a nominal marriage, I felt a bit better as time passed. I always went out with Elena for dinners and private parties without causing any major scandal, otherwise, my grandfather would kill me.
