104 - I feel safe with you

Dinner is served, and everything seems normal around me, but the constant sense of danger that has filled me since I left that police station is a tremendous and growing agony within my chest.

I don't feel like I can relax now, even at home. It doesn't feel like being at home is something that calms me down. The feeling of someone intruding into my life is dense and cruel. I gulp down the food as quickly as possible.

But tomorrow, I have another shift, this time calmer than the previous one, with a shorter schedule, and I just need to relax until then.

As soon as I finish dinner, I help Winnie clear the table and head back to the bedroom with my books. I just need to study a bit to disconnect from all these things that have been happening lately. I lay my head on the recamier's pillow, focusing my attention on studying less invasive surgical techniques.
