15 - Unwanted company

I left the company at 8:00 that night, went home to take a shower, and didn't find Morgana. Winnie told me she had gone out to dinner with a friend. My body felt a wave of panic for a few seconds, but I relaxed my face and went upstairs; tonight, I would have dinner with Elena for the first time without any guilt weighing on me.

"I won't feel bad for someone I don't love," I repeated several times on the way.

I wore a gray suit with a white shirt, a black tie, and dress shoes. I grabbed the car keys and headed to Elena's apartment. She looked beautiful in a lilac dress with a small side slit, white heels accentuating her legs, a bracelet I had given her years ago, and her hair pulled to the side. Magnificent! I reached out to help her into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and we drove to the restaurant.

But my thoughts still lingered on Morgana's potential romantic encounter.
