Two Hundred and three

CHAPTER 203

Selena looked in shock at the people lying lifeless before her. Her eyes would probably pop out of their sockets at the sight of so many corpses. Something in Selena's stomach couldn't be held back anymore, she was going to vomit!

"HUEK!"

The girl staggered backwards, before Selena finally managed to find a grip on the wall and brace her head that was spinning like a wheel. Selena looked at Ace in shock, this was a bad experience that was even worse than being bullied for years.

"W-what's just going on?"

Selena's voice was probably too low for Ace who was being opened with something in the box. Selena's brown eyes scanned the surroundings. Bodies littered the floor, blood everywhere, none of them moving. Ace had literally killed them all in one fell swoop.

"What did you just do, Ace?"

Ace finally noticed Selena's presence, he was too busy with Amanda's pile of cash. Ace searched the entire room and managed to find the money for himself.

Ace kills, then takes the victim's money, just like she did to Jill and Jason. But Jill and Jason had a different kind of bond. Ace shrugged his shoulders, then put all of Amanda's money into a pocket that he had kept inside his coat.

"What do you think? I just killed them all."

Selena opened her mouth and looked at Ace with an expression of disbelief, she almost fainted from nausea at the sight in front of her. She had never seen a corpse in person like this. Even though Amanda always threatened to kill her, Amanda didn't actually point a gun like Ace did.

"You killed everyone, but why, Ace?"

Ace lowered the bag he was holding and placed it on the table, while pointing at Selena with the tip of his gun, Ace explained, "I know you've been bullied for years, it started when we were in high school. Amanda manipulated you. She knew you always had trouble controlling yourself, and she used you to trap Alicia." Selena was stunned, she didn't think that Ace would realize everything. Ace shook his head, then said, "A person who has been manipulated for a long time will have difficulty distinguishing between right and wrong. You're used to being given things by Amanda, you're close based on the assumption that she's your best friend and Amanda made you believe that. My words are true, aren't they?"

Selena's lips froze, tongue-tied, unable to reply anything.

Ace grinned smugly, he always got his way these days and Ace was starting to become arrogant. "You don't want to live your life at Amanda's feet, do you?"

"But she paid all my bills, Ace!"

BRUG!

Selena was shocked when Ace threw a stack of money at her who was now sitting on the floor due to weakness. Thousands of dollars greeted Selena's vision and it made Selena even more speechless. She looked up after feeling all the money in front of her. "This is... real money? This much money... is it real?"

"I only need you for this money and in return, we split this money in half." Ace pointed at the money scattered on the floor with his hand, he then said, "After this, you will be free. You can continue your business, or go out of town, you can take your family away from this dirty town. I won't bother you."

"But what about Amanda?"

"She disappeared a long time ago, why are you worried?" Ace took the money in Amanda's safe after she broke it and put it in a bag. Ace looked at Selena, then continued, "You'd better help me search this house, I know Amanda would have kept a lot of cash in this house. She's wanted, she must have hidden all her money here. The more you find, the more money you can put in your savings to get away from The Fixer."

Selena's eyebrows furrowed. "Is The Fixer going to come after me and kill me?"

"No, but I can't guarantee it either. A good option would be for you to leave with all of Amanda's money. So, go and get as much of Amanda's money as I can," Ace said, as he then hit the other safe with a piece of wood. He took all the piles of money, "I'm leaving New York. This will be our goodbye."

The room echoed with the sound of Ace's relentless attack on the other safes, wood hitting metal in a rhythmic beat. Selena, still recovering from the shock of the carnage she had witnessed, hesitated before cautiously joining Ace in search of Amanda's hidden treasure.

As they moved through the dimly lit rooms of the mansion, Selena couldn't shake the image of the lifeless bodies lying behind them. She questioned Ace, "How did you realize my relationship with Amanda, Ace? When did you realize it? And, why did you dare to challenge The Fixer?"

Ace was silent for a moment, assessing Selena's sincerity. "Let's just say I have sources, and Amanda's affairs have not escaped my attention. The Fixer is a dangerous figure, and you're just a pawn in Amanda's game. I decided it was time to end it. After all, we were friends in high school. Even though you always stuck with Amanda."

The two continued their search and found a secret compartment full of stacks of cash. Selena's initial hesitation turned into a motivated frenzy as she realized the potential escape these funds could provide. Ace, meanwhile, appears focused and determined, driven by a mysterious personal agenda.

As they work, Ace reveals more about Amanda's elaborate schemes. "Amanda set you up, Selena. Trapping you for things you didn't do, just to keep you under her control. She knew you'd be an easy target, emotionally vulnerable and desperate for any form of companionship."

Selena's eyes widened as the pieces fell into place. The manipulation ran deeper than she had ever imagined. "But why help me now? What's in it for you to help me, Ace?"
