Two Hundred and four

CHAPTER 204

Ace paused, looking at Selena. "I have my reasons, and let's just say this involves solving a personal problem. You, Selena, are my ticket to dismantling Amanda's web of deception."

Their conversation was interrupted by the distant wail of sirens, signaling the arrival of the authorities. Time was running out, and Ace urged Selena to collect the money quickly. "We need to disappear before the law catches up with us. The Fixer won't be the only one looking for answers."

As Selena stuffed the money into the bag, she couldn't help but feel a mixture of gratitude and uncertainty. Ace seemed like a complicated ally, but his words hinted at a common goal to escape the shadows of the past.

With their bags filled, Ace and Selena walked towards the exit. Before leaving, Selena cast one last look at the mansion, now tainted by memories of betrayal and violence. The night promised a new beginning, but the journey ahead was fraught with uncertainty and the lingering shadows of their actions.

Ace quickly takes the car he got from Amanda, then leaves the mansion that Amanda built with the proceeds of illegal drug deals. Selena feels guilty, but the money in her purse has really made her forget herself. Let's just say that Selena doesn't know herself, she was given a job, money and even a life, but Selena killed Amanda who had given all those things to her.

The car then stopped on a quiet street, Ace had chosen that area for her stop long ago. Ace's eyes looked around through the dark car window, he then said, "We'll part ways here. I wish you luck with the money."

Selena looked at Ace with a confused look mixed with fear. Fear filled her head. She had just killed another person and it was a first for Selena. Although she didn't do it directly, Selena was still at the scene. She saw everything, one by one, scene by scene, without missing a beat. She closed her eyes when she remembered Amanda's pleading gaze not to be killed, but then she hurriedly pushed it away.

"Alright. I'll go down now."

Ace nodded. "May we never meet again."

Selena couldn't agree or disagree with Ace's last words, she just took off the seat belt protecting her chest and got out of the car. The girl hugged tightly the bag of cash she had gotten from Amanda's house. There was a strange feeling running through her chest. She looked around, a sudden feeling of guilt came up and began to haunt her.

On the way to her own clothing store, Selena couldn't stop feeling followed and she always felt anxious. She had to think of an escape, or at least a safe haven.

On the other side, Ace turned the wheel in the other direction. The man looked at the several large bags of money he kept in the back seat, before turning to the right side. So far, no one had followed him, Ace was sure he would be safe. Ace then drove to the house Amanda had given him and parked the car. Grinning, he looked at himself in the rearview mirror. Ace's face had changed a lot since he entered the prison a year ago. He had bags under his eyes from staying up late and overthinking about Alicia who was now Nicholas' girlfriend.

"Alicia, soon we can leave New York City and start all over. But before that, should I kill Nicholas for you?"

Ace sighed in annoyance, he removed his face from the glass and got out of the car while lifting the large bags. He intended to keep all his stolen money in the house given to him by his victim, Amanda. It was the same pattern as what she had done to Jill and Jason earlier.

As Selena hurried down the dimly lit street, the weight of the bag clutched in her hand seemed to grow heavier with each step. The cityscape around her was shrouded in shadows, reflecting the uncertainty that now surrounded her life. The money she carried was like a double-edged sword, offering a way out but at the cost of her innocence.

Entering her clothing store, Selena can't shake the feeling of being watched. She quickly devised a plan to change her appearance and hide for a while. Disguise, she thought, might be the only way out of the guilt that haunted her and threatened to consume her.

Meanwhile, Ace walks down the deserted streets, his mind filled with bags of money and the plans he has to start a new life. The house Amanda gave him is a symbol of his twisted sense of justice, a place where stolen wealth finds a strange sanctuary. However, Ace's thoughts are clouded by his unresolved feelings for Alicia, who is now involved with Nicholas.

While stacking bags inside the house, Ace reflects on the choices that brought him to this point. The desire for revenge had driven his actions, but the road ahead was still bleak. He pondered the options for confronting Nicholas, wondering if violence was the only way to fix their intertwined fates.

"Should I kill Nicholas, or not?" Ace laid his body down on the sofa, he looked at the worn ceiling of the house. Playing with the coin in his hand, Ace tried to wrap his mind around Alicia, moving on to Angela. "Should I be on Mom's side, or Dad's? Mom will destroy the world, while Dad will control the world. I didn't expect that I would be born to parents as psychopathic and annoying as them."

Ace then moved on, he checked the pile of bags containing money, opening them one by one to make sure. Nodding his head, the young man began to think of wild and extreme plans to take Alicia with him. After all, Alicia was his life and Ace wanted her to go with him.

Whatever the reason, no one could stand in his way. Alicia had to be his.

While looking at the mirror in the corner of the room, Ace looked straight at himself there. "Alicia, I'm coming."
