CHAPTER 11: Meeting My Mother in law

The next day, I arrived at the mansion, still dazed by its striking beauty and magnificence. As we drove through the massive gate, my anxiety grew. I tapped my fingers nervously all the way to the house, and then I was led to the patio where a brunch was set up.

"Hi, Lily," Jessica, Thomas's mum greeted me with a smile. She gestured with her hand for me to take a seat at the table, which was filled with an array of appetizing treats. There were freshly baked croissants, smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers, a platter of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, parfaits layered with Greek yogurt, granola, and berries, alongside glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice and mimosas.

I sat down, my eyes taking in the lavish spread before me. I salivated gushing over the delicacies, but I dared not show it for fear she’d view me as a hungry girl.
