His intervention

The next morning Alex woke up with a yawn, thinking of what had happened yesterday he realized that he had already fallen for this new girl, he just shook his head as he made his way to the bathroom preparing for school.

Thirty minutes later he was already prepared for school, he was eating his breakfast smiling to himself, nobody knew what he was thinking, if the girls of his class were to see him now they would never believe it was Alex the handsome but cold and indifferent dude.

The doorbell rang as Alex shouted, "come in".

The door was then opened as Elizabeth and Eric walked in.

"Alex what was wrong with you yesterday," Elizabeth said pulling Alex's ear before he had the chance to say anything.

"Aww! Am sorry, I promise I won't do that again", Alex apologized making Elizabeth who was pulling his ear twist it harder before finally leaving him alone looking satisfied with herself.

"What are you laughing at", Alex said when he saw Eric who was by the side snickering.

Some minutes later Alex was done eating, putting his bowl away he shouted "aunt am off to school".

"Ok bye dear! , don't forget to pick up Rachael" his aunt replied from the kitchen.

Alex shrugged his shoulders before walking out.

Alex and his friends got into his car "don't forget to pick up Rachael" Elizabeth reminded him once again.

"Okay," he groaned.

Driving of out the garage, he then drove to the next house stopping at the gate before honking loudly.

Some minutes later Rachael hurriedly came out of the house " we are already late stop wasting our time" Alex said indifferently reverting to his old self, as he was smiling before Rachael came out.

Rachael was shocked when she heard his indifferent tone, she wondered what she had done to offend the guy.

Elizabeth who was in the car could only sigh helplessly as she glanced at Alex "why was this guy always mean towards girls" although she knew the reasons she could not help but ask herself again and again.

Immediately Rachael got into the car Alex drive away at a high speed, the journey to the school was mostly silent as no one talked to each other so it was mostly silent.

After about twenty minutes the car finally parked at the school garage as they stepped out of the car and hurried to their class as they were late, although Alex had driven at s high speed on his way, coupled with the fact that there was traffic and other unforeseen circumstances it had taken them over twenty minutes to arrive at school so they were late.

During the entire morning, all the teachers came in and thought them their respective subjects.

Soon the school had closed as the trio coupled with Rachael departed the school and went home together, Alex was still cold and indifferent towards Rachael as he was to his female classmates.

Soon a month had passed, and although Rachael had gotten closer to Alex's friends and had also gotten a little bit closer to him he was still cold and indifferent towards her, although they went to school together he was still cold towards her.

Time flies like the wind, says an adage, as it was now over six months after Rachael moved to Cambridge and had been attending All-star high school, she had received many proposals and love letters from many boys in the school, but she had coldly rejected them, because of this, she had been subjected to a certain amount of bullying, Alex had never for once intervened when she was bullied, even if she was bullied right in his front he would just observe coldly without doing anything to help her, this made her even more determined to know where his problem lies.

Alex on the other hand, loved Rachael but won't tell, he loved her so deeply that most of the time he would almost show her his other cool side but he did not as he believed that all girls are the same, so he had always made sure he suppress his chaotic emotions before he talked to her indifferently with an icy voice.

Elizabeth knew that Rachael loved Alex, she had tried to tell him but his indifference had always made her jeep her mouth shut, she just hoped that Alex won't regret it, as that was the thing she was the most worried about.

One faithful day in the cafeteria Alex and Eric were eating while they were chatting happily, although Alex maintained his straight face and did not laugh at any funny words Eric said he continued to chat with him, that was Alex's character when he was in school or the presence of others other than his two best friends or his aunt or his best friend parents.

"Why don't you come and sit with me" a voice suddenly sounded within the cafeteria, everyone looked back to the source of the voice only to see Harry the school bully beckoning to Rachael.

Harry was the third most handsome dude in the whole school, but he was a bully and had a gang that beats up anybody who refuses to listen to his orders.

Everyone sighed as they had already gotten used to Harry bullying everyone, this time he was trying to bully and humiliate Rachael, so they all watched with interest.

Elizabeth who was with Rachael knitted her brows before replying "she won't come and seat with you" before dragging her towards where Alex was seating, they had just entered the cafeteria to rake their lunch but she never thought that Harry would try to bully Rachael if only Alex would intervene and help Rachael, but unfortunately, he wouldn't.

Although Harry had never bullied Elizabeth due to the fact that she was Alex's best friend, he wasn't afraid of her but was afraid that he would incur Alex's wrath, everyone was surprised as to where Elizabeth's confidence had come from.

Harry waved his hands as his underlings surrounded them before they could reach where Alex was seating, "Elizabeth, I was not talking to you so keep that damm mouth of yours shut" he yelled at her before turning to Rachael "come and seat here with me don't allow me to force you and don't blame me afterward" he said to her.

"As Elizabeth had said am not seating with you" she replied fiercely.

As all this drama was going on Alex was still eating his food calmly as nothing in the dispute had to do with him, as long as Harry did not touch Elizabeth he naturally won't interfere in the dispute.

Harry knew Alex well that as long as he did not touch Elizabeth he wouldn't interfere in the dispute, knowing this he had planned to ignore Elizabeth after he had yelled at her.

"You leave me with no choice but to force you" Harry continued after he heard Rachael's reply signalling his gang to bring her.

"Harry what a bully you are, and also it seems like you don't know your limits" Alex suddenly spoke up interfering in the dispute before his gangs could do anything to Rachael.

Everyone looked at Alex, he had never intervened when anyone was bullied even if it was Rachael, but today he had finally done that, everyone could see that Harry had ignored Elizabeth by the side, they were not sure as to why he had intervened.

"Harry gritted his teeth before replying "but I didn't do anything to your friend why are you still interfering".

"Why am a still interfering" Alex mused aloud mockingly, "I can wish to interfere that's none of your concern and I can also wish not to that's also none of your concern, and also can't you see that you are hurting my friend" he replied.

This statement put everyone into amazement as they did not know who he was referring to as his friend, but he was not referring to Elizabeth but Rachael.

Elizabeth sighed in relief when she saw that Alex had finally intervened, she was originally worried that he would not intervene and would allow Rachael to be humiliated, although this was not the first time he had watched her get humiliated she hoped that he wouldn't ignore her this time.

Harry gritted his teeth before signalling his gang to leave Rachael his eyes glittering with hate.

The two girls made their way to where Alex and Eric were seated, sitting down beside Alex she said "thanks for the help".

Alex didn't even glance at her before standing up and leaving the cafeteria, nobody knew where he was going.

Rachael glanced at the departing figure of Alex before turning back to Elizabeth and Eric.

"Do you know why he's so mean and cold towards me?" she asked them, although she knew she wasn't the only one he was cold to, he was also cold to the others, except his two friends, she had also heard about how Lydia betrayed him but she had never bothered about the full story, but after toady's incident, she wanted to know more about what had happened so she asked.

Elizabeth and Eric sighed as their expression turned grave, they had always thought that Rachael would be able to help Alex, but it seems like they were wrong, it seemed to only be their wild wishes, although they did not know why he had suddenly intervened today they hoped his heart had finally wavered, although they were not sure they still hoped so.

"What happened not long ago that Alex like this was all because of Lydia I hope you also know about that" Eric finally said after a moment of silence.

"Alex of before is a very nice guy, loving and caring, he wasn't cold and indifferent to anyone rather he treated everyone equally and was a jovial person, but ever since he had fallen in love with Lydia, he had taken her so seriously and had showered her with the love and care as he could to the point that all girls were jealous of her" Eric continued.

"But it was all a farce, Lydia didn't love Alex at all, she was bent on breaking his heart" Elizabeth interjected as she knew more about the incident, no one knew how she knew about that part, even Eric was shocked on hearing her statement but did not talk because he knew that Elizabeth had never lied so what she said was the absolute truth.

Rachael was shocked on hearing what they had both said "but that did not state why he's so cold and indifferent towards her girls", she asked them.

"She had been cheating on him with James, Alex knew nothing about it, slowly the rumour that Lydia was cheating on Alex spread throughout the school, nobody knew who released the rumour, when Alex heard the rumour he decided to ask Lydia about it, Lydia admitted that the rumour was true, she then told him that he was a trash and scum, Alex couldn't believe his ears, he tried to ask her the reasons behind her actions by he was embarrassed by Lydia in front of the whole school, he was then asked by James who was by her side to scram as he had supported her, Alex had no choice but to leave as he did not want to fight James just for the sake of a girl" Elizabeth continued.

"Since then his attitude had become cold and indifferent as it took him weeks to get out of his traumatized state, he then had concluded that all girls were the same and swore never to fall in love again, he also prevented girls from getting close to him, if not for the fact that Elizabeth was his childhood friend she would have also got the same treatment from him," Eric said as he had taken over from Elizabeth.

Rachael was stunned when she had the true story so the guy had been through a lot, she could not blame him for his coldness and indifference towards girls, he had been betrayed by the person whom he thought loved him, " but not all girls are the same, I will prove that to him" she said to herself.
