The accident

As she thought about this, Eric's phone suddenly rang loudly, everyone in the cafeteria turned that look at him, ignoring everyone he picked up his phone, seeing the caller's ID he frowned, why was Alex calling him, he thought.

Picking up the phone "are you Eric" a female voice asked from the other end of the phone.

Eric frowned when he heard the voice he did not know who the person who was talking was, after contemplating he replied "yes I am".

"Good, your attention is needed, the owner of this phone had an accident and has been rushed here to Cambridge north in Alexis hospital and we need to operate on him so we need someone related to him to sign some papers," the voice said.

Eric's face increasingly became ugly when he heard the information, Cambridge north was not far from their school, how had Alex been involved in an accident, "ok I would be there soon" he replied in a grave voice before hanging up the phone.

Rachael and Elizabeth looked at Eric anxiously "what's wrong" they asked as they noticed his expression changing while he was on the call.

"Alex was involved in an accident in Cambridge north and has been rushed to Alexis hospital and our attention is needed," he said to the two girls.

Their expression changed, Alex had not left them for long it wasn't even ten minutes after he had left, and yet he was involved in an accident.

Picking up her phone Elizabeth quickly dialed Aunt Maddy's number and quickly informed her about what happened she replied that she would get to the hospital right away.

The trio stood up after Elizabeth called Alex's aunt and quickly rushed to the hospital, they all did not have the will to continue eating their food again.

The other students in the cafeteria looked at them rushing out and wondering which kind of call Eric had received that made the three of them rush out without finishing their food, it was not a piece of good news.

When Alex had stood up a few minutes ago and left the cafeteria, he had done so because he could no longer control his chaotic emotions after helping Rachael, not knowing what to do, he went straight to the garage of the school and drove out, he did not even know where he was going as he did not have control over his emotions so he had lost his sense of direction, he was just driving as he was thinking about the new girl who had completely captivated him, he did not know why he did not hate her, he only felt he loved her, any time he tried to hate her the love would become stronger, anytime she was bullied in his front he had always felt the impulse to help her but would always suppress the impulse at the moment and ignore her, but today he did not know what had happened as he was unable to suppress down if he continued to say there.

Alex had narrowly avoided two accidents in a row as he was not focused on driving, anytime he managed to focus his mind would immediately drift back to what he was thinking making him lose focus, suddenly he looked up when he felt a strong sense of danger, but it was too late as a truck ran into him crushing his car, his blood spilled everywhere in the car before he gradually lost his consciousness.

Eric, Elizabeth, and Rachael quickly took a taxi to the hospital, on arriving there they found aunt Maddy already waiting for them there, seeing them alighting from the taxi she approached them anxiously.

A nurse came running in their direction immediately after the trio entered the hospital "are you Eric" she asked.

"Yes!, and this is the patient's guardian" he replied as he pointed to Alex's aunt

"That's good," the nurse said before turning to Alex's aunt "we need to operate on the patient but it cost one million dollars and we also need you to sign some papers," she said to Alex's aunt Maddy.

"Money isn't the problem please perform the operation and where is the document" Aunt Maddy replied to the nurse.

"OK then, follow me", the nurse replied.

She then took them to where they would sign the papers, after aunt Maddy had signed the papers Alex was wheeled into the theater room for the operation.

Aunt Maddy and the trio stood outside the theater room waiting for the doctor to come out.

After about an hour the doctor came out sweating, they immediately rushed to him "how is he now" they asked.

"He's out of danger now, but I don't know when he would wake up as he has fallen into a coma, his emotions are just too unstable and his heart is beating way too out of normal, by the way, who amongst you is Rachael" the doctor replied and the asked.

"Here am I" Rachael replied.

"Maybe you should stay by his side longer, he had been mentioning your name saying something like "Rachael! Rachael!, how come I was been captivated by you" or something like that" the doctor said making Rachael's face turn red.

After telling them what they needed to know the doctor left them standing there.

All of them sighed in relief when they heard that Alex was Already out of danger.

But then they suddenly looked at Rachael before finally smiling, it seems like Alex had finally fallen for Rachael. From the words that the doctor had told them, it had dawned on Eric and Elizabeth the reason why Alex had intervened and why he had left the cafeteria afterward, it turned out that he did not want them to know what was going on in his mind, but what still baffled them was how he had got into the accident, they knew that Alex wasn't a careless driver.

Rachael's face turned red as she was blushing when she saw their smile, Alex had fallen for her but did not tell her, rather he had kept it to himself, when he was not able to take it again he had intervened when she was bullied, she could not blame him as she remembered the story Eric and Elizabeth had told her, even if it was her she would have done the same thing.

Aunt Maddy smiled at Rachael before saying "I hope you would be able to make Alex the way he was before", patting her on the shoulder and going into the ward Alex was.

Elizabeth and Eric followed aunt Maddy into the ward leaving only Rachael outside "are you planning to stand there all day" a voice called out to Rachael, it was Elizabeth.

Snapping out of her thought she walked into the ward.

They surrounded Alex as they looked at him sleeping peacefully, they all sighed again in relief when they saw that he wasn't in any danger.

Elizabeth and Eric had already phoned their parents and they told them about the incident that had happened to Alex so they were already in the hospital with the others, all of them gazed at Alex as they hoped he would wake up soon.

Some weeks later Rachael was in the hospital in Alex's ward and holding his hand reading him a book she held in her hands, during all this while she had refused to go anywhere, she had only gone home when she was pressurized by Alex's aunt, but she just went to bring her clothes before going back to the hospital, as she was reading him the book the door of the ward was opened, Eric and Elizabeth came in holding a bag of fruits that had bought for Rachael.

During all this while All star high school had already known about the misfortune that happened to Eric so they had already visited him.

During all this, while Eric and Elizabeth were also by Alex's side hardly going anywhere they had just gone home and were coming back so they bought the bag of fruit for Rachael.

"Alex has been unconscious for two weeks now, am afraid something has happened" Eric spoke up.

"Don't worry nothing would be wrong, I hope he wakes up soon too Elizabeth replied.

"By the way Rachael did he move any part of his body since he had been unconscious," Elizabeth asked Rachael who was eating the fruits they had bought for her.

"He hasn't moved since I was with him" she replied.

While they were talking the machine started to beep loudly, no one had noticed that Alex had moved his right arm, on hearing the machine beeping so loudly Eric dashed out of the ward to look for the doctor.

Soon he came back with the doctor, the doctor examined Alex before smiling "he should wake up any time soon" he said as he was leaving the ward.

They were overjoyed when they heard that Alex would soon wake up, the first day he did not wake up, the second day was the same, the third day was also the same, soon a week came to pass Alex did not show any sign of waking up, they were utterly disappointed, if not for the fact that the Machine connected to Alex's heart was working Smoothly they would have thought that Alex had died.

One month later, it was already night as the rain fell heavily, Rachael, Elizabeth, and Eric were by Alex's side as Eric watched the window planes as the rain fell on them, while Elizabeth and Rachael conversed, aunt Maddy had just left them not long ago.

Suddenly the machine beeped loudly as Alex opened his eyes, on hearing the machine beep loudly they turned subconsciously and looked towards Alex, seeing that he had opened his eyes they sprang up and hugged him tightly, after releasing him Eric went to look for the doctor while Elizabeth phoned Alex aunt.
