Chapter 17 (part 1)

Adam, coming out of the bathroom, heard Shàng Wèi's baritone voice talking on the phone. The tone of voice was caressing, almost intimate.
Who is he talking to? He asked himself suspiciously.
A strange feeling struck him in the pit of his stomach. Was it suspicion or jealousy he felt?
He headed for the living room, trying to muffle the sound of his footsteps as much as possible; he wanted to be able to eavesdrop on some shred of that conversation.
