Chapter Four

(Kelly walks into the wedding reception in a gorgeous lavender gown, and heads straight to the bar to get a drink. Eddy notices her from afar and walks to where she's seated.)

You look beautiful Kelly, thank you Eddy. You don't look half bad yourself. Eddy smiles. How are you? I'm okay, happy doing what I love. I can see that. Your Mum talks a lot about you, plus I heard about your promotion. Congratulations! Kelly grins. So what about you? What's new with you? Not much, I took over my Dad's business when he died and now I'm currently doing my best to keep it operating. (Eddy pulls his seat closer to Kelly and says). I never stopped thinking about you. I couldn't get you out of my head all these years. I miss you, I miss us. You should have thought about it before locking lips with Melissa on the night of our engagement party. Kelly said. I'm so sorry Kelly. You know Melissa has always had a thing for me. I was on my way out of my hotel room, when she ambushed me and started making advances at me. I attempted to stop her, but she kept getting closer. The next thing I knew, she kissed me and that was what you witnessed. I'm so sorry Kelly. I haven't been myself since you left. Please give me another chance Kelly. I pledge to make us work this time. I don't know Eddy, let me think about it. Okay Kelly, take your time. Eddy chuckles as he takes his departure.

(Ashley's phoning through video call….)

Hi Kelly, Ash. I will give anything to have you here with me. What's wrong? Eddy! Eddy? The ex? Yes, Eddy. He still looks as attractive as I recall. His wavy hair, his cologne, and those lips. Kelly, focus! What did he want? He wants us to get back together. What did you say? I told him I will think about it. Think about it? Kelly, there's nothing to ponder about, or have you forgotten that he crushed your heart. I know, but he explained everything to me, that what occurred was a misunderstanding, that Melissa came unto him. Are you truly believing that? Have you forgotten how secretive he was while you two were dating? How he will disappear off the grid for days and not care to answer or return your calls, then he will show up with costly presents and you will leap back into his arms? How you constantly complained about his attempts to control your life, him telling you that he doesn't think we should be friends, and how he flirts with ladies in your presence? Come on Kelly…you can't be thinking of accepting him back. He's your ex, it should stay that way. I know all this Ash, but among all this, we had a nice time together and seeing him today brought back all those memories. I don't know Kelly, but you need to get away from him, very far away from him. You know what? I'm on my way. Excuse me! Firstly, I'm a big girl, I can handle myself. Secondly, what would Jack say about you cutting your romantic weekend off short? I know you love me, but you don't have to solve everything. I got this. You focus on your weekend with Jack, he's a great person and I can see he genuinely cares about you, and you care about him too. Yeah I do. Ashley responds. So don't ruin it. Go be with Jack. (Christabel heads towards where Kelly is seated and converses with her)

Eddy right? Dam, he still got it. What do you want, Christabel? Kelly asks. Why so hostile? I come in peace. Can I have what she's having? Christabel says to the waiter, as she moves her seat closer. I saw you talking to Eddy, not sure what he told you, but I felt I needed to tell you something. I slept with Eddy at Jessica's second wedding. Why are you telling me this? Don't believe anything he tells you. Eddy is a liar and a cheat. After we slept together, we kept on hooking up secretly. He promised he was going to break up with you and be with me, but he never did. Remember the night you caught him kissing Melissa? Yes, but it doesn't matter anymore, it's all in the past. I was the one who left the note in your purse. I just wanted you to see the kind of man you were about to get married, someone who didn't deserve you. Excuse me, (Kelly stands up to leave in a fit of rage). Kelly I'm sorry. We were friends when we were kids and when we grew older, you began to change towards me, and I never understood why till now. Did Jessica know about this? About what Kelly? Your affair with Eddy? Yes, she did. You make me sick Christabel, let go of me.

(Kelly storms out, sobs quietly as she tries so hard to keep the tears from falling. It was heartbreak all over again, the feeling of anger and betrayal overwhelmed her).

Taxi! Where to Ma'am? Anywhere but here. Okay Ma'am. I'm sorry, but I can't help but ask, are you okay? Yes, I am, mind your business. Oh okay. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to speak to you the way I did. You didn't deserve it, Kelly said. It's alright Ma'am.

(Kelly's phone rings)

Kelly, yes Sir. I'm sorry to call you by this time of the day, but I couldn't wait any longer. I know you travelled this weekend to go see your parents and Mondays are usually your days off, but do you mind coming in on Monday? We have a case of a missing person that came in yesterday. Do you mind taking a go at it? Well, uhmmm, well Sir. Kelly, are you okay? Yes, Sir. Are you sure? You know what, I'm giving you an extra week off. But Sir, that won't be necessary. I can handle the case. I know you can, but right now you are not in your best frame of mind, so take the week off, thank me later. But Sir, what about the case? Kelly asked. I'll have Harvey run the lead on it. Feel better Kelly. Great! Now my job has been given to someone else. Just take me home please. Where's home? Right around the corner, I’ll show you. Okay Ma'am. (Kelly returns home and cries herself to sleep)
