Chapter Five

I'm so thrilled I finally get to go home today. Jacob says. Hey Daddy, hi Peanut. It's nice to see you. How was the wedding? It was alright. Just alright? Anything noteworthy happened? Did you meet a handsome guy? Mum! I'm sorry honey, but you're so beautiful, I just don't understand anymore. Ever since you broke up with Eddy, you haven't brought any guy home or talked to us on the phone about a boy. Well Mum, I have been on dates, met a couple of guys, but they were all not ready for a serious relationship, so I ended things with them and kept off dating for a bit. Speaking of boys, I bumped into Eddy during the wedding. Oh! I never really understood what you saw in him. I always believed you deserved better. Here we go again. Kelly said. So what did he want? For us to get back together. What did you say? I replied I will think about it. Honey, we don't want you to get hurt again. If he can do what he did to you, what's the assurance that he won't do it again? I don't know if he would Mum, but seeing him yesterday at the wedding brought back all those feelings I had for him while we were together, and hearing all the things Christabel said about him; what did she say? Don’t worry about it Mum. It's fine Peanut. Don't be in a hurry to offer him a reply; take all the time you need. Thanks Dad. (Kelly grins and hugs her Dad). Alright, enough of this, let's go home, we wouldn't want you to miss your flight. Uhmmm, thanks Mum, but my Boss gave me another week off. Wow! More time with my baby, yes Mum. (Kelly giggles, and embraces her Mum)

(The Next Morning)

Good morning Mum. Hi honey, sleep well? Not really. My room still looks, smells, and the bed, pretty small. Oh honey, I'm truly sorry. We didn't have time to get a new bed. It's okay Mum, I'm simply happy to be home, to spend more time with you and Dad (Maggie smiles). What are you making Mum? Banana pancakes. Yummy! Can I ask you a question? Sure, go ahead. What do you know about Globetech Group? Not much honey, just that they arrived into town five years ago, and their entrance into town brought huge changes to Middleville. It truly opened up the town. Investors started trooping in from everywhere, creating new schools, hospitals, parks, playgrounds for kids and so much more. Wow, that's fantastic, sure it is, but over the same era, the incidence of missing persons and fatalities also climbed. Yeah, every weekend someone is abducted and turns up dead days after with horrific bite marks. What's the Sheriff office doing about it? They said a wild beast infiltrated our town, which made the Mayor put a curfew on Weekends, because they noticed that a lot of these unusual killings happen on weekends.

I'm on a campaign to deliver answers for the people and put an end to all these deaths. Mum, you said deliver answers? You don't believe the killings are animal related? Not at all dearie, I feel there's more to what they are saying to us and I'm going to prove it. Speaking of addressing issues, I'm trying to find someone who lives in this town. Her name is Molly, she's my neighbor's daughter. He hasn't heard from her in days now and he's stressing out. You know this is a little town. Do you have a photograph of her? Yes, I do. (Kelly shows her Mum a photo of Molly from her phone) Oh! Molly Fowler, yeah that's her. I know her. You do, how? She came to me two weeks ago. She was terribly afraid. She stated she saw something at work that terrified her out. She stated she had proof of Larry Luthor, the CEO of Globetech Group, diverting business monies to support Project X. Project X? Did she say what Project X was? No she didn't, she left in a hurry and I haven't heard from her since then. Wow! That's extremely bizarre. Have you tried calling? Yeah, it goes directly to voicemail. Where is she? Kelly ponders. I simply hope she's fine wherever she is. Thanks Mum for the information, I'll go over to her place of employment, perhaps obtain her house address and ask further questions. Alright honey, that's alright. But please be careful. I will Mum.

(Kelly visits Molly's office the next day)

Wow! This place is bigger than I thought. Can I assist you? Oh sure, my name is Kelly. I'm here to see my cousin Molly Fowler. Oh Molly, such a wonderful soul. Molly doesn't work here anymore. Since when? Since last week. I didn't know that. Did you try calling her? Yes, I did, multiple times it kept going to voicemail. Did you by any chance know where she lives? Kelly asks the Security Guard Charlie. I thought you said she's your cousin? Yes, she is, just that Molly and I had a dispute. She tried to tell me that the man I was about to marry was cheating on me with another lady, but I didn't believe her. I told her that she was merely being jealous, then I said some nasty things to her, hence, our relationship going sour. I sincerely miss her and want to make amends. Well, I don't know where she lives, but you can ask Betty Wright; The lady in a blue dress to my right. The two were inseparable. Most times I wonder why Betty didn't resign the same way Molly did. But are you sure Molly resigned? Did you see her walk out the door with her things? As a matter of fact, I didn't. I got to work the other day and saw someone sitting in Molly's seat and when I asked who she was, I was told she was Molly's substitute. That's odd! Well thank you for your time.

(Kelly walks over to meet with Betty)

I know who you are. You do? Yes, you're that big shot PI in Greenwood. I saw you on TV. Let's not chat here. Meet me at this address at exactly 5:00pm. Now, we are going to hug and pretend like we know each other… (Kelly hugs Betty as agreed and takes her leave thereafter).
