I jerked awake and looked at my surroundings. It was definitely confusing. I was still in the parking lot. I stood from the ground and held my head, trying to recall what happened. My head was foggy. Then, everything came flooding in.

Twins had attacked me, and they had magic. How was that possible? I guessed Jocelyn and Zion weren't the only twins with magic anymore. This was getting weird. After months of peace, trouble had finally arrived. I was surprised because I was expecting this. Evil never slept. Evil was an unending force, and so was good, love, and hate.

I got into my Audi and slammed the door in frustration. I sighed and placed the key into the car's ignition. I started the vehicle and revved the engine. Switching the gears, I exited the parking lot and halted the car. I switched the gear again and stepped on th

Everybody sat down on the couch, trying to recover from what had just happened. The magic twins had attacked us, and only the girl had dealt with us. We were five pure vampires and two powerful chanters. How could she have beaten us so quickly? Well, not too easily, to be frank. We did stress her. Jocelyn and Zion did. They were our saviors whenever witches or people with magic attacked us.We were all hell-bent on knowing who they were. That was the first way to learn to defeat someone. You had to find out their true identity. I learned that the hard way when facing Silas. At least the twins didn't wear masks or hoods to cover their faces."Who were those guys?" Hope asked, holding Faith.I was glad Faith was safe. Those twins had come for her. I felt that their reason for

The doorbell sounded as I was seated on the couch with father. I was with Faith in my arms and was also explaining to him what had happened to her. We also talked about what had happened when he wasn't around. I told him about the adventures I and Solomon had and the death that piled up each time we left.We were wicked, deadly. Well, I was the one that did most of the killing. Solomon only took lives when it was necessary. Like if someone threatened two of us, attacked us, or tried to harm me. He had my back throughout the years until we had separated. I eventually went on killing because I had nobody to tame me. I didn't expect to see him the night after the day I had returned to Winekove. The doorbell sounded again, and Father sighed, standing to his feet. I chuckled as he made his way to the door. On his way, I heard him curse mo

I sat on the porch with my father with a bottle of alcohol in my hand. Father had come to see Philomena. She had refused to talk to anyone since Enoch died. I wondered why she would be obsessed with another man when we knew she still loved our father. I could see it in her eyes.Father had almost broken through but had been stopped by Enoch, who had to pick Philomena. It looked like they were going somewhere. I guessed that Mother had been trying to escape from the guilt once more. Eventually, Father and Enoch got into a fight. It would have cost Enoch his life if mother hadn't stepped in on time.Father had to let go, and he fled. He hadn't visited the house until today. He had come to see Philomena, but she didn't want to talk to her either. She must be pretty sad. We didn't need this now. Enoch's life had been taken by two t

The house had been quiet after that. I sat down at the fireplace to contemplate all Karavaev just told us. It was unbelievable, but it was a relief. Some of the things he told us had been scary, but we found a way to recover—at least, not everybody.Hope was still sad that she had magic but couldn't unlock it. Little did she know she was not the first Quetet I fell in love with. Mary Sherringham was. They didn't look the same, but the frizzled hair was irreplaceable. Mary and I had sex once before she died. If she didn't die, we could have had a child together. I froze. The glass of alcohol in my hand started shaking. I was supposed to have a child with Mary, but she was killed before the seed had the chance to germinate. The anger I felt that she had been killed when I returned from feeding that night erupted again in me.

I stepped out of the Audi after parking it in the garage. I walked back into the house and headed straight to the fireplace. The bottle of alcohol was seated on the table, waiting to be touched. I picked it up and poured myself a drink. I picked up the glass and walked up to the couch. Solomon and Jocelyn were seated there talking. Maybe they were trying to solve the problem hovering over their relationship. I walked back to the fireplace and sat down. I held the armchair as I drank from the glass. We had just returned from a hectic day of school. Well, I wouldn't call it hectic because vampires couldn't feel stressed. We were like a nuclear reactor; we couldn't be worn out easily. So sad we couldn't say the same for Jocelyn and Zion. They grumbled when they entered the car on our way home. It was a boring day at school. Nothing

POLAND, 1303.I zoomed into Christiana's house and looked for her. I wanted to show my brother that she was not to be trusted. She was dangerous and a liability to our family. She didn't deserve to be part of it. She had to be put down quickly. I walked around the house but couldn't find her.I had rushed down here after having sex with a total stranger. This was the second time I was doing such. I wondered what was going over me. My mind was filled with lust. The singer on that occasion, Mrs. Piatek, was good in bed. It looked like she was into me. Too bad I wasn't the type of person that believed in love. She was just a distraction for me.I loved her voice and was mesmerized minimally by her beauty. It was her voice that had attracted me. So we headed home and ha

I sat down on the couch with a glass of alcohol in my hand. Solomon was standing before me, and of course, he wanted to know what had happened. He told me he had heard me grunting on the lawn, and when he arrived, it had been only me there.I sighed and sipped from the glass. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't tell him that a girl he thought was dead fought with him. He would be surprised and even turn angry at me once more. Believe me, and I didn't want that now. I was planning something. Life was moving fast, and I felt it was time to make Hope my wife. If Solomon were angry at me, I wouldn't enjoy the wedding."Talk to me, Desmond," Solomon urged.I clenched my jaws, thinking of what to do. This would probably get out of hand soon enough. I scratched my chin, thin

I got out of the Audi and closed the door behind me. I was back in school after a long while. It had almost been two weeks since I last got to school. A lot had happened. I had fought magic twins and also a friend from the past. The past I thought would never resurrect. I guess the unexpected was always expected.Solomon and I had managed to keep the secret from everyone at home. We had fought Christiana, and I was surprised that Solomon had killed her. I wasn't expecting much. From the way we had started the war, I knew he would fall off because of the love he once had for her. But he was the one that stabbed her with a stake. Christiana was surprised as she died. It gave her a perfect look at her corpse. After we had killed Christiana, I realized something. I realized it was the best way to make your best moments count. So, I went

"Father!" Faith screamed. My eyes widened for some moments. I was breathing heavily. I looked at my chest, and I could see the hole in there. It was pathetic how I was dying. After everything that had happened, after everything I had been through, I wasn't going to get the happy ending. I didn't deserve it, to be honest. I was paying for my past sins. Karma had finally caught up with me.I looked up at the sky and noticed it was twilight. I smiled as I admired the beautiful view. It was probably the last thing I was going to see. Who would have known that it would have come to this? I had promised to keep everybody alive and had failed. Jocelyn was dying beside me."Father," Faith said, arriving in front of me.I lo

Solomon shook my hand firmly and smiled at me. I was surprised at this. We were back home, and I was about to pour myself a glass of alcohol. I would need it because we would match down to the woods until we could find Suzana. Today was the day. We had to defeat her, or there was no way we would stand a chance against her once again.I realized why Solomon was shaking me. It was because of the treaty I had made with the werewolves. This treaty had joined the two supernatural species in town together. It was a new beginning for the town. It was sad that Hope and I wouldn't be around to see each other for long. We didn't plan on telling people about it until the battle was over.Hope had gone to her mother's office to tell the police to announce a mandatory lockdown from six tonight till the following day. We didn't want any human bein

  • Love, Lust and Blood   THE TREATY#121

I woke up to a high-pitched sound ringing in my ears. I stood up slowly and looked around my surroundings. Everybody was still out. Suzana had blasted us before she left. I turned around and looked for Faith. She was the first person on my mind. I was scared because it seemed like the blast was a distraction from Suzana to pick up Faith and escape. Well, that seemed genuine because I couldn't find Faith on the lawn.Terrified, I zoomed into Hope's body and tapped on it roughly. Hope's eyes opened slowly as they stared at me. She sat up slowly and held her head. She was probably feeling the migraine too. My heart was pounding fast. How was I going to tell her that Faith had been abducted again? And this time, it was under our very noses."What happened?" Hope asked, wincing in pain.

This was the time I had been waiting for. I couldn't hold it any longer. I had to go out with Hope and Faith. We needed a good time to clear the tension hovering over us. The fear of Suzana attacking us had gripped us so badly that sometimes the house would be quiet. Why? Because everybody was looking for a way we could destroy Suzana, but none was found. It had been frustrating, but we hadn't stopped looking. There was still hope. There had to be, or we would all die when Suzana decided to visit us.I had made a treaty finally with Zack. This was something that Solomon had been trying to do when we had first arrived at Winekove. But I had ended it telling him that the werewolves were supposed to live with us, and there had to be no two ways about it. We were at the top of the food chain at that time, and I had assumed that we were the most powerful creatures on Earth. That had been before Si

I was expecting Suzana anytime from now. Or was I just paranoid? This was the perfect moment to spend time with my family. I could take them out. It was even time I told Hope about my plan. If she said yes, we could leave in the next month or two. Probably after we defeated Suzana.I was growing confident that we could beat her. The tremendous amount of power that Jocelyn and Zion had shown me when they defeated Javicia gave me hope. Maybe we did stand a chance against Suzana? Or was I just being delusional? Suzana even had the power to raise the dead. She had raised my father and had used him against us. It wasn't friendly at all. I was used to it. My weakness had been exploited, and I had fallen for it too quickly.Could I blame myself? I loved my father, and the thought of spending eternity with him certainly intrigued me. Suzana

  • Love, Lust and Blood   THE DEMOLITION OF JAVICIA#118

Everybody was in the living room. I, Hope, Solomon, Florence, Noah, mother, Jocelyn, and Zion. They had finally returned from the coven meeting. As leaders of their coven, I couldn't blame them for being absent throughout all that had happened. We eventually killed Silas again. The only thing remaining to make sure he stayed dead forever was to destroy his heart. I couldn't squash it with my hands, so I thought Jocelyn and Zion could use their magic to destroy it.Ever since they had gotten Raven and Theo's powers, they had leveled up tremendously. They were very powerful. I could even say they were as powerful as Javicia, and I hoped they could somehow match up with Suzana if the need for battle ever arose. Suzana was powerful, and I felt nobody could match up with her powers. We watched Jocelyn and Zion as they stood up from the co

  • Love, Lust and Blood   THE LAST OF SILAS#117

It had been days since Silas had last attacked us, and I wondered what he and Javicia were planning. They knew the mansion's location, so it wasn't safe for Faith. They wanted her. Apparently, Suzana had asked them to fetch her. She was a greedy monster, and she needed to be put down.It wouldn't be easy, but there's always a way. Deep down, I knew that everybody had a weakness. It was just a matter of time before we discovered Susana's flaw. But if Suzana did have a weakness, wasn't it possible that somebody would have found it a long time ago? Suzana had been alive probably since the ice age. If there was a weakness, it should have been found by now.I was seated on the couch, trying to console my mother. Solomon was on the other side of her. Florence wasn't still back, and I wondered where she had gone. Noah was missing too, and I

I couldn't believe my eyes. I certainly was dreaming. How could this happen again? This was the second time it was happening before my eyes. My father was dying before my eyes for the second time. Was I cursed? Why did it always have to be me? Father was going, and there was nothing I could do about it.I stared at his eyes as he looked at me, smiling. He was leaving. I was crying because this time he wasn't coming back. He was going forever. Suzana confirmed my hypothesis. Someone had raised Father from the dead, and she had been the one. She had used her father to manipulate me and have her way. I couldn't believe I had fallen so quickly. Was it my fault? I prefer to think not. She knew my weakness; my father. She had used my father to have her way. I had told my father where I had buried Silas's heart. Suzana had fetched it

  • Love, Lust and Blood   SUZANA#115

I was surprised to see her. How was she still alive? She should have died long ago. Well, that was a silly question because Suzana was immortal. If she could create such beings like us, how did her being alive become an issue? She had been alive for a long time, since when the first werewolves were made. That had been thousands of years ago. She seemed like a god to me. For her to manipulate a curse cast by a god, she deserved the title "god," too.My problem was that she was back in Winekove. What did she want? Because she was indeed looking for me and Solomon. It then hit me. The blast that had taken me out, she had been the one who had made it. No wonder the explosion had been so strong. It also reminded me that Suzana was strong, and we couldn't defeat her.I watched her as she walked up to us. Her black hair and crimson ey
