Chapter 7

Watching the two of them act all lovey-dovey, completely oblivious to everyone else, made my stomach churn.

I fought back the nausea and grabbed Xena by the hair, slamming her head down on the table twice.

“Xena, if you don’t know how to keep your mouth shut, then don’t speak. And before you accuse me of not having seen the world, maybe take your eyes off someone else’s husband first.”

They probably had not expected me to lash out so suddenly. By the time Xena’s head had hit the table twice, Hendrick finally reacted, pulling her protectively behind him.

In the next second, he grabbed my arm, demanding I apologize to her. I slapped his hand away.

“Apologize? You’ve got to be kidding me! Hendrick, you make me sick.”

With that, I turned and walked away, leaving them both stunned.

As soon as I reached the door, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and started to vomit. With nothing in my stomach, I was left dry heaving uncontrollably.

What a waste of a good dinner.
