Some Letter

My scream broke through the house as I could hear approaching footsteps to the house. “Who are you?” I asked the lady who was between the curtains before I got distracted by the opening of the door.

“Is everything fine?” Rein asked, and I shook my head negatively.

“No, nothing is fine. First, you all locked me up here, and now she is…” I said, looking to my side, but the figure I had seen there was gone. “Where is she?” I asked, about to twirl when she tapped my shoulder, and I looked back, frightened to see her behind me.

“You…” I was speechless at this point. So her first scare attempt wasn't enough; she had to continue it.

“That's Helen, your childhood friend. Don't you remember?” Rein asked, and I ohed, the memory of her face flashing through my mind. I raised a finger as I pointed towards her, shaking it vigorously before I ohed again; I had found my ticket to escape.

“You can leave now, Rein.” I said, waving him off, and he scoffed as he walked out the door while I pulled Helen to sit. “So what happened while I was gone? What happened to Sage?”

I asked, and she stopped her action, looking at me for a while before dropping the cup of water she had attempted to carry. “Sage was working out just fine, and he kept frequent contact with Caspian, but just like you, I left the city for a while, and the next thing I knew, I was being invited to a funeral.”

She said as she sat back, and my heart winced a little as I heard about Sage again, but the answers I sought seemed like only Caspian had them in his hands.

“But before then…” she said as she leaned her head forward, and I did the same, noticing that what she wanted to say was top secret. “Sage was hunted down by the Antonio family. Just when he was let go, his connection with Caspian was cut off,”

She said, and I nodded slowly at her words. With that information, I was now sure I was going to Texas to meet him; I needed answers. I welled up a little bit of tears in my eyes, and she immediately hugged me with her body as she asked,

“Are you okay? What's wrong with you?”

“It's just about Sage; I can't seem to…” I cut short my words, a wail interrupting my speech. She pulled me into a hug as she patted my back gently, and I sobbed into her arms. “Can you perhaps take me shopping? Maybe then I would be able to feel better,”

I said, and she stopped patting for a while before she continued and said, “Yes, maybe. Your dad doesn't allow you out, but you should be happy,” she said, and a smile rose on my face slowly; my plan was working.

“Alright, let me go get ready.” I said, disentangling from the hug slowly, and from her expression, I could easily tell that she was shocked beyond means.

“I thought we were leaving later…” she asked, and I shook my head as I walked up the stairs without giving her a moment to think it through; this was my only chance.

I grabbed my cards and an ID as a form of identification and my passport, placing them all into a bag, and I changed my clothes so as not to look too suspicious. I walked downstairs, and just like I thought, the first thing she noticed was my bag.

“Why are you taking a bag along? You don't need it.” She said, moving closer to me, probably wanting to check out the contents, but I immediately held it tight as I turned the other way.

“I have my phone in there and some other essentials; you don't have to worry. I will not do anything that dangerous,” I said, and she raised a brow at me as she left to also grab her purse, and we walked out together.

Taking a step out, the guards immediately turned towards me while Rein walked closer. “Where are you going, miss?” he asked, and I couldn't help but tell the sarcasm in his voice.

“We want to go shopping, to help me feel better. Don't tell me Dad doesn't trust Helen?” I asked, and he chuckled as he shook his head negatively.

“No, your dad trusts Helen, of course.” He said, and with those words, I entangled my hand around her arm as I whispered, “Let's go,” but his next words stopped me. “He doesn't trust you,” he said, turning towards me sharply, and I gazed at him with a piercing glare.

“I won't argue with you,” I said as I grabbed onto Helen’s hands, leading her away while he followed us.

“I will have to go with you if you are adamant,” he said, and although it foiled my plan, I still didn't care. I was planning on tricking Helen in the first place, so I would just do the same with him.

“Do as you see fit.” I said as I got into the car, leaving him in the driver's seat.

“You are not carrying it well; it's gonna fall off,” I said to Rein, who had carried the bags of all the unnecessary stuff I had bought, and all he did was roll his eyes at me.

“I will drop this off in the car, Helen; I am trusting you.” He smiled at her, and she nodded before he left as I smirked. First target eliminated. I dragged Helen by the hand as I ran out of the mall and into the streets. Soon enough, I saw a group of people having a parade.

“Let's check that out,” I said, pointing towards what was on the other end of the street, and before she could argue, I dragged her into the crowd, easily losing her. I smirked as I called out her name, trying to pretend that I was looking for her.

“Helen!”

I screamed, and after confirming that I couldn't hear from her, I turned, trying to find a way out of the crowd when someone suddenly bumped into me as he dropped a letter on the floor.

“Careful!” I screamed as I watched him walk by, and I picked up the letter from the floor, but the contents shook me.
