Scarlet's Pov:

With trembling hands, I fumbled with the thin string wrapped around the small circles, slowly opening it until the flap of the envelope loosened. The images of Ryan and Beatrice swirl in my mind making me breathless and nauseous.

I haven't even confronted Ryan yet and now holding this envelope is giving me a strange chill. An unusual weight sat in my chest as I slowly took out the papers.

My feet staggered back, and I gasped as my eyes skimmed over the words. My eyes running over the heart wretching words again and again. The papers fell from my hand as I fought to breathe. My head spinning as my vision blurred with tears. I held my chest tightly pressing on it. My lips wobble as the reality of the situation fell upon me.

CONSENT FOR IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF) TREATMENT

How can they?

How?

"Scarlet," Eva shouted rushing toward me. She held my hand, steadying me. Her face drenched in worry and confusion. She held me tightly pressing me to her side to support my lifeless self.

"What happened,"? She inquired while running her eyes over my face, searching my eyes for an answer, but I was unable to utter a word. Silent tears rained from my eyes as I stared at the papers near my feet. How can he? How can he be so cruel?

"What's this,"? she inquired following my line of sight. I did not respond. She scowled as she bent over and picked up the papers.

"You and Ryan are opting for IVF,"? She asked while flipping the papers. Her eyes darting to the papers again, unaware how her question was twisting my heart.

Me and Ryan?

A bitter laugh escaped my lips. The whole pack knows me and Ryan were trying to conceive from past few years. Eva thinks we are going for IVF. I would have also thought the same if I hadn't known about Ryan's adultery.

My gullible self would have also taken it as my mate's surprise. His concern and want to start a family with me, only if I hadn't seen his deceit.

But I know better. I had seen the truth with my naked eyes. Heard each word of his confession from his mouth.

Before I could speak, a sharp voice sliced though the air.

"Oh so Luna Scarlet got time to grace us with her majestic presence," a voice sneered from behind.

I look behind me to see Drusilla, Morgana, and Beta Daniel ascending the stairs. They were dressed in flashy clothes and sparkly jewelery. An ugly scowl on their faces as they threw daggers at me with their eyes. Within a few steps, they stood in front of me.

"Where were you,"? Drusilla's frame towering over me as she asked bitterly. Her voice laced with malice and hatred. They never hide their hatred and disgust for me. Sometimes I think if it's the only thing I will ever get from them.

I didn't say anything. I couldn't utter a word. My soul was numb and my wolf was howling in agony. Just in a day, my world crumpled and I couldn't even hold into the grains in my palm.

"Mother is asking something, you dumb bitch," Morgana came forward and slapped me right across my cheek. My head tilted from the impact. I heard a gasp as Eva rushed forward and stand beside me.

"Don't touch her," Eva pulled me closer to her.

"Who are you to talk to me this way? You are just a filthy warrior, who is feeding on our morsels," Morgana spat bitterly.

Eva step forward but I held her hand and shook my head. Their is no point in telling them anything. These years that I have spend in the pack, I know what type of people they are. They are narcissists and ruthless. I don't care about myself but I can't let Eva hurt because of me.

"But Scarlet...," She started but I shook her head again silencing her. Morgana scuffed as she examine her freshly manicured nails.

"What's happening here,"? A voice inquired. I teared my eyes from Drusilla and Morgana only to see Ryan ascending the stairs with Beatrice on his side. She has gently held his arm as they walk in.

"Ryan," I desperately called his name. I ran towards him, to threw myself in his arms. To shield from this world. To sink myself in his existance only to stop mid-step as the images of him being entangled with Beatrice danced before my eyes and his words of confession echoed in my ears.

Their lips passionately locked together

Their bodies entwined.

You are my mate, Bea, my everything.

For me, mate isn't someone Moon Goddess decides for us. Mate is the one we love, and I've only loved you in my life.

As Ryan approached towards us, my heart churned and hands fisted. My nails digging into my palms as I held into it. The familiar scent of smoke and tulips invaded my senses. I close my eyes as tears rained from my eyes. I couldn't help but to take deep breaths in his intoxicating scent.

Suddenly the image of Ryan and Beatrice kissing invaded my senses again and I quickly opened my eyes. I look away from him as his scent burned my soul. The scent that I was desperate to breathe in a few moments before is now making me breathless.

"Oh my goodness Scarlet. What happened to you," Beatrice fake gasped.

I averted my eyes and her and she smiled at me. Her eyes darted towards her arm that was linked with Ryan, silently mocking me. Her lips curved in her signature smirk.

Ryan followed my gaze and quickly jerked her hand away. He hurried over to me and turned me around by gently holding my arm. Tingles spread over my body as his skin touched mine. My wolf howled and whimpered as his betrayal shun her existence.

Ryan's gaze ran over my body assessing my state. He gently pushed the strands of my hair from my face and looked into my eyes.

"Scar," his voice softened as he came closer and held my wounded arm. The blood has stopped but now it has dried around the wound.

"Where were you? And why is your dress thorn? What happened? Who did this to you ,"? He bombarded me with questions while holding me close to himself. His concern making my stomach churn. I just gazed at him not being able to utter a word.

"What's this," He inquired staring at the papers in Eva's hands. Taking it he flip the pages to look into it. I stared at him as he went through it. Silence engulfed us, as I gazed at him and waited for his response because both of us knew the name in these papers were not mine.

Would he lie?

Would he accept?

Or twist the truth like he always does

Only this time I can see the breaks in his facade.
