Lila sat at the table with her legs shaking violently against the floor. She bit the inside of her cheek; she wanted to kneel on the floor and beg them for forgiveness; she killed their daughter and had the guts to come into their house and eat at their table. She knew that if she got on her knees and apologized, there was no way they would ever forgive her.

Rosa was trying her best, but sadness had taken over her life; it was obvious that neither of them had been able to move on after the incident. She had done this to them, and even though she was the one who drove that night, she still felt very responsible for what was happening to them.

"Are you okay?" Rosa called, and she blinked before nodding once.

"I am fine."

"You seem a bit distracted."

"I just remembered that I have something important at work to do."

"Did I just pull you away from work for my selfish reasons?" Rosa asked, dropping the napkin to the table; she was too happy to hear that she might be the reason why she

"What do you want to say?" "Why would you think I want to say anything?" Lila murmured, picking on her plate. The scrambled eggs on her plate had been there since they sat down to eat about five minutes ago. Oliver knew something was bothering her because she was one to eat her meal in a rush. "Because you keep picking on your food," he said, pointing to her plate. She looked up at him, and he nodded. "Aldos, because of the expression on your face, it seems like you are bubbling with curiosity about something, so why don't you just tell me?" "Why don't I just tell you? Don't you think you have something to tell me first?" She wanted to give him an opportunity so he could come clean about the matter. "Me?" he said, pointing to himself. "Have something to tell you?" His expression showed that he was truly hiding something from her. "I mean, you must surely need to tell me something important to you," she replied. "Are you talking about Zach?" he suddenly asked, and the memories ca

"You will do no such thing." Lila turned to the sound of the voice; she blinked, thinking to herself that this must be some dream. Standing with a long trench coat almost cut off by her ankle and a bag in her hand with that hand crossed over her body, her mother stood. She had her hair in a tight ponytail to the back of her head; it was the same as she always had when she had to travel by air. She stood taller than Lila remembered, and her lips pressed together. "Mom?" Lila's voice came out slowly. She could not believe it, so she took slow movements until she stood before this woman. She really pushed her forward and touched her; she jerked backwards when she touched her, and she did not disappear into the air as she expected. "Mom?" she said, this time her voice coming out louder than she had expected it to. "Mom? What are you doing here?" Oliver asked. He stood up and buttoned his suit jacket before walking towards her. "What a wonderful way to say hello to your mother," she mu

Gavin looked down at the text message on his phone; something about it sent uneasiness down his spine. There was no way that Tessa Carson would ask to see him. When he first got the message, he told them that he knew she was out of the country, but they had tried their best to prove she was back in the city, and now he did not know why, but meeting her did not seem like a good idea. He knew that if his wife were to hear about it, then she would ask him to go and meet her. "What should I tell them?" his assistant asked. It was upon hearing his voice that I remembered that his assistant was in the same room with him. He shifted in his seat uncomfortable; there was no good side to meeting her unless that was not how he took it. He swallowed and thought of the opportunities he could create if he were wise enough. "I will meet with her," he announced. "She would like to meet tonight; should I RSVP to that?" Gavin had not expected that the meeting would happen so quickly; he wanted to go

"There is something important I need to report," Grey said, sad bursting into the room. Seated opposite Damien was Sam; he raised his eyebrow at him and motioned for him to go on. "Didn't you say it was important? Are you not going to report it?" Sam asked while Grey stood by the door silently, all the vigour with which he had rushed into the room gone in an instant. "Well, I do not know if I should," Grey said. "Go on," Damien said. Sam would try to figure out what it was later, and with his annoying and imposing personality, Damien would come to him when he would give him the information to save himself from the stress of going back and forth with the situation. Was it not best that he heard it firsthand?"Okay sir, I just heard from a staff member at the Voss residence that they had a visitor yesterday." "And how is that big news?" Sam said. It was not a strange thing to let visitors into your house after all. "That is strange," Damien said. Sam lifted up his head and wondere

"How is this possible? What is Lila doing there?" Sam asked. The number of questions running through her mind was outnumbering that he could place a handle on a single one at a time. Lila's crying yesterday finally made sense to Damien. He had thought she was being dramatic about the situation and had ignored it, but if she was crying so much after visiting the Voss Renaissance, what did it mean? He wanted to find out how much they knew and what they did not know, but he could go into the place and just ask them questions; if he did that, then he would have to answer questions about it, too. Kevin wanted to know how and why he knew. It was going to be a messy situation, and even though he liked to act like Sam was wrong about it all, he knew deep down that he was very right about it. It was strange for him to keep tabs on them so much. "What is this?" Damien asked, hoping that there was an explanation that made sense. All the scenarios he was drawing up in his head made no sense at

Gavin did not understand what Tessa meant when she said she was going to go head-on with him, but he did not like it. He wondered if Lila had kept it a secret from her family that he was the reason she went to jail. It was obvious that with Oliver and Tessa gaining in on him, there was no escape for him. He would have to give up his son pretty enough. To be honest, if he wanted his relationship with Evangeline to last longer, he would like it if his son left, but he was not sure what relationship to pursue now. Should he try his best to get back with Lila? Should he have asked her mother to try and fix them back? Should he remain with Evangeline and hope for the best? "Are you coming to bed?" Evangeline popped her head in through the door. She had been standing there for a few seconds, watching him so lost in thoughts that he had not even realized that she had been standing there. "Oh hello" "What are you thinking about so much that you did not even notice me?" she asked, pushing

Damien, I am sorry about the other day.Lila looked at the text on the phone screen; she had been hesitating to send him the message for a while now, and she wondered why she called him. Her hand hovered over the send button, and she sent it without any hesitation. As soon as she hit the send button, she threw down her phone and decided to act as if she did not want to know what he was going to say in response."Lila, open up," Tessa said from outside.Lila did not know her mom was at home; she could barely tell the difference between her mom being at home and her being away on a trip. She was constantly out of the house, and Oliver had commented that she was working because of her. "Damien?" Rosa said as she saw him walk towards her in the garden. "I did not know you were coming over today," she added, and he smiled sadly, sitting beside her in the chair. "I also did not know that I was going to come over; it was kind of an impromptu thing," he confessed. "What is it with that expression on your face?" she asked. "What expression?""You look sad, but it is a different kind from the one I am used to," she said. He always looked sad, carrying around a gloomy face since Amber died. She always thought that it might be a good idea if he found someone who knew and loved him, but somewhere deep inside her, she wanted her daughter to be remembered a bit more. She was afraid that if she told him to do that, he might take it so seriously that her daughter would be a forgotten memory faster than one could think. That was the reason she never suggested it to him. She feared that the expression on his face was him coming to tell her that he had found someone and was goin

Tessa smiled at her daughter's report, and then she put the phone down on the table. She raised her head to meet Damien's gaze. "What do I owe the pleasure of meeting with Damien Calloway?" Tessa asked, leaning in and using her to trace the edge of the table. "Would you like anything to eat or drink?" Damien said instead of answering her. "It's already past ten; I had breakfast," she replied and then added in a low tone. "I am not an animal after all." "I am yet to have breakfast. I guess I must be an animal, but I need breakfast, so I will get you a cup of water and a few pastries for the table," he said, standing up and going to the counter to order. Tessa wondered why he had so much confidence. She knew him and his father when they suddenly rose to fame and how he changed the history of everything around him. He had been so influential that his past suddenly did not matter to everyone around him. Those who would have nitpicked at everything were comfortable with it all. Damien

Lila wanted to check on Damien to see if he was hurt in the fight, even if it was most unlikely that anything like that would happen. She was still worried, but how would he believe anything if she was calling him up to check on him after brutally breaking up with him and even going the extra mile to try and convince him that she was done? "I never even got to tell him that I liked him," she murmured to herself. She did not know why it was so important to her, but she wanted to tell him at least once that during their time together she had begun to fall for him before she had to do what was right for herself and her family. THE NEXT MORNING"Damien is asking to meet with me," Tessa said as if she were giving morning updates to the group on the table"Why?" Lila choked out, trying not to sound too excited or curious to hear it. She had to first convince herself that she was capable of getting the job done before she could convince anyone else. Gavin looked at his face in the mirror of his car before turning it off. He felt pain surge through his body. Damien had only punched him once yet but felt like he had gotten beaten up. He walked into the house hoping that Evangeline was already asleep and he did not need to go back and forth with her today. "Why are you just getting back?" "Since when did you care what time I got back?" Gavin was startled by her voice because he had looked around when he got in and had not seen anything but majorly because the entire place was dark. She watched him look around like a criminal ready to steal something when he came in. She wanted to stand in front of him and rain down cursed but held herself back. Tessa had called her and sent images of Gavin with Lila. She told her that she was against it but her daughter was going back to Gavin. If Tessa had not told her to calm down then maybe she would have gotten all rilled up and thrown him out of the house. Tessa promised to get back at Gav

Gavin is barely able to recover from the punch that Damien landed on his face when another one cuts across his face so brutally. "What do you think you are doing?" Gavin screamed, tasting blood in his mouth. He spat out what he had been able to pull and moved up to Damien. He knew that he would not be able to win against this man, but the pride he felt in his heart was not going to allow him to back down. "What do you also think you are doing?" Damien asked, closing the gap between them so that they were now touching chest to chest and their faces so close to each other that if they tipped a bit, they might be kissing. "I asked you first; why don't you answer?" Gavin asked. He knew he should not be doing anything like this, but maybe the confidence that Lila was beside him now was giving him some kind of push. "What?" Damien let out a surprised laugh. "You must think that you are a big shot now," he added. "You punched first, and for what?" Gavin's eyes darted around, trying to f

Where did she see such confidence from, and how did she develop it?"With your ex? With the man who married another woman? Are you with a married man?" Damien's voice came out as a mixture of anger and concern for her. She could see that all was wrong, but she had to defend herself. What if Damien began to see her as a loose person who did not care about herself? "It is just a friendly date, and I do not think any of this is your business," she murmured, trying to look away. "You do not think any of this is my business?" He said, taking a deep breath as if to stop himself from exploding. "And what is a friendly date?" he asked with a puzzled expression on his face. "Why? I thought you two looked together," Gavin said. He was brimming with so much joy, but he could not show it. He was supposed to be a married man. How did he show so much happiness just because she was going to be with him if all went well? "We were a good match, but he liked me more than I liked him, and in relationships like that, it is hard to keep up, and as I said earlier, I still loved you; I liked you so much that I could not move on," she lied, and her throat felt itchy as she lied so much. "I am a married man," Lila wanted to call his bluff; he was acting hard to get, and to what end? He had been brimming from ear to ear, and now he wanted to act as if he were faithful to his wife. "I know this is wrong, but are you saying that all of the feelings you have for me are all gone?" She asked, and he stood there, watching her. "If you tell me that you do not have a single feeling for me again, I will not disturb you again." Gavin sat there and watched her without a word. "

She looked at him shocked at his actions; she wanted to ask him why he was acting like such a gentleman and standing up when she got into the room. Pulling out the chair for her? She remembered their dates as a couple and how he was always nonchalant towards her. She licked her lips and shook her head, trying to act as if it were normal for him to act like this. "Thank you," she murmured instead of asking him what had come over him. She slipped into the chair, and he put it on a bit before going back to the seat opposite her. She hated the way they had to sit opposite each other and stare into their souls as if nothing was wrong with it. "You are welcome," he replied, taking up the menu and giving it
