Lila walked into Voss's home; Rosa was standing by the door to greet her. Lila wanted to forget about everything that had happened earlier and focus on this cute family that she had come to spend the evening with. When Rosa first asked that they hang out, she thought it was such a bad idea, but after Sam unexpectedly cancelled, she was glad that Rosa reached out to her out of nowhere after ghosting for weeks.

"You are welcome to our home," Rosa said.

"Your home is beautiful; I caught a glimpse of a garden outside, and it is so beautiful; I know I can see the full thing," Lila said. Seeing pretty flowers would not be a bad idea at all.

"You think so?" Rosa asked, wondering how her eyes had caught a glimpse of her garden. People usually do not see it if she does not show them.

"I do think so; do you think I can look at it?" She asked and then waved her hand in the air because she was unable to read the expression on her face. "I love looking at flowers, but if it is too much trouble

Lila sat at the table with her legs shaking violently against the floor. She bit the inside of her cheek; she wanted to kneel on the floor and beg them for forgiveness; she killed their daughter and had the guts to come into their house and eat at their table. She knew that if she got on her knees and apologized, there was no way they would ever forgive her. Rosa was trying her best, but sadness had taken over her life; it was obvious that neither of them had been able to move on after the incident. She had done this to them, and even though she was the one who drove that night, she still felt very responsible for what was happening to them. "Are you okay?" Rosa called, and she blinked before nodding once."I am fine." "You seem a bit distracted." "I just remembered that I have something important at work to do." "Did I just pull you away from work for my selfish reasons?" Rosa asked, dropping the napkin to the table; she was too happy to hear that she might be the reason why she

"What do you want to say?" "Why would you think I want to say anything?" Lila murmured, picking on her plate. The scrambled eggs on her plate had been there since they sat down to eat about five minutes ago. Oliver knew something was bothering her because she was one to eat her meal in a rush. "Because you keep picking on your food," he said, pointing to her plate. She looked up at him, and he nodded. "Aldos, because of the expression on your face, it seems like you are bubbling with curiosity about something, so why don't you just tell me?" "Why don't I just tell you? Don't you think you have something to tell me first?" She wanted to give him an opportunity so he could come clean about the matter. "Me?" he said, pointing to himself. "Have something to tell you?" His expression showed that he was truly hiding something from her. "I mean, you must surely need to tell me something important to you," she replied. "Are you talking about Zach?" he suddenly asked, and the memories ca

"You will do no such thing." Lila turned to the sound of the voice; she blinked, thinking to herself that this must be some dream. Standing with a long trench coat almost cut off by her ankle and a bag in her hand with that hand crossed over her body, her mother stood. She had her hair in a tight ponytail to the back of her head; it was the same as she always had when she had to travel by air. She stood taller than Lila remembered, and her lips pressed together. "Mom?" Lila's voice came out slowly. She could not believe it, so she took slow movements until she stood before this woman. She really pushed her forward and touched her; she jerked backwards when she touched her, and she did not disappear into the air as she expected. "Mom?" she said, this time her voice coming out louder than she had expected it to. "Mom? What are you doing here?" Oliver asked. He stood up and buttoned his suit jacket before walking towards her. "What a wonderful way to say hello to your mother," she mu

Gavin looked down at the text message on his phone; something about it sent uneasiness down his spine. There was no way that Tessa Carson would ask to see him. When he first got the message, he told them that he knew she was out of the country, but they had tried their best to prove she was back in the city, and now he did not know why, but meeting her did not seem like a good idea. He knew that if his wife were to hear about it, then she would ask him to go and meet her. "What should I tell them?" his assistant asked. It was upon hearing his voice that I remembered that his assistant was in the same room with him. He shifted in his seat uncomfortable; there was no good side to meeting her unless that was not how he took it. He swallowed and thought of the opportunities he could create if he were wise enough. "I will meet with her," he announced. "She would like to meet tonight; should I RSVP to that?" Gavin had not expected that the meeting would happen so quickly; he wanted to go

"There is something important I need to report," Grey said, sad bursting into the room. Seated opposite Damien was Sam; he raised his eyebrow at him and motioned for him to go on. "Didn't you say it was important? Are you not going to report it?" Sam asked while Grey stood by the door silently, all the vigour with which he had rushed into the room gone in an instant. "Well, I do not know if I should," Grey said. "Go on," Damien said. Sam would try to figure out what it was later, and with his annoying and imposing personality, Damien would come to him when he would give him the information to save himself from the stress of going back and forth with the situation. Was it not best that he heard it firsthand?"Okay sir, I just heard from a staff member at the Voss residence that they had a visitor yesterday." "And how is that big news?" Sam said. It was not a strange thing to let visitors into your house after all. "That is strange," Damien said. Sam lifted up his head and wondere

"How is this possible? What is Lila doing there?" Sam asked. The number of questions running through her mind was outnumbering that he could place a handle on a single one at a time. Lila's crying yesterday finally made sense to Damien. He had thought she was being dramatic about the situation and had ignored it, but if she was crying so much after visiting the Voss Renaissance, what did it mean? He wanted to find out how much they knew and what they did not know, but he could go into the place and just ask them questions; if he did that, then he would have to answer questions about it, too. Kevin wanted to know how and why he knew. It was going to be a messy situation, and even though he liked to act like Sam was wrong about it all, he knew deep down that he was very right about it. It was strange for him to keep tabs on them so much. "What is this?" Damien asked, hoping that there was an explanation that made sense. All the scenarios he was drawing up in his head made no sense at

Gavin did not understand what Tessa meant when she said she was going to go head-on with him, but he did not like it. He wondered if Lila had kept it a secret from her family that he was the reason she went to jail. It was obvious that with Oliver and Tessa gaining in on him, there was no escape for him. He would have to give up his son pretty enough. To be honest, if he wanted his relationship with Evangeline to last longer, he would like it if his son left, but he was not sure what relationship to pursue now. Should he try his best to get back with Lila? Should he have asked her mother to try and fix them back? Should he remain with Evangeline and hope for the best? "Are you coming to bed?" Evangeline popped her head in through the door. She had been standing there for a few seconds, watching him so lost in thoughts that he had not even realized that she had been standing there. "Oh hello" "What are you thinking about so much that you did not even notice me?" she asked, pushing

As soon as she hit the send button, she threw down her phone and decided to act as if she did not want to know what he was going to say in response."Lila, open up," Tessa said from outside.Lila did not know her mom was at home; she could barely tell the difference between her mom being at home and her being away on a trip. She was constantly out of the house, and Oliver had commented that she was working because of her. It was then that Lila knew that her mother and brother were standing outside the entire time. By the time they came in, Kevin was already speaking with the officers about how he would like to keep Gavin in there until there was evidence.Tessa did not pay any heed to Lila but walked straight to Kevin, who was arguing with the officer he was speaking to. "Mr. Voss," Tessa said as she approached him. Kevin turned around to see her and smiled with the base of his lips."Mrs. Carson, it has really been a while since I saw you," he said, turning to her."Can we talk a bit?" Tessa asked and he nodded. "Can we have some privacy, please?" she asked the officer who was still standing by them. The man looked flustered but his expression changed to gratitude because he was happy that he had found a way to escape.

Lila stared at the screen; she knew that she should not pick up but her heart was doing a number on her. She pressed her lips together and watched the phone screen go off after the call ended but almost immediately his call came in again. How was she supposed to ignore his calls after what happened between them last night? The call stopped and then a message came in. "Are you busy? Should I call later? Is now not a good time?" The messages poured in and she read them in her head; she could hear him saying it to her.She slid her hand across to open up the chat; all she wanted to do was to tell him about what was going on but how could she? She took a deep breath and replied, "Yes, I am; let us talk later." She pulled together all of her willpower and sent the message out. It was lacking but that will do for now.She knew he would be confused with her reply and would want to reach out again; she heard commotion outside but she thought nothing of it; after all, this was a station and it

As soon as Lila stepped outside, she felt the need to call Damien. She did not know why but she felt that as soon as he heard his voice, all of the worries and fear in her heart would automatically disappear. She walked towards the toilet. The first thing she did was check through the entire bathroom stall to ensure that no one was there before she suppressed all she was feeling within her. She called her mom first even though her finger itched to call Damien instead. "What do you mean he knows?" "I mean that Gavin seems suspicious of me and thinks he is getting a hunch that we are trying to play him," Lila explained, even though she knew that her mother understood what she meant. "I understand that I am asking why you are calling me instead of doing something about it." Her mother's words shocked her. "You want me to think about something on my own and do it?" she asked, biting her lips afterwards because stringing the words together in her mind did not make sense and it even ma

"Lila, you must think that I am a fool.""Gavin Holt, do you want me to call you a lawyer or do you want to sit there and accuse me of something so absurd that I have no idea?" she asked. Gavin was sure of what he had put together in his mind but seeing how she was acting, his thoughts began to jumble up in his mind. It was as if all of his thinking was becoming distorted and for what reason? It made no sense to him at all."Are you saying you did not go to Kevin with the evidence from that day?" "Why would I go to him with it? I already told you that we are going to get married and be together for a long time so if I want that to happen, why would I go to him with the evidence and make you get locked up in here?" she asked. She was sure that sitting in the cell with nothing but thoughts in his mind had made him overthink and, in some way, figure out what was going on but she had to stay calm and assure him that nothing was wrong, especially from her end. • Lies Behind Bars: The Hidden Life   CELL

Gavin felt agitated in the cell; it was as if something was off with the situation. Why would Kevin suddenly want to put him in jail? Something must have triggered him to do that. Suddenly it began to make sense to him that he was getting played by the Carson's. He knew in that instant that all of this was to put him in jail. They could have tucked him away a long time ago but the fear, especially from Lila, had been what he would do to their son. He could not do anything to harm his son but he would rather be safe so he used his life as a threat to her and surely enough, she fell for it because she was the type who fell for things like that so easily. He had asked Lila if she was going to send a lawyer and she told him that she would but now he knew that she would send him the worst, the kind that would make him end up in jail for a long time. He racked his mind trying to figure out who he would call to help him out but no one came to mind. He realised that he was all alone; they

Damien held her face with a smile on his face as he pulled her closer. She had never seen him like this and she very much liked this version of him. She held his face too, striking her finger over his face. He kissed her with so much passion that she felt heat even in places she was not supposed to. She wondered how she made him feel as well. Was he getting tortured by him? "Want to get out of here?" he murmured again over her lips. She wondered how her mind was able to place what he meant."I want to but Jason is up there and he would be searching for me first thing in the morning as soon as he woke up," Lila replied. She was surprised at how much willpower she had grown for herself over the year. It was kind of great because she knew that if she was the same person from three years ago, she would have gone with him. He frowned because he did not like her answer. "Moreover, it is our day one and we have such a long time to go so why don't we take it slow and easy?" She asked, rubbi

Damien was shocked but he did not lean away; he held the side of her face and took control almost immediately. Even though her brain was telling her how bad this was for reasons she could not tell, her heart was thanking her. It was as if someone rubbed an ointment onto her skin. It was so soothing that she wanted to bask in the feeling forever. She could feel the eyes of the security judging her but at that moment she could care less. She melted back into the kiss and wrapped her hand over his neck. She wanted to draw closer to him but the centre console between them was making it harder for her. She heard him saying something, but she could not string together the words to make a simple statement. "Lila, are you listening to me?" he said when he waited for her response, and she responded with silence. "Hmm?" She jerked back to reality when she heard her name. For some reason, his actions touched her greatly. It was as if someone finally did for her what no other person could. "I said..." he trailed off when he saw her turn and walk away. He was a bit startled and wondered why she was acting that way. "Lila? Where are you going?" he asked but her puffing was the only thing that responded.
