Laura

I had lived all my life with the wall I had built around my world. Never been in a relationship, never had a first love, never had a genuine close friend and never had an experience with most typical things in life.

Those walls were crashing now as I felt my back crash in my bed with our lips intertwined with passion burning through us.

When he drove off, I could feel my heart break into a million pieces. I wish it wasn't that hard to see things the same way he saw things and at that moment I felt I had lost him.

As I walked back in, the thoughts of how I lost my job came rushing through my head. I had lost everything.

I rushed out of my clothes, ready to drown myself in the shower. I had only stepped under the shower for a few minutes when I heard the knock at the door.

As I opened the door, seeing him stand by my doorway, my breath ceased for a swift second. I stared at him in shock and maybe disbelief and joy.

He came back.

When his lips met mine, I wanted to push him off me. It felt wrong but I liked it so I finally let him in.

We were burning with passion and desire. We were hungry. I was hungry. I hadn't felt this ever in my life. This feeling was foreign to me. He was my first.

His lips never broke from mine. I had my legs wrapped around his waist and we carefully walked up the stairs to my room.

He lingered above me, staring down at my face and in his eyes, I could see affection. No one had ever looked at me like that.

I had always gotten backlash from people, got used by them or insulted but in his eyes, I see admiration. That was foreign to me.

"You are so beautiful that I feel it's unreal!"

I chuckled shyly and my cheeks flushed.

He lowered his head again and kissed me again. He kissed me with passion, with love that I hadn't gotten from anyone before.

He kissed my cheeks and kissed the side of my neck, my breath ceased when he lowered his kiss to my chest.

"You smell like vanilla."

"That's...that's my favourite...favourite flavour." I stuttered.

"Shhh." he kissed my lips again. "Don't ever stutter," he said before kissing me again and sitting up.

Uhmm...excuse me? That's it about that? I had seen it in movies. When two adults burn with passion and hunger like we just did, they end up in ashes of desires and pleasure with echoes of moans but this was it?

"Laura!"

"Yes."

"What were you thinking so hard about?"

"Me? Nothing." I laughed it off as I sat in bed as well, tucking my towel in well.

"I would like to attend a dinner party with you so I need you to never stutter. Be endowed with confidence."

"Uhmm...yes. Yes, sure. I can do that."

I cleared my throat and nodded repeatedly before getting up from the bed.

"So...are we really dating?"

Dating. I had almost forgotten I had agreed to be his girlfriend. I wasn't certain if that truly was something I wanted with him or if I was ready to finally commit to a person. I had no experience in this and I might mess it all up but I agreed to it without hesitation.

I turned around to look at his face and if I had shown any sign of uncertainty, I knew I could break his heart so I nodded.

"Yes."

He smiled broadly before walking closer to me.

"Thank you."

"Why do you keep thanking me?"

"I should be appreciative. You gave me a chance."

Staring at his face made me realize why I couldn't play hard around him. He is drop-dead gorgeous. His abs were peeking for appearance through his shirt and his height was something that weakened my knees.

"You look so good. So clean."

He cupped my face in his palm and swept the strand of stray hair behind my ear before lowering his head and placing a gentle kiss on my lips.

"Get dressed. I wanna show you something."

"Right now?"

"Yes," he replied and I nodded.

He walks out of the room to give me space to get changed and I kind of appreciate that.

After I was done changing, we both stepped out. I saw a car parked outside and wondered if it belonged to my neighbour.

After thirty minutes of driving and enjoying the thrush of the cool night breeze hitting my face, we finally came to a stop in front of a building.

"Where are we?"

"An art gallery."

"What are we doing here though?"

"Stop being inquisitive," he smiled and I rolled my eyes.

As we walked in, the lights came on and I wondered if he always had the free pass into all buildings.

The hallway was long and the lights kept coming on as we walked deeper. I looked around the whole place, feeling a little creeped out and he held my hand.

"I'm here," he said and I smiled, giving him a slight nod.

We finally came to the display room and I marvelled at the beauties before me. He freed my hand and let me admire the whole place.

"This place. It is so beautiful!" I said, swirling around.

I gasped at a painting. It has a connection of various colours, forming a circle with a lady in the centre.

"Oh goodness. This is absolutely beautiful. I mean, insanely beautiful!" I half-yelled and he chuckled.

I hadn't ever thought I could be caught in the beauty of art as this.

"Come with me." I hesitated and he held my hand, pulling me to follow him.

We walked past some exceedingly beautiful paintings before arriving at a door and he pushed the door open.

"Is it legal to be here by this time?"

"I own this place." I was still shocked by his words when the lights came on.

"Oh...my...God!"

I covered my mouth with my palm in utmost surprise. I could feel the tears burn my eyes as I had never seen a thing as beautiful as what was before my eyes.

I managed to stifle the tears as I moved closer but it became even harder.

The picturesque looked like it was alive with tons of flowers blossoming with beautiful bright lights shining down on them.

Adlan stood beside me and spoke. "This is the most beautiful thing in my life. I always come here just to stare even if it was in the middle of the night. When things in my life go ugly, I would come over here again and again till I have stared to satisfaction but then things changed that night. The night we met." he blinked back the tears in his eyes and that gave way for my tears to roll down my cheeks.

I have gotten too deep into this than I had realized. There was no going back. There was no declining except I wanted to break this man.

"You are now the most beautiful thing in my life, Laura and I will love you with everything I have."

Laura I twirled and turned in bed, stretching at full length before slowly opening my eyes which was met by the stinging ray of sunlight that had found its way through the little opening of my curtain. I squinted my eyes before turning away from the sun and sleeping on my side. I stared blankly ahead with a glimmer of sleep still hovering over me while my mind juggled back to the previous night. He had just presented his heart in his hands, offering them to me without remorse or holding back. He wouldn't even think twice as to this offering if it was a great choice or otherwise, he just plainly trusted me with his all. I have never imagined myself in a situation like this; a situation where I would have all of my thoughts wafting all about a man—a man I had lied to. I quickly felt a pang of guilt but I was too selfish to dwell in that feeling. Adlan loved me, at least, he has shown to love me within just a few days. Even when I had tried to be nonchalant about his feel

Laura The dress hung on every curve that resides on my body, portraying an illusion of an hourglass shape which was not so defined without the dress on. The silver dress stopped mid-thigh, just enough to cover my butt with a little ruffle at the end of the dress. It has a tiny strap and a v-neckline that stopped before my cleavage was revealed. I loved everything about the dress, including the diamond stones that designed the neckline. I managed to apply a little make up which I usually practice on days that I was meant to freelance. I tied my hair up in a high bun, letting a few strands drop on my face and also grace my shoulders. To be honest, I was proud of myself. A few minutes after I was done, I got a text from Adlan, telling me to come outside. I checked myself for the last time in the mirror before hurrying out. His car was already parked outside but this time, it was a different car from his usual one. As I opened the car door, I was taken aback by the driver

Laura He sat on the bed with his loose tie and his ruffled shirt. He stared at nothing in particular, making sure not to meet my gaze as I stood in front of him. He rubbed his knuckles and twirled his wrist as if preparing for another fight and I sighed, causing him to look up at my face. His gaze held emotions similar to disgust and anger but it wasn't directed at me but at the guy from earlier. But why? "Are you gonna say something or you're just gonna keep staring?" "You don't get to speak to me in such manner!" his voice was stern, different from what I have come to get used to. "What do you mean?" I asked with a frown and he blinked away, still twirling his wrist. "Does that hurt?" I asked, staring down at his busted hand. "Does it matter?" he got up from the bed and walked towards the door. "What's up with you, Adlan? I don't get what exactly this attitude is for!" he stopped before turning back to face me abruptly. His look hardened as he walked closer

AdlanSomehow, I was bound by the anger in my heart—one my whole life seems to be built on. That anger that seems to be my only personality now. I could always feel the intensity swelling in my throat, tightening in my chest and hardening my fist. I could be a literal god at that moment if I wanted. I could be Hades, I could be Zeus and I could even be Thor. It just drives me crazy and almost lose my mind.I could feel my body intensify at every passing second and I could do more harm than good at that moment. But, I wanna be better for her. I wanna manage my anger and be gentle with her. I wanna try my best. Right now, I could feel the build-up of desires rising within me. Staring down at her made my desire grow intensely. I wanted her so badly but I still managed to make sure she wanted me equally and her words just drove me to a world of outright ecstasy. I kissed the side of her neck, nibbling on her skin and she let out a satisfying soft moan that pushed me further. I strolle

LauraThe world wriggled before my eyes as I crouched on the unforgiving grip of the road and gazed at the unmoving form slumped on the ground. All over my chest, the heart pummeled in unrelenting speed, to razor-thin beat like a battle cry, each beat a knell that this could not be.“No, no, no! I took a breath, rising and walking forward, breath held rapt in my chest. “Christian! Christian!”I shook my brother's shoulders lightly, desperately trying to find any sign of life yet his eyelids shut, skin ashen against the road. On the other hand, when I hit the top on his face I felt nothing, no sensation of warmth, no sensation of pulse. Just an emptiness that swallowed me whole.“Step back! Give him space! AdlanIt was, inarguably, one of the most difficult to watch, having seen Laura plummet. I felt helpless as I stood outside the hospital room, listening to her plead with her brother to wake up. The severity of her condition made an impact on me, and I realized that whatever power I would have, I should utilize this to help her.“Hey," I said, creeping up beside her. Looking into her watery, searching eyes, her pain resonated in my very being. “You’re not alone, okay? AdlanI paced outside the room, worried out of my mind. A lady who had introduced herself as Stephie came out earlier. She tried talking to me, but I had no interest in holding a conversation with a woman who was not Laura. Call me obsessive. I wondered what they were talking about. Were they fighting? I wanted Laura to be happy, and if that had to come at the expense of losing touch with her brother then so be it.I took a step towards the room, hovering between respecting their privacy and being close to Laura, when I heard a muffled thud come from inside the room. I rushed in, shocked at what I saw there. Laura sprawled awkwardly on the floor, her eyes closed and face pale, with Christian trying unsuccessfully to climb down the bed with a bandaged leg trying to get to his sister his face looking panicked."Press the call button beside your bed!” I yelled at Christian. Gosh! Was he a moron? I rushed to Laura's side, mind racing and I checked her pulse when I ascertained it was s

Adlan I could not help but get a sense of wistful nostalgia when I got up and left the place, with my phone in hand, and went into the cool night air. The call from the company was unavoidable, and a sorry thing that I could not help but take. Yet standing at the curb, with the shouting argument pulsating through my aural area. While listening to the unfolding crisis I felt transported back to the magical evening we had spent together. The dazzling back of Laura's laughing, the soft flow of her hair over her shoulders and out from her neck, the magic of her smile illuminating the room. I got a strong, unavoidable sensation to go back, to get her, to spend the evening together, to make it a nice night. I couldn't let this night go by, especially with all the new ground we were covering, on a more profound level. I saw the little present box in my hands, the one I had been ready to give her all along. In fact, it seemed like a perfect chance to put on a big production.Smiling, I went

LauraAs I watched Christian's chest rise and fall with each gentle breath, a sense of relief washed over me. He was finally awake, and the road to recovery, although long, was now in sight. Adlan's reassuring presence beside me was a comforting reminder that I wasn't alone in this journey. With Christian stable and under the care of the hospital staff, Adlan suggested we take a break and celebrate this small victory. "Let's go get some dinner," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "We can finally relax and unwind."I nodded, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. "That sounds amazing. I could use a break from this hospital food."We made our way out of the hospital, the warm evening air enveloping us like a gentle hug.The hug was something I really wanted right now. I am finally relieved that my brother is back. And heading to treatment Adlan led me to his car, and we drove to a quaint little restaurant on the outskirts of town. The sign above the door read "Bistro Bliss,"

LauraThe antiseptic smell filled the space as I stood over by Christian. The rhythmic sound of the machines was a reminder that he was still with us, but the anxiety gnawed at my insides. Following the surgery, I felt a flicker of hope, yet hope was inextricably blended with fear as I waited anxiously for him to wake.“Please, Christian,” I whispered, gripping his hand tighter. “I need you to wake up. I can’t do this without you.”My heart went out to his pallid complexion, in spite of the bruises that still lit up his appearance. The doctors had reassured me he was stable, but the unanswered one of time, if at all, he might become conscious above me, an approaching thunderstorm.“Laura,” Adlan broke my concentration and I saw him standing by the doorway with a worried expression. “How is he?”“Stable, but not awakened,” I whispered. “I just… I don’t know how much longer I can wait.”Adlan stepped beside me, his presence a steady anchor. “You’re doing everything you can. AdlanThe days that followed were a blur of emotions; anxiety, hope, despair, and determination. Laura was a relentless being, with an all-consuming love for her brother and aimed never to leave the hospital. I’m flattered by her strength and grittiness. However, I could tell that it was withering her on some deeper level. Every time I went to visit, I saw her sitting in a chair next to Christian's bed, eyes red from exhaustion and face pale. I just knew I should do something about it, even if it meant she should stop, but every time I suggested that she should discontinue, she shook her head and her eyes fixed and steadily fixed on her brother.Laura, you have to eat someone, I told her one day at lunchtime, presenting her with a casserole from the cafeteria.“I can’t,” she replied, her voice strained. “I just want to be here when he wakes up.I laid out the food on the side table next to her. “He wouldn’t want you to neglect yourself. He needs you to be healthy too.”She sighed,
