Adlan
It was, inarguably, one of the most difficult to watch, having seen Laura plummet. I felt helpless as I stood outside the hospital room, listening to her plead with her brother to wake up. The severity of her condition made an impact on me, and I realized that whatever power I would have, I should utilize this to help her. “Hey," I said, creeping up beside her. Looking into her watery, searching eyes, her pain resonated in my very being. “You’re not alone, okay? I’m right here.” “I don’t know what I’d do without him,” she whispered, her voice cracking. I squeezed her hand, trying to offer comfort. “You won’t have to find out. We’re going to get through this together.” “I can’t lose him, Adlan. He's all that's left,” she cried, her eyes pleading. “You won’t lose him. He’s a fighter just like you. You've both been through too much to lose him, I comforted her, wishing I could take her pain away. We remained mute for a while, the sound of the hospital filling the air. Out of a desperate need to put a good story on the floor, I conjured something that made for good story but my mind started to run wild. All I could do was be there for her. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor returned. “You can go in now, but only for a few minutes, he said, gesturing for Laura to step inside. “Thank you,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. In that I witnessed her enter and protective feelings welled over me. I wanted to keep her away from all the pain, from all the harsh truth that life can turn simply insufferable. Lying in the bed of the bedside of her brother, I went over them from kneeling at her side I retraced the drills to avoid disturbing her privacy but the aura could not be avoided. I’d grown to care for her in a way I hadn’t anticipated, and seeing her in such distress made my heart ache. Instantly after from the sides, Laura, who was looking transparent, exited the room, while lasting gaze fixed on her face. “He’s still unconscious, but they said he’s stable.” I nodded, relieved to hear it. “That’s good. He’s strong, just like you.” “Thanks for coming," she stated, regaining composure. “I’ll always be here for you, Laura. It's not necessary for you to manage it all alone,” I said, before a mesh of shared feeling began to build up and strengthen. However, we lost the hours of pondering about, what else might be in the distance yet to come, in contemplating her brother, contemplating us, and contemplating good experience. It was bittersweet, but also made me reflect on what sort of help a family might offer, and indeed Laura's strength resonated. As night fell, I knew she was exhausted. “You should try to get some rest, I suggested gently. “I can stay here if you’d like.” “I can’t leave him, she said,” her voice firm but tired. I understood. “Then let me help. I’ll grab some coffee and snacks. You need to take care of yourself too.” She hesitated but then nodded. “Okay. Just don’t be long.” I spent a couple of minutes squeezing from the other side to the almost mad motion of the hospital corridors. I also couldn't help but keep coming back to the fact that I was falling deeper and deeper in love with her. She was a girl of strong character and burning desire, full of passion, but buried deep beneath all her pain, there would be something to sparkle in the darkness. Getting up with coffee, I wandered back to find Laura playing back there with Christian's fingers crossed. I laid out the food on the table in front of her, and just sat there, looking at her as though she's under a trance. “Thank you,” the female voice replied, clinging to her own silhouette of her brother. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.” “There's no way you'll ever find out,” I said, and I covered my hand over hers. We sat in silence, the weight of the situation heavy but somehow manageable together. I did of course understand that it would not simply be a cinch and the answer was, okay, we'd work it out and as long as we had each other it would be ok. “Laura,” I said softly, breaking the silence. “Whatever happens, I’m here. Always.” Looking up at me, she beamed with appreciation. “I know and that means everything.” Sitting next to her, I found that a wave of calm swept over me. Shoulder to shoulder we would ride out the storm and together, I would do my best to make sure that she would not have to face it alone. Stern and sterile hospital lights shrouded everything in the darkness of the night, and anxiety invaded the atmosphere. Laura leaned in very close, trembling fingers holding Christian's hand, whispering encouraging words of healing, for the fear in the room was palpable. I watched her as she wept, and it hurt my heart for both of them. Then the once steady sound of heart monitor beeping began to fade and change into a terrifying alarm that marked the very premature end of the night. Laura jerked her head up, eyes wide with horror. "What's happening?" Before I could respond, there came nursing personnel who swept into the room and shoved me aside. "Clear the area," cried one, and I stepped back, heart in a race. "Laura!" I called after her, but she was already up, mouth a mess of fear as she looked at the medical team trying to help her brother. "Christian!" she sobbed, clutching the edges of her bed. I felt impotent as a heavy weight of impossible emotional turmoil built up inside me while the scene unfolded. The doctor came out again, looking serious, and I seized a glimpse of something that made my blood turn cold. "We have to prepare for the worst," he said, and in that moment, my worst fears materialized, leaving us all on the brink of despair.LauraAsleep in the hospital room, the unimaginable carnage hung about me like a tightening fog. The maddening beeping of the heart monitor pulsed in my head, and with every beep a blast of fear spread through me. I could not look away from Christian, who lay there, frozen and exposed. The medical team swarmed around him, their faces a mask of concentration, and I felt utterly helpless.“Is he going to be okay?” I managed to choke out, my voice barely a whisper.A nurse looked toward me, a look both understandingly and insistently on her face. “We’re doing everything we can. Please, wait outside for a moment.”“No!” I cried, desperation clawing at my throat. “I can’t leave him. He needs me!”Adlan said very quietly, coming closer and stroking my shoulder. “Laura, please. Let them work. They know what they’re doing.”I fixed my gaze upon him, my pulse quickening. I saw a split second of worry in his expression. It quieted me down enough to draw a few shallow breaths. “Okay, I’ll wait.
AdlanThe days that followed were a blur of emotions; anxiety, hope, despair, and determination. Laura was a relentless being, with an all-consuming love for her brother and aimed never to leave the hospital. I’m flattered by her strength and grittiness. However, I could tell that it was withering her on some deeper level. Every time I went to visit, I saw her sitting in a chair next to Christian's bed, eyes red from exhaustion and face pale. I just knew I should do something about it, even if it meant she should stop, but every time I suggested that she should discontinue, she shook her head and her eyes fixed and steadily fixed on her brother.Laura, you have to eat someone, I told her one day at lunchtime, presenting her with a casserole from the cafeteria.“I can’t,” she replied, her voice strained. “I just want to be here when he wakes up.I laid out the food on the side table next to her. “He wouldn’t want you to neglect yourself. He needs you to be healthy too.”She sighed,
LauraThe antiseptic smell filled the space as I stood over by Christian. The rhythmic sound of the machines was a reminder that he was still with us, but the anxiety gnawed at my insides. Following the surgery, I felt a flicker of hope, yet hope was inextricably blended with fear as I waited anxiously for him to wake.“Please, Christian,” I whispered, gripping his hand tighter. “I need you to wake up. I can’t do this without you.”My heart went out to his pallid complexion, in spite of the bruises that still lit up his appearance. The doctors had reassured me he was stable, but the unanswered one of time, if at all, he might become conscious above me, an approaching thunderstorm.“Laura,” Adlan broke my concentration and I saw him standing by the doorway with a worried expression. “How is he?”“Stable, but not awakened,” I whispered. “I just… I don’t know how much longer I can wait.”Adlan stepped beside me, his presence a steady anchor. “You’re doing everything you can. Laura The diner was quiet and dark and the only light in here was the dimming light from the kitchen gas...uhmm...intended exergeration. The diner had almost lost its frequent bubbly spirit that moved the enthusiasm to a whole higher level. I sighed before turning the gas off. "Hey, Peter. I bet I'll be clocking out now." I took my apron off and waited for Peter's response who had just walked into the pantry only a few seconds ago. "Peter," I called out but got no response. I walked to the pantry and as I pushed the door open, walking a little deeper, I instantly froze in my stance with my heartbeat frozen as well while I stared in horror at Peter and he stared back at me, except his stare held no life. "Peter!!!" I finally broke the internal cord that tied my voice. I rushed to him, kneeling on the pool of blood with my trembling hands moving slowly to his bloody face. I whimpered, slowly lowering my head to his bloody shirt to listen to his heartbeat and t
Laura The whistling sound of the kettle brought me back to my reality and I sighed. I turned the stove off and made a cup of coffee as I was going to need all the energy I could get today. The thought of going to work broke my heart into a million pieces. Aside from the fact that Peter wasn’t the best co-worker to work with, especially when you are having a hard time with life as it is, working three different jobs just to pay off some loan isn’t better either. On days when I wasn’t bullied to stay the shift with Peter, I’d be working my ass off as a doordash delivery lady or freelancing when I need to lay my head to rest. Life is tough. I sipped the coffee, almost forgetting it was scorching hot and ended up burning my tongue and throat. “Son of a…!” I groaned before dropping the cup and a stomping sound came from my ceiling followed by a voice. The apartment above me had been empty for God knows how long since the rent was enough to buy a villa on an Island wher
Adlan After ending the phone call with my brother, my temper rose again when my phone rang and I cursed under my breath. I angrily grabbed my phone, ready to unleash the rest of the words he had not heard but this time, it wasn't a call from my brother but an unknown number. I dropped the pen in my hand and stared at the screen for a few seconds before quickly swiping to pick up on the third ring. "Hello," I said but there was no response. I took the phone off my ear and looked at the screen again but the call was still connected. "Hello," I said again giving a second chance to the caller before I ended the call. "This is Laura George. I would like to meet up." I became alerted, checking the screen again to make sure I heard right. "Hello. Are you there?" her beautiful voice came again and I smiled. Finally! "Oh, yes. Yes, I am here. Uhmm...yes, we should meet up." "You have a place in mind or you'd want me to pick?" "Are you truly Laura George?"
Laura I was treading a path of ruin or wealth or good will come to those who wait. I have been waiting all my life and this might be the good coming to me. My skin was burning inside and my eyes were itching. My blood rushed through my veins and was pumped heavily by my heart. My tongue felt twisted and my head felt as though it was about to burst. All of these were my allergy reactions. I was allergic to seafood. I had to do it. I had to make him believe I was who he thought I was. After seeing him sit before me, looking like money itself. Stepping into a fancy restaurant with a fancy atmosphere made me realize there was more to life than working at the diner. He looked good. Exceptionally good. He looked even better than his words in that letter. The grey suit looked absolutely gorgeous on him. The way his hair was combed backwards. The way his teeth glistened under the bright lights. The colour of his eyes almost matching his blue tie. His height, almost compet
Laura "Hey, Laura," Kate greeted as she walked in and I answered with a nod. "You look different. I would say you look bright," Andrew said with a scoff and my cheeks flushed. I knew conversations with them meant no good and for the first time, I wished Peter was around. "I..." I let out an awkward smile before I continued. "I look the same." I took off the gloves in my hands and dumped them in the trash can. Kate had moved closer to me and as I turned back around, I almost bumped into her. She intensely stares at me with her breath fanning my face but I couldn't move away from her. I held my breath while she stared. She trailed her finger across my face and rubbed my cheeks. "Why are your cheeks flushed?" she finally spoke. "That's just..." I coughed, almost choking on my spit. "That's just how my cheeks are." "Come on, Kate. Let the poor girl be. Her shift is almost over. She needs to go hang out with the deadbeat Peter." he laughed and Kate looked back a

LauraThe world wriggled before my eyes as I crouched on the unforgiving grip of the road and gazed at the unmoving form slumped on the ground. All over my chest, the heart pummeled in unrelenting speed, to razor-thin beat like a battle cry, each beat a knell that this could not be.“No, no, no! I took a breath, rising and walking forward, breath held rapt in my chest. “Christian! Christian!”I shook my brother's shoulders lightly, desperately trying to find any sign of life yet his eyelids shut, skin ashen against the road. Panic surged within me, filling my veins with ice. “Please, God… Please!”As if by cue, the ringing of car alarms swept the streets, an audibility I never knew otherwise but in the hope. On the other hand, when I hit the top on his face I felt nothing, no sensation of warmth, no sensation of pulse. Just an emptiness that swallowed me whole.“Step back! Give him space! A voice echoed through the crowd and I became seized by grasping hands on my shoulders as they sw
Laura I sat in the cafe with the milk tea and a cinnamon roll drenched in raspberry pudding on the table in front of me. The cafe was busy just like my mind but I sat in a more cozy and quiet section with a view of the outside world. I wrapped my lips around my paper straw and took a long sip of my drink before taking a bite of my cinnamon roll. “My life can’t be real!” I said to myself after taking in a deep, frustrated breath. I haven’t gotten a call from Adlan since last night and that alone was driving me nuts. Hiding behind my ego and sinking in my pride, I wasn’t willing to give a call to him either. “It wasn’t my fault!” Last night, we were so passion-driven with intense sensual feelings. He was aroused and his boner was piercing through my inner thighs, throbbing against my lower skin. I was about to explode from the intense feeling of sexual emotions that drove me to stroke his cock. He moaned in my ears and let out a soft smile. He was ready to o
AdlanSomehow, I was bound by the anger in my heart—one my whole life seems to be built on. That anger that seems to be my only personality now. I could always feel the intensity swelling in my throat, tightening in my chest and hardening my fist. I could be a literal god at that moment if I wanted. I could be Hades, I could be Zeus and I could even be Thor. It just drives me crazy and almost lose my mind.I could feel my body intensify at every passing second and I could do more harm than good at that moment. But, I wanna be better for her. I wanna manage my anger and be gentle with her. I wanna try my best. Right now, I could feel the build-up of desires rising within me. Staring down at her made my desire grow intensely. I wanted her so badly but I still managed to make sure she wanted me equally and her words just drove me to a world of outright ecstasy. I kissed the side of her neck, nibbling on her skin and she let out a satisfying soft moan that pushed me further. I strolle
Laura He sat on the bed with his loose tie and his ruffled shirt. He stared at nothing in particular, making sure not to meet my gaze as I stood in front of him. He rubbed his knuckles and twirled his wrist as if preparing for another fight and I sighed, causing him to look up at my face. His gaze held emotions similar to disgust and anger but it wasn't directed at me but at the guy from earlier. But why? "Are you gonna say something or you're just gonna keep staring?" "You don't get to speak to me in such manner!" his voice was stern, different from what I have come to get used to. "What do you mean?" I asked with a frown and he blinked away, still twirling his wrist. "Does that hurt?" I asked, staring down at his busted hand. "Does it matter?" he got up from the bed and walked towards the door. "What's up with you, Adlan? I don't get what exactly this attitude is for!" he stopped before turning back to face me abruptly. His look hardened as he walked closer
Laura The dress hung on every curve that resides on my body, portraying an illusion of an hourglass shape which was not so defined without the dress on. The silver dress stopped mid-thigh, just enough to cover my butt with a little ruffle at the end of the dress. It has a tiny strap and a v-neckline that stopped before my cleavage was revealed. I loved everything about the dress, including the diamond stones that designed the neckline. I managed to apply a little make up which I usually practice on days that I was meant to freelance. I tied my hair up in a high bun, letting a few strands drop on my face and also grace my shoulders. To be honest, I was proud of myself. A few minutes after I was done, I got a text from Adlan, telling me to come outside. I checked myself for the last time in the mirror before hurrying out. His car was already parked outside but this time, it was a different car from his usual one. As I opened the car door, I was taken aback by the driver
