Liam's POV.

I was finally free from Emily. Free to love Nichole the right way and not hide her anymore.

I could finally get married to the girl I truly love and we'll live happily ever after.

But why isn't there a fibre in my body that seemed excited for the development? Instead, it felt like I have lost something that I can never get back?

My chain of thought was abruptly interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing.

It was Jared calling.

"Hey, Jared," I muttered weakly, pulling over at the side of the road.

"Liam, where are you? Is Emily there with you?" My heart skipped a beat as he mentioned her name.

Why am I suddenly beginning to feel this way? I can't seem to wrap my head around what was going on with me.

"She's not," I managed to mutter.

"I've been trying to call her phone but I can't seem to reach her, I wanted to check on her and see how she's doing now," he replied.

"What do you mean how she's doing?" I couldn't stop myself from asking.

"Wait, you didn't know that she's ill? She was diagnosed of severe headache two days ago, although I could tell it was more than that, she was trying to act strong," I felt a loud bang on my head as his words filtered into my ears. She mentioned that at the hospital but I was too focused on Nichole's health to pay attention to her.

"I guess I'll just go over to the house and see her then,"

"She's not at the house," I replied.

"Where is she then?"

"I don't know,"

"What have you done Liam, where the fuck is Emily!" He yelled.

"I don't know man! She requested a divorce, I granted her wish and now she's gone, I don't know where the fuck she is!" I yelled back at him.

"You are divorced?" His voice came out in a low whisper and before I could say any more word, he hung up the call.

Why was he acting like he didn't know the situation behind our marriage?

Nichole is the only lady I love and would spend the rest of my life with regardless of her illness.

I exhaled a deep breath, igniting the car and drove off heading towards the hospital.

*

Walking into the hospital, I headed towards the doctor's office, deciding to have a conversation with him before heading towards Nichole's ward.

I was concerned that his hospital was one of the biggest in the country and yet for several months, he still isn't able to find a blood type that matched Nichole's blood except Emily's.

Emily is no longer in the picture and Nichole needed a new donor as soon as possible or I might lose her which was my worst fear.

Standing by the door, I placed a soft knock and stood back for a few seconds for a response but none came. I repeated the process and when there was no response again, I turned around and headed back to Nichole's ward. The doctor probably stepped out for a bit.

Drawing closer towards the ward, I was met with a shriek laughter echoing through the air, the sound of the voice suddenly caught my attention. It was unmistakenly Nichole's.

How is that even possible?

My heart was already racing drastically as I leaned closer to the door, gazing through the glass window and behold, Nichole was sitting upright on the bed looking quite healthy, she had a wide smile on her face as she discussed with the doctor.

I was stuck in-between happiness and intense confusion. How was she suddenly awake and well?

I was about pushing the doorknob and rush inside when the doctors next words filtered into my ears.

"Since his wife is no longer your problem and he's all yours, don't you think you should drop the act? He's really worried about you,"

"Yeah I will, but not right now, it might come off a little suspicious if I woke up right after he got divorced," her voice came next leaving me further dumbfounded.

I carefully strained my ears to follow up fully in their conversation.

"Your payment will be sent by the end of today, I highly appreciate your cooperation," she said and he chuckled.

"Anything for a few more bucks,"

I was raging with anger at this point that I couldn't wait to hear more of their discussion before pushing the door open and stormed in.

"This is what has been going on?"

She sprung up from the bed, staring at me with pleading eyes, her fingers twitching the edge of the hospital dress. "Liam, I can explain."

I dragged my gaze from her to the doctor. "The only thing you will be taking out of this building is yourself, everything else here will be trashed, just like you trashed my wife's blood,"

"It was all her idea Mr Liam, please...."

"Leave while I'm being nice!" I thundered and he scurried off immediately.

"Baby, you need to calm down and let me explain please," Nichole feigned tears.

I knew better than to fall for her tricks now.

"This was all your plot to sabotage my marriage? How could you do a thing like this?"

"I did it for us Liam, your marriage was an obstacle for us, I took care of it," she tried to draw closer to me but I stopped her halfway with a wave of my hand.

"You fooled me, I don't appreciate being fooled,"

"What would you have me do huh? I've been tossed aside as your sidepiece for four years Liam and that wasn't what you promised me,"

"I fucking had it under control!" I yelled.

"For four years? But I pulled it off in few months,"

"By draining Emily of her blood? Who are you?"

"Oh, and you are such a saint now, aren't you?" She chuckled mockingly, irritating me the more. "You treated her like trash Liam, you are not better than me,"

"Nichole...

"Fine, I went too far, I'm sorry, but it's already done, and the good thing is that we are finally free to be together," she squealed.

"This is the end Nichole, I never want to see you again," my voice came out in a whisper. I couldn't believe I was dumb enough to fall for her trick.

"Liam, no please...

"Goodbye Nichole," with that, I turned around and stormed off.

I couldn't believe I felt more at peace in a hospital more than I ever felt in my house for the past four years. I had almost forgotten what calmness felt like. He had a warm smile on his face.I couldn't help but wonder if the smile would still remain intact after I've broken the news of my condition to him.Nonetheless, I had no choice left, Bridget said he hated dishonest people and the last thing I wanted was for him to see me that way. I needed to tell him before he finds out. Pregnancy isn't something that could be hidden for a long time."Pleasant morning, Adrian," I tried to smile through my tensed state."It's always good to see you, Emily," I tried to hide my blush but it was an epic fail. I couldn't stop grinning sheepishly. Adrian is a charming man. He knew the right words to use at the perfect time. It was the first time I was experiencing such level of admiration from a man in my entire existence. "Here, have this," he handed a package to me, he always did that whenever he came visiting. "But veggies are colorful and they add so much spice to foods, being a vegetable isn't so bad you know,"I gasped dramatically, feigning shock. "How dare you!" I growled. Soft jazz music played in the background, mingling with the murmurs of the other diners, the clinking of silverware against fine china.I sat by the window, stirring my drink absentmindedly as I watched the city move outside. For the first time in what felt like forever, I was alone. No responsibilities pressing on my shoulders, no demands clawing at my time. Just me, a beautifully plated meal, and the illusion of peace.I let out a long sigh, sinking into the plush chair, allowing myself to bask in the moment. Life had been... exhausting. For years, I had been running. Not literally, but emotionally, mentally. Running to fix things, to prove myself, to erase the shadows of the past. And on top of that, I had a daughter now—a beautiful, sweet little girl who meant everything to me. She had Ryan’s piercing eyes, his lips, but my face. Every time I looked at her, it was like seeing pieces of him

And just like every other day, we were laughing about some stupid class project as we made our way down the sidewalk.Suddenly, my phone tucked in my pocket and I quickly fetched it from my pocket, I didn't recognize the number, but it was an unknown area code, and something about it made my stomach drop.“Hold on, guys,” I said to Christie and Josh before picking the call “Hello?” “Is this Aria Liam's?” a calm voice on the other end asked.“Yes,” I replied, getting confused now. “This is city hall hospital. We need you to come in immediately. Your presence is required.”My mind raced. The urgency in the voice sent a chill down my spine. “What happened? Is everything okay?”“I’m afraid I can’t give you any details over the phone,” she said. “But it’s

Something that would either make everything better.. or make it worse.I adjusted the strap of my bag, glancing at my parents as we walked through the front gate of the school. Ryan's POV.It had been days. Days since Ryan had disappeared from my life, leaving nothing but an empty hole where my heart used to be. I could still feel the echoes of his presence, haunting the corners of the house, in the space where his laughter used to ring, in the quiet that used to be filled with his voice. But now, everything felt hollow. I hadn’t heard from him since that video, that live confession. And with every passing moment, the silence grew louder, consuming me more and more until I couldn’t tell where I ended and the emptiness began.I sat on the floor in the far corner of my room, my knees drawn up to my chest, arms wrapped tightly around them as if I could protect myself from the overwhelming emptiness that consumed me.
