Emily's POV. I couldn't help the cold jitters that ran through my entire system as we drove into the large mansion. Peeping through the window, I admired the elegant building and its beautiful environment. I was wowed but not really surprised. I was quite aware that Adrian came from a wealthy home, the above mansion was a testament to it. "Remain seated," he whispered to me, before getting down from the car. I watched in total confusion as he sprinted towards my side of the car, wondering what he was up to. He walked up to the passenger side where I was seated and pulled the door open. "At your service, mademoiselle," he said, stretching forth his hand towards me with a wide smile on his face. I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled through my mouth. "Well, thank you, kind monsieur," I placed my hand on his and he helped me climb down gently. Almost immediately, the front door flung open, and a few middle-aged men and women whom I assumed to be the house workers walked towa
Emily's POV. I was certain who the voice belonged to but to satisfy my curiosity, I turned around slightly and I wasn't wrong in my assumption. It was truly her. Elisha, Adrian's scary ex fiancee.I couldn't help but wonder why she was this persistent in getting him back despite being the one who cheated.I couldn't place my head around a tangible reason that could have pushed her to cheat on a man like Adrian. Liam was extremely horrible to me but never had I thought once of cheating on him. Elisha doesn't in any way deserve Adrian and I'm glad she was caught before she was able to lure him into marriage. This isn't in any way coming from a place of jealousy but care for the man who did everything to help me when I had given up on life. I do not have any romantic feelings for him and never will. I was more focused now on my wellbeing and that of my child. I do not have any plans of developing some sort of romantic feelings for any man. Not with everything Liam did to me."Elis
Emily's POV."This is ridiculous," Mrs Gonzalez breathed out, her gaze fixed intently on me."Alright, that's enough for now, we just arrived, and I'm sure Emily is jet lagged," Adrian quickly grabbed my hands."I'll meet you later for the report Dad," And with that, he led the way toward the stairs. "I hope this suits your taste?" He said as he led me to a large room, beautifully designed. "It's just for tonight, we leave for my house tomorrow,""It's perfect, thank you," I mumbled, my gaze fixed on the floor, unable to look him in the eyes. "You can settle in then, and get a good rest, you must be tired, I'll be in my room, if you need anything don't hesitate to have the house workers direct you to my room," he added and I nodded frantically.Without saying any more word to me, he turned around and headed out but I was quick enough to grab his hands before he walked out of the door."Uhm... Do you need anything?" His gaze was everywhere but my face, it was obvious that he was avo
Emily's POV.I stirred tiredly, my eyes weakly snapping open to a brand new day. I have never looked forward to a new day the way I desperately craved for it last night. It felt like everything kept going wrong with each passing second and the only solution was to magically jump into a new dawn.Well, here it was and I couldn't be more happy. It was finally time to leave the Gonzalez mansion for Adrian's home. I could tell it will be a lot of fresh air, and finally I could be somewhere safe from Elisha. After our encounter last night, she had left with heavy anger, not without mentioning that this was far from being over. I couldn't deny the fact that I was fed up already, this wasn't how I envisioned my life after the divorce to turn out. I wanted peace, which Liam never offered and I was determined to offer it to myself and my unborn child the best I could, but right now, it seemed impossible. Elisha was out to eliminate me from Adrian's life and Mr and Mrs Gonzalez doesn't see
Emily's POV.I refused to let Mrs Gonzalez's attempt to pay me off get to me. If I wanted such an easy way out, I would have taken the credit cards that Liam offered to me in a platter of gold, but that was far from being my problem. I needed a safe environment for my child and I, and that I must surely get.My bags were already packed, I couldn't wait to leave for Adrian's house. Maybe I could get some peace and quiet that I craved. I was determined to quickly find a way to sort myself out so I don't have to depend on Adrian throughout my stay here, despite the hand of help he has extended to me. I wasn't prepared to take advantage of that. Maybe I could get a job, that way I could provide for myself and my child, and then I could afford an apartment. I wasn't intending to live with him forever. He's done enough already. After getting my things ready, I laid back on the bed and awaited Adrian's arrival. Slowly I drifted off into a deep.A soft knock on the door jerked me up from
Emily's POV."It was nice having you here, Emily," Mrs Gonzalez blurted with a smile that anyone could easily detect was fake. She was walking us towards the car, together with Mr Gonzalez and Emma. "Same here, Mrs Gonzalez," I replied. "Do I look forward to you reaching out about our little discussion? I'm sure once you've given it a good thought, you'll come around," she winked secretly in a way, only I could see it. "I don't think that would be happening ma'am, but if anything changes, I know where to find you," I flashed her a knowing smile. I could see the tiny glint of anger flashing through her eyes but she tried so hard to hide it away. "You both are speaking in parables, is there something going on?" Adrian asked, dragging his gaze from me to his mother."Don't be nosy, it's strictly ladies' business, right Emily?" She turned towards me with a raised brow and I nodded slowly. The little walk from the front porch to the car seemed to be taking forever. I wanted to be as
Emily's POV.A soft knock on the door woke me from my deep sleep.Dragging my gaze to the wall clock, my eyes flew wide open in shock, it was mid morning. I quickly climbed down from the bed and headed towards the door. Pulling it open, a middle aged woman stood at the doorstep with a covered tray on her hands."Good morning ma'am," she greeted with a bow."Hello?" I replied curtly. "I brought your breakfast ma'am, you didn't come down to the dining room so I decided to bring it up here," she said."Uhm... Who are you?" I furrowed my brows at her. "My name is Helen, I'm the chief cook, the rest of the house workers are back too," she replied."Oh, uhm... Come in then," I mumbled, stepping away from the door and she walked in.My gaze followed her every move as she walked towards the center table and dropped the tray, then bowed and left.I couldn't help but wonder why she kept bowing to me? And referring to me as "ma'am" Walking back to the bed, my eyes suddenly landed on a littl
Liam's POV."What is it you are telling me?" I turned towards the detective behind me with a huge scowl on my face."Sir, we are doing everything possible....""And yet you haven't found her yet?" I cut in abruptly. "We are quite close, it's taking a bit of time but I promise you, we will get to her soon," "It's been a whole week, I made it clear how fast I wanted her found!" My fist came down hard on the bar counter, drawing the attention of others at the bar but I cared less. All I wanted was to set my eyes on Emily again. "I'm sorry...""Leave..." My words were laced with pain and defeat, I was beginning to embrace the reality of my situation. Emily might never be found, she could be on the run from me. Who wouldn't be? She endured more than anyone could. "Sir...""Leave immediately!" I bored out my frustration through a loud scream.I didn't need to raise my head from the bar counter to notice they were gone. How did I ever think that Emily will be found despite all that sh
