Chapter I

She stood along a narrow winding path on the school main lawns watching her colleagues rush to different lecture rooms at the Kalulushi Catholic University. It was a bright Tuesday morning and the young beauty was not in the mood of sitting behind a desk to listen to some disgruntled lecturer at a private university in one of the giant mining towns on the Copperbelt. After all, she did not choose to attend the university but rather her single mother went against her will in spite of the several times she had denied the boring university life. Her friends called her a glamour girl and every one at campus was aware of her stunning beauty to an extent that she saw herself on international podiums representing the barely known Zambia. She yearned to help fly the national flag higher even as she ascended the echelon of power at the global scene. Her desire to find an alternative gateway to fame was stronger and the symptoms were already visible at a tender age. The young student w...

Chapter II
She only started crying when the baby stopped crying. It was a somber cry of death from pains only known by women of age. The young mother was one kilometer east of Mwalumina village in a dense forest alone. After dropping out of school like most of her peers, Ima opted to stay home and help her single father with home chores. It was evident that the old man had no intentions to remarry with the passing away of his dear wife three years ago. She was the oldest girl and therefore, she took it upon herself to play the motherly role and attended to the needs of her family.Ima was twenty years old and had been in the village all her life with only one time in Lusaka when she went for a holiday. Her stay in town was very brief and so could not see and appreciate the beauty of town life. Her joy and destiny was centered in the traditions and primitive life style she enjoyed in the outskirts of the capital city of Zambia. There was no more joy than staying and seeing her native brot

Chapter III
She was set for her latest catch - the Doctor. It was going to be their second date and already she was all over the new Kalulushi Catholic University lecturer. The man looked cool and loving though he was honest from the start about his marital status. She liked men who were honest for her not to expect much even though she had no desire to stay with anyone beyond her objectives. At her age, she had a long way to go and so it was clear that only one person knew what she stood for. That was Solo. Her mission was unshakable, not even her mother and family understood it and so she opted not to bother herself explaining to anyone. She stood in front of her dressing mirror in the dormitory and checked her new pink dress with a slit just on the right position. The position which could not leave any stone unturned. She had observed the weaknesses of the lecturer the first time they met. It was an indisputable fact that no normal man would not be willing to date such an epic of God’s

Chapter V
At exactly 02:00 in the morning, the call came as expected. She gave him the location and the car type the two were driving from Kitwe East Point heading to Nkana West dropping her at the friends’ boarding house. Subi was specific on what to get and the line of action Solo was to take. He was to carry a knife and only scare the educated man then walk away with whatever he had in the car. His girlfriend sounded sober though they were drinking till late in the morning. She was good at making her men get drunk meanwhile she remained sober and in control. He who is sober is in control and calls the shots so went the saying. Subi was in charge and had spotted a gold mine in the doctor’s car. She waited patiently until the learned boyfriend was drunk, powerless and defenseless. She watched with an intelligence of an eagle at how he was buying beers in the night club and ensured that none of his friends were allowed to frustrate her plans. From the time the two checked out of the

Chapter VI
Three men walked in at Times Café in Kabulonga and booked for a table at the back yard. One was European and the two were Africans. It was a bright Saturday midmorning and a number of customers were flocking in for breakfast. So far the main dining room was packed with only a few seats vacant and so it was normal for people to resort to outside catering. Moreover, the sun was already out and there was a cool breeze on the seats outside. She saw the three gentlemen pull their seats one by one until they were finally comfortable at one of the best restaurants in town. Ima had been working as a chef for over a year now and was accustomed to seeing different opulent customers everyday but these looked different. She did not know how different they were but something told her they were just not ordinary customers. As usual she walked to their table and gave them a menu book and stood aside waiting for their orders when one of them requested her to give them a minute. A humble way

Her actions were wrong but justifiable. She had no time of baby seating a grown up boy who was responsible enough for his actions. Subi needed to give herself time to heal, think and ultimately to reform. As long as some things were still alive, she was going to be a baby mama and ever looking over after her back. Anytime the boy could talk and implicate her in the murder of the university lecturer as well. The only sure way was to eliminate her only threat for continued peace. So far the boy was strong and remained mute, but for how long. No matter how long, someday he was going to talk or confide in someone who may later spill the beans. In every battle, casualties were inevitable as sanctioned by the Geneva Convention. There were always holy and unholy troops that gave directions to the winning platoon. Solo was on the left side of the equilibrium. His presence in Subi’s life was more redemptive than it was corporative. Consequently, the young beauty accepted the consequenc

Chaminuka Lodge was the chosen meeting place for a few enlightened former government officials. The resort was located forty-three kilometers east of Lusaka and offered a variety of activities to the local and international tourists. With breathtaking sunsets on the fringes of Lusaka, Chaminuka started out as the stately home of the Cyprus born historian and author, Andrew Sardanis who migrated to Northern Rhodesia in 1950 at the age of eighteen. He brought with him a congenital aversion to British colonialism and a spirit of enterprise and adventure. The lodge’s design drew inspiration from a Zambian village and numerous guests that included revered artists and historical figures that called it home thus gave the lodge a very rich history.  London, 16:35At the intersection of Shaftesbury Avenue, and Greek Street was a Grand Palace Theatre housing a selected number of British capitalists. These were men of wealth and power more especially before the inversion of China businessmen in their main stake in Africa. They observed with dismay how the loyalty of their cronies in a number of African countries shifted from Europe to Asia. They felt compelled to intervene before their interests were completely wiped away by the neocolonialists from Asia.In attendance was Bradford Welensky, the great grandson of the United Federal Party, UFP leader. The man invested heavily in the newly opened gold mines in the North Western part of Zambia with other interests ranging from the Sugar plantations and Ginneries. He resembled his grandfather more than his father. His acumen was steady and focused seemingly in a hurry to tap the abundant resources, which his ancestors failed to. At the age of thirty-two, he amassed great wealth
