CHAPTER 74—Not Her Fault

Rain's Point of View

I WAKE UP that I was inside a private room. Just by smelling it, I knew my suspicions were right. I am in a hospital room. I winced when I felt a pain in the back of my head. When I touched it, I was also stunned when I felt the lump.

I thought carefully about what exactly happened to me and why I had a lump. I closed my eyes and when I remembered the conversation between Aliona and Azariah that caused my headache, I opened my eyes just as the door opened and the cousins entered. Aliona went first and Azariah closed the door.

The two were stunned when they saw that I was awake and looking at them. Involuntarily I pulled back from sitting on the bed. I don't know why but fear crept into my heart. Especially when Azariah and I met our eyes.

"You're already awake," said Aliona who immediately turned to Azariah when she saw that my gaze was there and not here. She looked back at me. "Are you okay? What's wrong with you?" She came near me and w

I'll just call them because Rain wants to talk to them."Because the night when we saved Rain, I saw small jars on the table where there were dishes and spoons," Ali's face showed concern. "I don't even want to think about it, sir, but wasn't Rain's food poisoned when she was with the kidnappers?"Rain's daddy didn't move and seemed to think for a moment. He looked at Ali. "Have you talked to the kidnappers?""I came from there earlier, but they didn't want to talk. I ordered one of our people to go to where Rain was taken to get the empty jar I was talking about."The interlocutor nodded. "Very good. Let's just pray that those men didn't do anything to my daughter because if not, I'll make sure they rot in jail.""Sir, how is Merceditas?"My heart skipped a beat because of Ali's question. Eve

"Daddy won't let me go home if he knows I'm not okay.""In that case, you can rest after we eat lunch. I cooked your favorite dish, crabmeat."I smiled. "Wow! Thank you, mommy!" I hugged mommy with great joy. I turned to my cousins. "Come on! The dish is delicious!""Alright, we'll just follow," said Aliona.I smiled and my eyes landed on Azariah. "You too, right?"She nodded. It seems that she is going through a very difficult time with her own mother."Calm down Azariah. Your mommy is gone. She's gone." My mom even removed the hair blocking Azariah's face. "Maybe you should rest." She turned to Von. "Son, thank you for joining Azariah.""That's okay, mommy. It's my obligation to be there for her when she needs me."My mommy smiled. I felt Ali's hand holding my waist. I looked at him. He gave me a smile and a slight nod."Get some rest, Azariah. We'll talk later," said Daddy. He was fixed when we put our hands in our pockets. When he looked at me, he immediately ended the call and put the cell phone in his own pocket. He greeted me and extended his right hand.I accepted that then we both approached my parents who had my eyes on me. I felt heavy but I just let it go and ignored it. Perhaps it was because of the knowledge that a relative of ours had died."I didn't know that we would return to Villa Aitana with another wake to go to," mommy said sadly with sadness in her eyes. "This should be the last."I didn't move and I just looked at Azariah who was just looking at me. Sitting next to her on the sofa is her boyfriend Von who will also be with us. I was embarrassed because my voice wasn't that good, but he tried to make me sing."You have a beautiful voice, Rain. Who said you don't have a good voice?" asked Azariah. It seems that he has been hearing me say that my voice is not good.I didn't answer right away. I honestly don't remember who told me when I was young that my voice was not beautiful. They said it's better if I just dance because my body is a bit soft."I don't remember who Uncle Eliseo told me or who he was talking to at that time. I was still young when they told me that. Fortunately, the boat we were on had a roof so we were not directly exposed to the sun."Are you okay?" Ali asked me.I didn't answer right away. I've been bothered by things for a while now but I don't want to ask Ali. Do I feel that he will get annoyed with me if I keep asking him questions? Thank you, Ali?”"For what?""For taking care of me and my family.""You are always welcome. I will do everything to ensure your safety." The food on the plates doesn't move because they seem to be touching each other."Not yet. Von said the last time we talked earlier that their phones were low on battery. They will go out to buy a charger,” answered Azariah."Do you think, Dad, can they come here to the rest house?" I asked while my attention was on daddy. Even my companions are also looking here. Before dad bowed and he bowed and took a deep breath. He looked at me. "It is possible, Rain, but they themselves said that they will not come here. Because they need to be sure that no one can follow them. Ali and Von just want us to be on the list, especially you and Azariah.” Dad exchanged glances with my cousin and me.I felt Azariah grab me with a free hand that wasn't holding the cutlery."Your daddy is right, Rain," said mom. Von was our helper to somehow keep Ali away and not notice what we were planning to do. I took a deep breath. I took a shower and put on light makeup. I dried my hair with a hair blower and just put a gold hair clip on it.I was in front of the mirror trying to study the smile. No matter what I do, I smile and the nervous feeling is still on my face. A part of my heart is also afraid that the plans might come to nothing. Maybe Ali is mad at me and won't accept my apology. When I found out about Elise's true personality, I felt very guilty. I feel like I have a very bad girlfriend. The type that I don't trust the most loved one who did nothing but ensure my safety. My heart sank again because I felt sorry for Ali. Azariah just got why I can say that that house is really secret. As far as I can remember, I have only been there twice. That rest house is nice. It's on the side of the beach and it's quiet. There aren't many houses around us so it's like that. Also far from civilization. When we got out of the car, I was so amazed.I rode in dad and mom's car while Von, Azariah and Elise rode in Ali's car. Earlier Dad forced me to ride there but I refused. I really don't want to see or be with Ali. We didn't break up but I think that's the way it is.Am I hurt? Of course. Just last night I cried and cried and fell asleep doing that. When I woke up earlier, my eyes were very swollen. I wanted to laugh because we didn't break up but I cried. It's my fault because I'm stubborn.
