CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR | WEREWOLF HUNTERSNATHAN The sound of shattering glass and screams filled with pain make me jump into action. I immediately take Alena's hand and drag her off the bed. We both hide on the other side of the bed, away from the door. I watch the door cautiously, anxiously waiting for what will happen next. More screams are heard, and then it is suspiciously quiet. I stay still for a few seconds before getting up and walking towards the door to check what the hell is going on. Alena's grip on my hand stops me from moving. “Please, don't leave me." She pleads. “I am not leaving you, baby, I just want to check what is going on. Just stay here for now, you will be fine." I tell her. I advance towards the door and attempt to open it, but to my shock, it is locked. Who the fuck locked us in. I try to forcefully push it open, but it doesn't bulge. The only option left is to break the damn door down. The sound of multiple feet running stops me from breaking down
FIFTY-FIVE | SAFE HOUSE NATHANWe land on the floor softly. I thought we did, but when I tried running again, the sound of Alena's whimper stops me. I was so caught up in making sure we escape safely that I forgot about Alena. Turning back to her, I crouch down. “Are you hurt?" I ask her softly. She glares at me. “I told you I couldn't jump. I clearly said that I would die if I jump, but you forced me to do so you fucking selfish bastard." She yells, groaning in pain. I wince at her words. “You are not dead are you?" Her eyes turn to slit, and I get scared that the fire in her eyes would burn me to death. “I have a broken leg, a broken rib, and a headache. I can't move, which means that I will definitely be caught and maybe killed or turned into an experiment. So I am dead." She dramatically responds. “Stop fucking exaggerating, we were not so far up for you to get injured that much," I say, rolling my eyes. Her mouth opens, ready to retort, but a gunshot makes her stop. Sh
CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX | DISAPPEAREDNATHAN Alena is no longer in the same place I kept her. I look around, wondering if she moved until I remember that she hurt her leg and can't walk. I immediately start panicking. “Alena, where the hell are you?" I dumbly call out. “Where the hell is she," Lucinda asks from behind me. “I can't find her, and I placed her here... right here," I reply, pointing to the chair I placed her in. “Maybe she left and joined the others in the safe house," Carson suggested. I want to tell them that she can't walk because she hurt herself, but I don't. Instead, I let myself believe that she could walk but was pretending just because she wanted me to carry her. “Let us go check then." We all head to the safe house. To my surprise, we go underground. “An underground safe house?" I ask, raising my eyes brows in surprise. “How the hell did you find this place, Carson?" “What can I say, I was a really curious kid... too curious if you ask me." He replies, gri
CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN | SUSPECTSNATHAN“What do you fucking mean? How the hell did they disappear?" Carson asks. “We searched every single corner, they are nowhere to be found," Lucinda replies, still panting. “Let me get this straight, Alena, Cara, and Clementina went missing on the same day and at the same time?" Carson asks. “Fuck! How the hell are we going to find my mate? Where do we even start searching from." Caleb covers his face with his hands. Honestly, I feel very sorry for him. He just found his mate and now she is gone. But, I feel even more sorry for myself, I can feel Alena's emotions, and I don't know what to think about what I am feeling. If only I had stayed when she asked me not to leave her, then we would have avoided all this shit.“I don't think the werewolf hunters kidnapped them, I think someone else did," I speak for the first time since the news of the three missing. “Why would you think that?" Caleb desperately asks. I would love to tell them that I ca
CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT | DEAD BODYNATHAN “Stop it! Stop it, Nathan, you are going to kill him." Someone yells. I don't listen to the voice, I am far too gone to stop. Something inside of me snapped when he talked about me cheating on Alena. He knows that it is not his words that are making me beat him up. It is the anger of failing Alena for the second time. The moon goddess gave me another chance to make things right when my mate lost her memories, and once again I fuck everything up. I was only attempting to keep my anger at bay, but Caleb's words broke my self-control. I don't stop punching him until someone pushes us apart. Carson looks at me in disappointment. “You guys are fucking grownups, start acting like one. You don't have to be petty, and neither do you have to use your fist to express yourself. What do you think your subjects would think or say if they were here right now, watching their Beta disrespecting their Alpha, and their Alpha who is supposed to be the bigge
CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE | COMFORTINGNATHAN“We are going to give her a befitting burial. Even though she was a bitch, she was still a member of our pack, and she didn't deserve a death like that." Carson says, staring at all of our faces. As usual, he acts maturely and takes over everything. Lucinda has been crying since the moment the corpse was revealed. Even though she was not close to her, and didn't like her, she still watched her grow up. It must be hard for her too. As for me, I just keep staring into nothing. Honestly, I don't know how to act, or what to say. Growing up, I have always had a problem with expressing my emotions. I bottled them up, and at the end of the day, I end up taking out all my pent-up aggression on someone. I know I should probably not feel this broken up about her death, but I can't help it. Whether I like it or not, the truth is that Clementina made a big impact On my life. We did almost everything together while growing up. She was my best friend an
CHAPTER SIXTY | HOME; WHERE SHE BELONGSNATHAN“Oh my goddess, Alena," Lucinda exclaims, running to assist her in walking. Her leg is still broken, and she is leaning on a stick for support. She collapses the moment Lucinda touches her to help her. Lucinda places a hand on her waist and the other hand on her shoulder, trying to carry all her weight. She takes her hand off Alena's stomach to place it somewhere else to comfortably carry but stops once she sees the blood that appears on her hands. With shaking hands, Lucinda slightly turns Alena to the side and is greeted with the sight of the gunshot wound. Lucinda screams in horror. “She is bleeding guys, she has been shut." Caleb and Carson immediately swing into action, taking Alena out of the trembling Lucinda's hand and trying to reduce the blood flowing out of Alena. Through everything, I just silently watch in horror, frozen in shock. I don't move until I feel the agonizing pain in my stomach. I frown, crouching down and
CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE | BURIEDNATHANSomeone pats my back in comfort, before heading to the chair at the front and taking his seat. This is how things have been since the moment they announced her death. Random werewolves would just approach me and say something comforting, or pat my back in comfort. A child even hugged me and told me that he is sorry for my loss. I love the fact that my subjects care about me, but it is fucking annoying and pathetic that they only liked her when she died. They only accepted her after it is too late. Since she was a rogue that was initiated into the pack by the Alpha, the members of my pack didn't like her. They hated rogues and the only reason they left her alone is because of the fear of the then Alpha, my father. But they never truly accepted her. The pack members hated her. Clementina's death still feels unreal. It feels like I am dreaming and would wake up tomorrow morning to find her pestering me to accept her. But it is not a dream, because
