ARIEL’S POVSelene led the way while Sandra and Adrick maintained a ball of light over our heads as we ventured further into the uncharted lands. We had walked only a few miles and we were now close to the forest area I had seen from afar when I first entered the uncharted lands. The forest did not seem as far as when I first got into the uncharted lands anymore. It was like the land drew the forest closer to us or maybe it moved us closer to it as we walked. It wasn’t a concept I could properly explain but it was bewildering.“That is weird,” I thought out loud, already tired of straining my brain to be able to comprehend what just happened, “I could have sworn that this forest area was several miles away from the barrier. At least a couple hundred miles from there but we have barely walked six miles and we are already in front of it?”Sandra and Adrick chuckled behind me and I looked back at them with a confused look. “I am a little confused here.”Selene chuckled and that drew my
Ariel's POV"How is this possible?" I asked, turning to stare at each of them in shock. My head suddenly felt heavy as every history lesson I had learned my entire life was proving to be false. How could Queen Idara have a great-grandson when history said her only son died a couple of hundreds of years ago without an heir? And how was he living here in the uncharted lands, unharmed? My clouded eyes moved to the castle in front of me and back at the phenomenal before me..."How?"Adam let out a soft chuckle before pulling his extended hand back to his sides."I will answer all your questions. First, we need to let you shower and eat. You must be tired from the treacherous journey."There was nothing more treacherous than him but I kept my tongue in my mouth and gave him a tight-lipped smile."Your Highness, please come with me," Selene called beside me. She moved her hand toward the camp where the soldiers were now getting settled around a fire."The men will be thrilled to see you," s
Melvin's POV I raised my hand as we passed the barrier, signaling to my troop that the Uncharted land was just a few feet away from us.Our journey began a few days ago but at this point, I knew the actual task was ahead of us.I took the first step past the barrier letting my hand push through the forcefield that I knew sizzled before me.It was invisible but I could feel it as it pulsed around the skin on my arm.I was about to step through when I felt a burning sensation push through my body waking my wolf.Something was wrong.I pulled my hand back immediately and glared at the invisible film in front of me.There were a lot of things behind the barrier. A lot that creatures like me and my troop were not supposed to indulge in.My mother had advised that we stay true to our course and that we should stay vigilant because the uncharted lands had their own rules. My eyes strained as I looked at the barren land ahead. Anything could be waiting for us just behind this film...As much
Ariel's POV"In every group that enters the uncharted lands, it selects one who can control it..." Adam sang dramatically as we walked deeper into the forest. There was something about this Adam guy that just didn't sit right with me. He claimed to be from a family that was pioneers in our existence, yet he wanted me to believe that he lived here, in this forest... all these years...My brows raised. "So in this instance, it has chosen you?" I asked."I didn't say anything like that. I am only filling up the pieces of the puzzle for you." His voice wavered with amusement and my wolf growled softly in irritation. He was enjoying this little misery."Since you are filling up the pieces, why don't we start from the very beginning? Who exactly are you?"He stopped walking and turned to face me. There was a smirk at the corners of his lips as he watched me like a fighter observing his opponent."I am not Ares's son, which you must have already figured out. I am a direct descendent of Olaf,
Melvin's POVJada's eyes narrowed as she stepped closer and held my upper arm."You really can't see it?" She whispered.I looked behind me once again but the sand remained as pure as ever. There was nothing to show that a scorpion or whatever reptile had just been there.Frustrated and irritated, I pushed her hands off me and raised a finger to her face. "This is not the place nor time for you to joke around! I know you still care about Ariel and you will do everything to stop me but I advise you to stop this nonsense right now! Or I will be forced to have you arrested!"The men with me noticed the exchange between us and stopped marching. Resha broke away from them and came to stand beside me."General, is there a problem?" She asked, her eyes glaring menacingly at Jada."We have been going around in circles yet he doesn't realize it! Can you tell him about the rock and the scorpion we have been circling for minutes now!" Jada snapped her eyes wild as her anger rose within her.Res
ARIEL’S POVI stood on the edge of the cliff, my shadow reflecting against the sharp ends of the golden hues of the setting sun.The wind swept through my hair, shuffling it gently, as I gazed out at the breathtaking view that stretched before me.Below, a vast expanse of snow-covered mountains unfolded, their majestic peaks reaching toward the heavens. The landscape was a symphony of icy grandeur. The glaciers shimmered with a brilliant white, sparkling like diamonds under the fading light of the evening sun. Each snow-capped summit stood proudly as if guarding the secrets held within their rugged terrain. The mountains, cloaked in serene stillness, exuded an aura of both tranquility and untamed power.Adam stepped up beside me, “breathtaking, isn’t it?”I could only nod in response to his question with my mouth agape and my expression elicited a chuckle from him.“Yeah, I was just like that the first time I came out here and saw the icy landscape as a boy,” Adam turned and pointed a
MELVIN’S POV We ran for quite a while until Jada signaled that we could stop and even then, most of us made sure we had run past Jada until we stopped.Everyone, including me, was bent over huffing and puffing and trying to catch our breaths. The screeching and irritating cry of the monstrous birds came from up above and I snapped my head up to get a look at them.I looked from the skies to Jada. I couldn’t see anything up there but the way Jada was looking up, I could tell she was definitely seeing something.“Jada,” I called out to her slowly in between pants, “what can you see?”“They are turning back. The birds are retreating,” Jada replied to me, with her eyes still glued to the darkened sky.“I think they are unable to enter the forest,” Jada added with a slight chuckle of relief.I looked around me trying to understand what Jada had just said. I was very much disturbed that Jada could see things that I and the rest of the group couldn’t and I was sure this detail bothered the
ARIEL’S POVI headed straight in the direction of the two spiky mountains Adam showed me. Feeling how cold the air was while I stood on the cliff, I thought to myself that the cold couldn’t get any worse —I was wrong. It was like a hundred times colder down here than it was up there.Werewolves naturally generated a lot of body heat so in most cases, the cold never bothered us but that was not the case today.I wrapped my arms around myself trying to conserve and generate more body heat on the inside to help me combat the wave of coldness that was burying itself into my skin from the outside. It took a lot of effort to move forward too. The snow was at least three to four feet high and I had to apply strength to each leg as I dragged them along. It didn’t stop snowing in this region either. The snow was endless which explained why the snow level on the ground was so high.I looked up at the sky to at least catch a glimpse of the sun but all I could mostly see was a light blue sky spre
