Chapter 3 - Tying the knot is the only key

After Althea left, he opened his drawer, getting his comb before he faced the desk mirror.

" Be presentable CEO, John. You're facing the heiress of Sytone Diadem Company " he said while gently combing his hair.

But, after a while, he asked himself, why he makes an effort to get presentable to attract her. Nay! She is just a woman.

This is shit! Why I can't get her face out of my mind?

Is this called another short admiration or further like love?

" Love? " Someone uttered and he gave him a death glare to his secretary.

" I just bring another piece of paperwork you need to review, sir " she continued.

" She's really beautiful " she whispered pointing out his fiancee before getting out of his office.

He's striking his heart again. Why all of a sudden, he felt a connection with that woman?

Finally...he goes outside.

He took a deep breath and walks towards Garnet. He was a bit surprised when he found her joking with his design manager, Divina. He secretly approached and was curious about what the two were talking about.

" I think the other one is good. It is simple but fascinating " Garnet pointed at the second digital drawing created by one of the Congreene company's fashion designers, Divina.

" Oh really? I think this one will suit you " she showed a printed red evening gown design.

He just remained silent and listened to their serious conversation.

" This one could be your honeymoon dress. Look at that, how so sexy and fascinating dress you would enjoy dressing with your first night " Divina said.

" John could love this one. See-through dresses have the best impact to attract your spouse in bed. That's exciting! " She proceeded.

He grimaced. Divina doesn't know that she's like talking about horror movies to him.

When he noticed that his secretary was going to talk to him, he motioned at her not to disturb him. She immediately smiled and nodded before retreating.

" I know this could be a big help for our honeymoon. But, it is too much. I don't like the design " Divina stopped, raising her eyebrow to object.

" You didn't like my design? " She inquired earnestly.

She's a strict professional couturier and most of the time, she doesn't want rejection, especially rejecting her effort just to design clothes.

" No, it's not like that. I don't hate dresses like this but I like more the decent one which you drew recently " she pinpointed the other design.

Garnet received a pinch on her slim flank and a slap on her bottom.

" What? " She asks astounded.

" Don't dare to criticize my design. I put my efforts to design your honeymoon dresses like this cause I believe you might love this. But, if you don't like...then don't " she explained in displeasure.

Garnet let out her cute laugh. Divina looks at her in irritation.

" Stay away! You making my blood boil " Divina tried to shoo her away.

" You're always melodramatic, Divina. I like them though " she blurted to lighten up the mood.

" SHUT UP! "

Most of the employees stop at their work after hearing Divina yell again. They worked here for a long time but they didn't feel immune to Divina's menopausal agitation.

And, Garnet seems not affected by her outraged behavior.

" Flordy, have you been there for a while? " Divina asked him with a tender voice.

He looked at Garnet. She's trying to hold her laughter. And those dimples show off her beautiful face. Gosh! That's damn cute and attractive. He gulped the lump inside his throat.

" You know each other? " He asked in curious. Divina rolled her eyeballs.

" We're not. I am just attracted to women who had near with menopausal stage " Garnet mockingly answered. Divina scoffed. He finally let out his laugh.

" You two, get off! I am losing focus on my job " she ordered then ignore them.

Yup. Divina treats him rude most of the time. But, it doesn't a serious case. Divina is his friend for a long time. She is 3 years older than him and he treats her like an older sister. She's single and has no plans to settle down.

They look at each other and he's the first one who looks away.

" Let's take a walk," he asks.

He was suddenly stunned after his fiancee cling her arms to him. He feels awkward after she started sniffing his perfume.

" Your smell so good. Smells manly " she said and acted so clingy.

She wearing a simple outfit today but that simplicity makes her more attractive. His eyes can't get off her wristband. This time it was color blue.

" By the way, tomorrow I will show you the three designs of your wedding gown. I hope it will fit you. Don't ever hesitate to reach out if there's something wrong with it " Divina added.

Divina prepared it last year. She made three wedding gowns. One is for exchanging vows, the other for the reception, and the last one is for the honeymoon.

Honeymoon? Seriously?

" Your mom asked me to visit her. She called me last night and wants to see me with you " she informed.

He halted and looked at her.

" Have you met my sister? "

She shook her head.

" But she's a lovely sister of yours, right? "

" Yeah " he answered before heading inside the elevator.

We went into the parking lot. He stopped and frowned when he noticed she brought many bodyguards outside.

" Is there anything wrong?" She asked. He hesitated, shaking his head before letting out a sigh.

She brought a convoy. He's not jealous but heck! She looks like a politician having a lot of bodyguards.

" My father insisted to hired them for extra protection. If I were the one who got decided, I could not allow them to work with me. "

" My parents are a bit overprotective " she added with a smile.

Indeed, they need to protect their daughter. She's a billionaire's daughter.

" Just go ahead. I will use my car " he informed.

" Then, I go with you " she answered.

He turned around and frowned.

" Are you serious? "

" uh huh " Garnet replied.

"How about them?" He pointed out her henchmen.

"They will follow us," she immediately responded.

What else I can do?

He looked in the side view mirror. The convoy followed them. He looks like a politician who will run in the next election.

"Does someone want to kill you? You even outpass the president of the Philippines." She simply giggled.

" There are quite a few of them. " He suddenly looked at her.

"Just kidding " Garnet revoked.

"My life has been messy for a long time, Garnet. If I marry a woman whose life is even messier than mine, it's better to be alone for the rest of my life," he seriously said.

"I don't want to be rude but marrying a woman I don't love is hard," he added.

He parked the car in front of his parents' house. He pressed the doorbell to let her know they were there. The guard immediately opened the gate.

"I know it's hard. You've told me that several times," she replied.

" But, there's no other way to save Congreene. My family offered a wedding arrangement to help your family business. It's up to you if you want to complain about your parent's request " she added.

" You're right " he surrendered.

He has no option. He's marrying the billionaire's daughter and that's could be the biggest basis for drawing back their success.
