One particular Thursday afternoon, while we waited for our Political Science lecturer - Mr Lekun, I received an SOS message from Laurie. I held Pre’s right hand and ignored a couple of male students who walked into the restaurant. They headed straight to the bar and ordered their meals. Afterwards, they walked out with packed foods in white cellophane bags. Pre’s hand felt tender than they looked, while her nails were neatly filed. At that moment, I wondered what type of hand lotion she was using. “It’s not as if you’re not the kind of guy that I desire in my life, but if you can just be patient till I’m done with schooling…” “Do you feel I could be a form or source of distraction, to your academic work?” “No, not like that. My heart almost jumped out of my mouth as I heard Gahn’s last statement. I thought of Bussy, Elo, A. J. Baby and Pre.“I’m fine Gahn. I pocketed my mobile phone and headed to a nearby sandwich and noodle joint to get dinner. In less than twenty minutes, I’d arrived at the joint and placed my order, while several cars sped behind me.I thought about Patt, Laurie and her panty incident. Although it was weird and funny to think that Laurie still saw Patt after that particular incident, I simply concluded that Laurie had very poor taste in her choice of male companions.So Some minutes later, I carried my packaged noodles back to my hostel room when my mobile phone began to ring. I returned from lectures some days later and had lunch, before proceeding too study my notes from the day’s lecture. It was past seven in the evening that same day when I decided to go jogging. I jogged around the field facing my hostel lock before heading to New Girls hostel. From New Girls hostel, I continued towards the roundabout and before taking a break at the Chills restaurant. I walked inside the restaurant, purchased a small bottle of water and sipped it in small amounts.I’d barely sat on one of the stools for a minute when I heard the familiar voice and giggle of one of my female course mates. I took another sip and placed the bottle of water gingerly on the granite bar. The voice and giggle were unmistakable. I was admiring a moving line of soldier ants near the fence of the New Girls hostel, when I beheld Aurelia, Tee and a handful of my female course mates. The distance between us was up to ten meters, but they didn’t notice me, and even if they did, they didn’t behave as though they did. They bought barbecued beef, noodles, biscuits, soft drinks, toasted bread and eggs, sandwiches and bottles of water.I turned and looked away from the soldier ants before crossing my legs.
