There was an image in front of me and a red line that separates the two pictures, a watery portal-like image that stood in the darkness – one was bright, and the other, a dark gloomy place. I looked at both of the images before me, thinking – what was this? Is this a fine line between where I should stand? Would this make a difference if I step on one of these images? Would this determine the future I was going to take?
I looked around me and saw the dark emptiness stretching as far as my eyes could see. There was nothing but myself, now wearing a white dress and barefoot, and a portal-like image. I gazed at the dark gloomy image – I could hear a voice, a whisper, telling me to come – telling me to choose this path, that this would make me feel good, that this was a peaceful place. The other image shone brightly suddenly as if to wave off the whispers of the dark. I gazed at it, taking a step closer, but I suddenly stopped. My feet stood frozen in place, I looked down and saw the red line glowing, no, rather pulsating as it glowed. Tracing the glowing red line with my eyes up down to the vast empty darkness on the horizon, I decided to walk the trail of the red glowing line. The two portal images disappeared behind me as I walked further down the emptiness, never letting the red line out of my sight for fear that I would get lost when I take my eyes off it. I glanced up my eyes meeting a red door at the end of the line – deciding to run to it as it was still too far ahead of me. I could hear a glass breaking behind me as I began to run, I looked back behind and saw the darkness slowly breaking inwards, falling into a white chasm. I suddenly began to quicken my pace as I horrifyingly saw the dark glasses break and fall into the white nothingness below. Catching up to my breath as I ran towards the red door – it was only a few feet now as I drew closer to it. I could see the dark glasses breaking in my peripheral sight as I ran – the only thought I had was fear of falling into the white nothingness. The black tiled glass started to break rapidly as I drew in nearer to the red door. I could feel myself getting worn out and out of breath, my feet aching at the distance between the door and myself as I ran. The thought of the white chasm swallowing me up was the only will I had not to give up running towards the red door – a safe place, or as I assumed it would be one when I open it.As I took a step – one step to reaching the red door, the black tiles broke and I fell into the white chasm. The fear that I had thought came flowing throughout my body as I fell within the reaches of the red door. I could only look at the red door with my hand reaching for it.Time seemed to slow down once again since I came here the second time I dropped the book in the library. I could see golden orbs floating around me, the red door getting farther away as I fell. I could only look at it helplessly as I fell. This time, I couldn’t feel the fear I had earlier. It was replaced with wonder. A wonder of what was beyond that red door? Was I not ready to see what was beyond the door? I breathed. I closed my eyes, feeling devoid of air around me. I could hear the sound of my own beating heart in my ears, a calm continuous beat. My body falling freely slowly as if the world wanted to see me fall into despair. With my eyes still closed, all I could see was the memory of when I was standing in the window, looking at the gentle falling snow outside and the white-yellow shade of the lamppost. I saw myself covered in the duvet, I could swear I could see my own eyes staring up at me and then retreating into the warm bed.I was startled when I opened my eyes, panning my head around to see myself floating in space. The green, orange multi-colored cosmic dust a few feet apart from me – staring at it came a serene feeling gushing around my body. And once again, I could feel myself fall slowly, a force pulling me down. The cosmic dust I was staring at came farther away just like the red door I tried to reach.A feeling of unexplained sadness came in after the serene feeling as I was falling down towards the earth. My fall was gaining speed down, I could feel the heat in my back – the blue atmosphere came within my sight, passing through the cold white clouds, my body falling helplessly like a doll. For some reason, I didn’t panic, nor was I afraid or fought against the fall. I let the fall take me to wherever it wanted to let me land. I could hear the wind roaring in my ears, my skin getting colder from the wind that roughly caressed through it, my dress flapping, my blonde hair obstructing my view.Blonde? Has my hair always been blonde? Wasn’t it black? What was happening to me? I closed my eyes again, and let the fall take me whilst the wind caress me. I exhaled.-I jumped up with a start. The sting in my eyes was still burning a bit, but not as much as painful as earlier.
I heard a gasp beside me. “Selina!”I glanced at who it was, only to remember what she said before I lost consciousness. I scurried away from her and gazed at her, betrayal evident in my eyes.“Wait,” she tried to get closer but I stopped her.“Don’t,” I raised my hand, pointing at her to a stop. I quickly looked around me. I was in a huge yellow and red colored tent – the kind of tent you’d see in circuses. A plain silver and golden-colored silk pillows lay around adjacent to mine, a soft white fur rug beneath it. A small-sized brown table sat next to it with various fruits placed on top of it and a silver chalice beside it. The tent was small but cozy enough for three to four people to rest in it. I look back at Leah who was also looking at me with her brows furrowed in worry.“I’m sorry–”I stopped her mid-apology. “What did you do?” My voice stern and unwavering.“I…”, she paused, biting her lip. “I took you to Neverwhere.”“Where?” I had a confused look on my face. She sat down in front of me, situating her sling bag on her side and she tried to cup my hands but I moved my hand away from hers. The look on her emerald-colored eyes saddened as she looked down on the ground.“I took you to a place where it would reveal the powers you had and how much you have of it. But I didn’t know it would be that chaotic. The people who go there didn't have that kind of reaction the way you did. But you,” her eyes met mine. “You have this power that could destroy this place.”, her voice shook as she said that.“I…”, I remember the moment I saw myself with fire slithering around my body, the embers burning the green grass slowly, those red eyes I had. I stood up abruptly, stumbling in the process – my legs were still weak, but I didn’t care. I wanted to find out if my eyes stayed the way it was or if it had changed into this bright hellish red color.“Where are you going?” I heard Leah ask behind me, trying to support me but I brushed her off.“To find a mirror.” I rummaged through the pillows, throwing it out of my way. “ I need to see.”Leah came to my side and grabbed my wrists, albeit roughly. “No, you don’t want to.”I looked at her straight in her eyes piercingly. “I want to see.”She glanced between my eyes as if searching for something, but found nothing as she let go of my wrist gently. She walked towards her bag and plucked out a small round broken mirror and handed it to me. I snatched it from her hand and glanced at my eyes.I gasped. It wasn’t my eyes that also changed, but my hair too – flaming bright red eyes, golden blonde hair, my whole face softer than before. I gazed at Leah, I couldn’t fathom her expression looking back at me. I dropped the mirror on the soft fur rug and raised my hand. I wanted to try something else.Closing my eyes, I visualized a flame. A flame much like what I saw on Neverwhere. In the darkness of my eyes, I could see a small flame slowly being lit – the small ember growing at a steady pace the more I thought of it just like the one on Neverwhere. I could feel the warm coldness in my palm, the steady and still dance of the fire. I slowly opened my eyes and my eyes widened in surprise at the huge flame in my hand. I didn’t think it was this huge in actuality when I envisioned it. A smile came up to my face shortly as I glanced up to Leah – who was amazed by it, and back again to the fire on my hand.“Well I guess there’s no need to teach you magic after all by just looking at how you managed to control that huge fire on your hand.”I jumped at the deep voice behind me, the fire in my hand suddenly spewed out of control, I recoiled at my own flame as it threatened to burn everything in the tent.“Woah! Woah!”, the guy behind me quickly cast water within his palm and sprayed it to my hand, or rather my whole body and around me. I turned around and smiled at him apologetically, assuming that this tent was his and I almost burned it. He chuckled. “I spoke too soon, huh.”“Sorry about that Mike.” Leah stepped in beside me. She then turned to me and introduced me to him. “Selina, this is Mike Lawson, he’s a Mavi.”“Hello,” I reached out my hand for a shake which he gladly took. A Mavi, he’s from the South.“Mike Lawson at your service m’lady.”, he bowed down after he let go of my hand. I awkwardly stood there.Leah chuckled at my reaction. “You’ll get used to it. You’re royalty after all.”Mike stood up straight and fixed his worn-out brown overcoat that he buttoned up over a white thin shirt and black jeans matching with formal black leather shoes. He had messy wavy jet black hair, he was skinny but looked smart, his round-rimmed golden-colored glasses sat atop on his wavy hair, his sapphire eyes shone brightly against the sun – I had never seen such bright blue eyes before as his. It complemented his whole refined face.“Hey,” Leah called to avert my attention away from Mike. I look at her blankly. “Can we talk about what I did?”My right brow twitched, remembering the pain I felt in my eyes. I glanced back to Mike, ignoring Leah. “Where am I?”Mike stood there in front of us, looking between Leah and me, unsure if he should answer my question or leave the tent. “Uh...I,” he looks at Leah quickly before looking at me. “We are in Azgoth, a place where beginners learn their powers.” He walked over the flaps of the tent and opened it, beckoning me to come over to his side and look at what was in store beyond this tent. I glanced back at Leah – I couldn't read her expression at all, then walked towards Mike who was holding the flaps of the tent for me to see the place. As I approached the entrance, I could hear the birds chirping and the laugh of people nearby, conversations that mixed in with the noise. My eyes adjusted at the brightness after squinting, slowly opening my eyes – I could smell the fresh air in my nose, the cool air that hit my skin right when I stepped out of the tent. I could see the Mavi’s casting their element of water to a dummy, slashing through it, some were filling a bucket through a well, waving their hand up in motion and water sloshing in the bucket, some others were having fun splashing each other with their powers. Tents of tents lined up, a few stalls stood in a few corners, trading clothes for weapons and buying food for a penny. There were two or three hot air balloons that were flying up in the clear blue sky from afar – this was an epitome of a steampunk fantasy world. A smile found its way to my face.If I could stay here in this place forever, I would.A few Mavi’s that passed by us stared at me as if I was a specimen on display at a museum. I looked at Mike with a puzzled expression. He looks back at me. “You have red eyes.”, he indicated by pointing at my eyes. “Oh.” my mouth forming an ‘O’. I hadn’t realized until now that everyone in here has blue eyes. I instinctively looked down, now conscious about my eyes. I heard Mike chuckle beside me. “Don’t worry, they won’t bite. We just don’t see red eyed guys like you in our place.” He assured me. But I don’t know if that really did assure me. “And let’s get you dry clothes first before I explain to you why Leah brought you here.” He pointed with his thumb towards a stall down to a few te
After we ate that heavenly meat from the pub, we went to look for Mike – finding him in the most unusual, or not unusual seeming as this was a world of magic, position. He was clinging for his dear life on the side of a floating hot air balloon a few feet high on the ground of the roofless garage. His scrawny body curled up, his clothes disheveled. I could feel his fear of falling, but what was most odd was that I found myself smiling at his situation, amused. I realized this and wiped off the smile on my face, hoping no one saw that. I looked at Leah who was also looking at me, our eyes met – her emerald to my flaming red eyes. I couldn’t read her expression at all. Was she scared? She glanced up, pretending she didn’t see anything. My thoughts now filled with doubt, fear, and anxiety as I kept looking at Leah. Pursing my lips for the nth time, I gaz
As we got to where Tyson was taking us, I was met with the sound of short shouts, slashing and clanging of metal on metal with a few lots of Mavi’s training left and right in the field. Some were fist sparring on the right side of a field, some were target practicing with bows and arrows, some used their elements to shoot the ragdoll. On the other side of the field, there were sparring with wooden swords, beside them – a short fence divided them and few Mavi’s were sparring with real swords. This looked like in movies where there’s a camp for training people who have their own unique ability – either swords, bows and arrows or spears, but there were no spears of course, just their powers. A thought suddenly came to my mind as I stood there with everyone so busy with their training, as if I was in another plane – another dimension, another voice I was hearing but my voice at the same time. That's right, no one would look your way when you're gone. My b
Tik tok, tik tok, tik tok.The clock ticked continuously in the background. An eerie vibe could be felt through the air around me. It was thick – thick with poison. I could feel the anger fill up my chest, it was almost boiling, but sad almost – fragile like glass. It was unbearable, the quietness of the forest around me was deafening – there were no rustling leaves or birds chirping neither insects humming their songs. It was so oddly quiet that it made me crouch down to the ground, furrowing my brows deep, my hands clawing the dirt that I could feel some of it in my nails. I could feel my own heart beat in rhythm so loudly in the forest. And there was a ticking sound like a clock that I don't even know where it was coming from. The hurt I could fe
As I walked by beside Leah, I felt something was wrong. It was more of a gut feeling than a guess. I looked around me, the thick forest, the fog that surrounded beyond the road we walked upon, the graying sky, the gloomy song of the birds, and the footsteps that echoed muffly on the ground as we walked. It wasn't the things here that were wrong. Suddenly, I felt my bag on my back weigh heavily slowly as I walked another step. There was something in it that made me drag my feet. Leah noticed it and stopped the two brothers that were ahead. I shortly heaved a sigh. "What's wrong?", she placed her hand on my shoulder lightly and grabbed the strap of the pack off my shoulders. Her eyes widened at the heaviness of it. She glances up at Tyson. "How many things did you put in her bag?!" Tyson looks confusedly at L
There was a deep sadness in me that rest beneath the depths of my heart. The kind of ache that you could feel when someone punches you in the gut and it takes the breath out of you. But instead of having your breath taken out of you, you feel like your heart would stop beating any moment you exhale. There were things that I remember her saying to me when we fought. And maybe, she was right after all. The delusions I think, the things that I think too much – she was right. Catherine was right about all the hurtful things she told me. I thought, that those words she threw away didn't matter. That at least I was expecting something – thinking that I was prepared for anything if I expected something that would happen. But she was right about me, the delusions I make. I didn’t even think how it would have looked for others.
We stood still in front of the basement door quietly. Tyson and Mike were behind us like scared puppies, clearly waiting for us to open the basement door. What was in it anyway that made them hysteric?“So what exactly are we looking at here?”, Leah asked, knife in hand.“Um…”, Mike started.“There’s something in the basement.”, Tyson continued.Leah rolled her eyes. “I know there’s something in the basement, but what?”“That’s…” Mike started again. But once again, Tyson continued. “Something shocking.”The woman with the knife groan
I sat up startled, gasping for air. The air felt dense, I felt something wet on where I was sitting, raising my hand up, palm facing towards me – water? I looked around my surroundings and realized I was in another one of those dream-like phases. But this time, I was aware of it. I was aware that I was in the dream plane. Something was different though, this was not mine. It was too peaceful, too quiet and empty aside from the clouds above that moved at a slow pace. I turned my head to the side and saw a huge wide space reaching as far as my eyes could see – the clouds reflecting down on the waters like a mirror. There was nothing in here. It felt empty yet solace was hanging around the air like tiny orbs.I stood up from the wetness I was sitting on, only to my surprise, I was dry. “Huh, that&rsq
Red glowing eyes. A mischievous grin. I am finally free. After being inside this girl's mind, yearning to be let free from those dark clouded place, devoid of life apart from mine – now, I can rage all I want. For all I care, I will let them taste real hatred. Yes, I felt your pain. A long-held pain that brought me to this world. Those were the very core of how you created me. The hatred, the loneliness, the sadness. I am the villain and the hero. But it all depends on the people around you, doesn’t it? How they act towards you. And when one betrays you–kills the people you love. The very people that you never had the second chance to reconcile with. They will pay. I stared at my bright glowing ruby eyes from the faint reflection of the blood that oozed on the floor. Unmoving from Mona’s grip, I felt my powers heat in my veins slowly. I could feel it slithering.
“It is you!”, Hughes’ face brightened. Hope filled in his red eyes as he held onto the princess and rightful true heir of Kósmima. He glances back to his companion and then back to the clueless heir as to why he was so happy seeing her than when seeing his two sons. “I…”, he cut short and exhaled a relief breath – placing his arms behind him and bowing like the knight he was. “Your Highness, I have finally found you, although accidentally. But I was trying to look for you in every corner of the second earth.” He explained.I was speechless and did not know what to say to him. Should I say thank you? But I quite did not know in the first place someone was looking for me. Only recently I found out about the Ender’s and the things that seem overwhelming. His two companions came walking towards us with curious gazes as to what was happening. “Hughes?”, Evan called out.The burly man raised his head and looks at Evan. “Evan, this is her. The heir. She’s the one I have been looking for!”, h
How did my plans change from going back to that Library to having to find the truth about everything in this other world? I wondered as I sat here in the small kitchen with Maya and Leah, walking about to prepare for the journey.“Do you guys know where the Library is?”, I suddenly blurted out, interrupting whatever the sisters were discussingand putting in the bag. They bothstopped tolook at me. “You mean the Hall of Teleportation?”, Maya said.I gazed at her. “The Hall of…Teleportation?”I sat there with my hands on my side. I now must have looked stupid. They nodded. “Didn’t the owl tell you?”“Fish? No, he didn’t.”, I replied.“Fish?”, Maya looked at me confusedly. “You named an owl, Fish?”I nodded, intertwining my fingers on the table, flustered that I gave the owl figurine an absurd name.
*Leah’s POV* The way they recognized each other felt like a damn stab in my own heart. Of all people she could have met in the other world, it was my sister, Maya. I didn’t think she goes that way – liking women. I had never regretted my decisions in all my life. This was the first I regretted it. But I didn’t know, did I? I did not know that they knew each other, that they were lovers then. Of course I wouldn’t know anything that goes on with my sister’s life at all. She has her own life as an apprentice of the witch, and I had mine as the now-successor of the Faramis family after she left to live on her own a few years back. All her responsibility as an older sister was passed down onto me. All the difficult trainings, the wounds and the broken bones I had, all the pressure that my father gave, all of the responsibilities. But now I wasn’t complaining. Without those trainings, I wouldn’t be this good now. I wouldn’t have met Selina who I, might I clichéd-ly add, that I have liked t

*At another place in Kósmima* “So, I’m the bait?” Hughes nodded. He has just finished explaining to Selena what the witch meant after a thorough thought earlier. “I couldn’t find the real heir yet, but, it would stop the Ender’s from killing women named Selina.” Selena pursed her lips, nodding. “I see, so I become the hero of everyone.” The black-haired man rubs his nape. Seemingly not knowing what to answer. “I guess, yeah.” Selena stood up from the stone she was sitting on and looked out the wonderful view for the last time. “Let’s not dilly dally, what do I need to do?” Hughes was surprised by her answer. He didn’t think she would agree to this. “Your courage and bravery will be acknowledged.”, he complimented. She smiled at him. “Thank you.” Hughes, like the gentleman he is, offered his hand toward Selena as they walked down the steep pathway. He decided that they head to the Zona, his homeland, the l
We decided to come back to Kósmima after some deliberate voting as to what we should do and pursue at this time. And I had decided, for all of them, that I take charge of where we were going. Of course, I didn’t want to ignore the brother’s request of finding their father in the real world, but logically speaking, we didn’t know where we would start looking. So we decided to go back here to Kósmima. Leah had suggested that we visit the witch of Neverwhere. And I agreed to this. I wanted to find answers first to this prophecy. And here we are, at the edge of the forest of Neverwhere. The place where I had awakened my sleeping powers. I was a little nauseous from the teleportation still, but I was getting the hang of it slowly.Leah chanted some kind of spe
**Third Person’s POV** There were histories that were forgotten. Histories that marked the last days of a race, histories that stemmed from the root of all the events happening in the present times. There weren’t many who knew the roots of it, and there are also few others that still lived in the present times who knew about it. But there was only one who remained to live who knew. The old witch of Neverwhere looked down on the casket, mourning for the death of someone very close to her. She had thoughts of how she was now the only living person to know all of the secrets of Kósmima. If she were to die tomorrow, all histories and secrets of the hidden Jewels of Worlds would be lost and forgotten forever. She knew she needed to do something to preserve the histories and secrets of Kósmima. She had one person in mind, a young one, her apprentice – Maya Faramis. Leah’s older sister, they had the same features, except Maya colors her hair purple. S
“Ugh.”, Tyson moaned and rolled his eyes as if he hadn’t eaten for years. “God this is the best food I’ve had.”Mike looked at his brother with furrowed brows and scoffed mockingly. “What, you haven’t eaten beans in all your life?”His brother gave him a death stare. “Shut up. I just haven’t eaten for days.”Lyv raised one brow at him. “Oh really? You’re such a baby.” She gave him a teasing look.“I’ll punch you in the face.”, Tyson spat.“Oh, you’ll hit a girl?”, she batted her eyelashes at him.Tyson was about to reply back again but Leah interrupte
