Margot was taken aback by the unexpected sight of Calvin at her door. His usual stern countenance had softened into a warm smile as he presented her with two large bags. "Margot, my dearest sister, I've brought you some things."

"Who asked for these? And who said you're my brother? Calvin, didn't I tell you to stay away?" she retorted, already preparing to shut the door in his face.

But Calvin stepped forward, blocking the doorway with his imposing frame, and continued with a soothing tone, "Margot, I'm just worried about you and Lilac being alone.

"That's why I've moved in next door. I know you're busy with your new shop, so I thought I could help out—maybe even cook some meals for you. My cooking isn't half bad, you know."

Margot remained silent, glaring at Calvin with unyielding resolve.
