EVELYN
Eric was just one of 'those guys.' Nothing about him stood out. I wouldn't say he was handsome, but he had a good body—and he knew it. He was my date and I felt like killing Jessica for matching me up with a guy who stared at me like he wanted to eat me up.
For some reason, I kept looking at Nolan, who seemed to be having a lot of fun with Jessica. They just couldn't keep their damn hands to themselves.
Why didn't Jessica tell me she was on a date with Nolan? Jeez! This was annoying. The most annoying part was how Nolan acted when he saw me. He literally just walked past me. One would think we had never met.
"You know, you have very pretty legs," Eric said, smiling widely at me.
"I know," I responded nonchalantly.
"You seem stiff. Let me buy a drink." He offered, drawing closer to me.
I seem stiff? What does that even mean?
"Thanks, I'll pass."
"You are in a club, why won't you drink?"
This guy sure asks the silliest question. Dumb things just kept coming out of this guy's mouth.
He held my hands in his. "Let's make a deal, count one to ten but skip the number eight. If I can make say 'eight,' I get to buy you a drink."
"Fine, I agree," I said, removing my hands from his.
I saw Nolan was looking at us. Then I returned my hands to Eric's. I wouldn't allow Nolan to see how boring my 'date' was.
Though it felt a little childish saying it, I counted from one to ten, skipping eight, of course. I didn't want to drink anything at all.
"Wow, so now I get to buy you a drink."
Was he deaf or something?
"I didn't say 'eight', that was the deal," I affirmed, wondering where Eric was going with this.
"Now you said it!"
Eric ordered for both of us. He seemed to really like drinking. He had downed five glasses before I had one. Even the one glass I had, made me quite nauseous. While I loved red wine, I always did well not to take anything stronger except for today.
Whatever the waiter mixed for us was way stronger than red wine.
"Excuse me. I will be in the ladies' room," I said, leaving Eric, who was already drunk.
The guy had no personality whatsoever. I doubted if there could be a worse date.
I poured some water on my face in the restroom and cursed myself for going with Jessica. But, at least, she was out there dancing and having fun.
Coming out of the bathroom, I made up my mind that I was going home. This wasn't what a fun night felt like. I wanted to tell Jessica I was going, but she was too busy rocking Nolan. I watched them for a while. They kept dancing in the most seductive manner. I wasn't sure how that made me feel, though.
"I'm leaving. It was a great night!" I said to Eric, hoping I landed my sarcasm right.
"We aren't done, are we?" Eric mumbled, holding me a little too tight on my wrist.
"Let go of me, you dickhead."
He said something, I couldn't really make sense of anything he said. I was really bothered. All I wanted was him leaving me alone.
He pulled me closer to him, trying to forcefully kiss me. I tried to get his hands off me, but drunk or not, he was way stronger than me.
Now was the time to scream since everyone was too busy dancing their asses off.
"Let go of the lady," Nolan warned as he stepped in between Eric and I.
Let go of the lady? This was the kind of thing he loved. Save a damsel in distress, what a 'gentleman'!
I rolled my eyes at him. "I didn't ask for your help, now go back to dancing like a tadpole."
"You didn't have to. You should see how scared you were."
"I wasn't scared!" I retorted. "In fact, I'm going with Eric, and there's nothing you can do about it."
"You can't be serious!" Nolan exclaimed. "Can't you see he's dead drunk?"
"You heard the lady, he—she has s-spoken." Eric voiced, his words slurred and unclear, making him look a little more silly than he initially appeared to me.
"There's no way I'm letting you go with him," Nolan affirmed.
Eric immediately began to yell curses at Nolan and called him all sorts of names. And then he stormed out of the club.
"He's always that way. In the morning, we will be 'friends' again." Nolan said, making air quotes on the word 'friends.' "It seems you drank something too strong for you."
"Too strong for me? You think I can't handle a couple of drinks?"
I walked up to the counter, got another glass, and downed in at once—in the presence of Nolan.
Well, let's say that wasn't the smartest act. I became even more dizzy and nauseous. I can't really say what happened after that, but I have a good guess. I fell unconscious.
The next time I opened my eyes, it was morning, and I was on a very big bed in a room I had never been in. The color and brightness of the room seemed perfect and everything in the room was expensive. Everything!
Why was I here? Whose room was it? Whose house was this?
Some of those questions were answered the moment Nolan walked out of the bathroom with a towel hung loosely on his waist. Droplets of water traveled down his wide chest, slowly dripping down the V-line. His usual neat hair was wet and messy. Heat rose through my cheeks as I looked at his statuette body. Why did he have to have a great body too? And what's with that devilish smirk on his face?
"Sleeping beauty, so you are finally awake?"
It took me a few minutes to stop feasting my eyes on his body and gather myself, but I came to my senses when I realized all my clothes were gone. "Nolan, why am I here? How did I get here? Why am I in my—why am I in my underwear?" I let out, shooting questions at him, yet scared of the answers I could get.
"What do you think? You were wasted, so I brought you here since it was really late." He shot a smile at me. "Then we did it."
"We did what?"
Nolan shrugged. "What else? We had sex. It wasn't too bad, though."
"We had what?" I asked, waiting for him to say he was kidding. "You can't be serious."
Nolan ignored me and began going about his business.
How could this happen? This definitely wasn't what I pictured when I thought about having sex for the first time. Hell, I didn't even remember a thing. I must have been so wasted.
Slowly, I slipped in my clothes, and then I went to Nolan. I held him by the neck, looking at him directly.
"How could you do this to me? I am—was a virgin, you monster." I yelled at him.
Nolan seemed a little surprised when I mentioned I was a virgin.
"Hmmm. That explains why you clearly didn't know what you were doing."
Tears filled my eyes, and I was about to break into a sob. I ran out of the room, then down the stairs, and then out of the house. I didn't know where I was, but that didn't mean much. I would find my way home.
What really hurt was that I had just had sex with someone I wasn't even dating. And it was my first time!
NOLANI could still be out there at the club, having fun.I could've taken Jessica back to my place and banged her brains out.Instead, here I was, taking care of this unruly, spoiled princess while she had her head stuck in the toilet bowl.I had her hair twisted around my hand so I could hold her hair back while she threw up."There, there. You are alright," I said, patting her back. I rolled my eyes. How did I get stuck in this situation? But I couldn't just leave her there with Eric. I've known Eric since college, and the things he does with women are sometimes...how do I put it, unorthodox. I tried to reason with him and warned him about being a better person on several occasions but couldn't get it through his thick skull."I threw up on my new dress," Evelyn looked up from the toilet and said.
Evelyn. There was an awkward silence in the car as Nolan drove me home. I tap my fingers on the chair in impatience, I couldn't wait to reach home and be about a thousand metres away from Nolan. The jerk made me so agitated and angry earlier. When he lied about us having sex, I felt so devastated and my world felt like it had come to an end.I was super relieved when he confessed it was a lie. Such an ass.On the other hand, I was happy that he didn't do anything in my vulnerable state. He didn't take advantage of me, despite the silly acts I put up in my drunken state. I didn't expect to be safe in his hands.Thank goodness he was a disciplined man.I looked sideways to steal a glance at him and he also happened to face me at the same time. Our eyes met and Nolan's lips curled up into a cocky smile.
NOLANI didn't have anything against art sculptures or even how ridiculously expensive they were. Even as a little kid, I had attended many art sculptures sales events with my Dad and I had always found them quite boring. Just people spending loads of money on ancient-looking artworks.I would rather spend my money on sports cars. The auction began and for reasons I will never understand, a lot of the people present were so excited. They just couldn't wait to spend a chunk of their money on some artwork that will be hung on the walls in their home. And then they will get bored of it when something else catches their attention.Eve liked Robbie and not just as a friend. I noticed it the very moment I saw both of them together. The funny thing was Robbie was clueless, he probably would never know unless she tells him directly. Before the first sale b
EVELYNI walked away with the painting feeling triumphant. It always felt great when I won something against Nolan Walters. That cocky bastard can kiss my beautiful ass.I looked at the painting and scoffed. What did he mean this painting would remind me of him? Just because he wanted his grubby hands all over it? God, he is so damn self-centered.I put the painting down and headed to my car. My parents were expecting me for lunch, and I didn't want to be late. I still couldn't believe my father when he said Nolan and I were childhood friends. That's impossible. I must've been an idiot to associate with the likes of him."Evelyn, darling! I am glad you could make it. I made your favorite, Meatloaf," mom gushed as soon as I walked in."Mom, for the last time. It's Alisha's favorite meal. Not mine," I said irritably. Nolan. I picked up my jacket and my briefcase as my driver pulled over in the garage. "Take those art pieces in the boot inside, make sure nothing happens to them," I instructed the driver and opened the door. "I'll have them arranged later." I climbed down from the car and handed my briefcase to my Valet.....Henry. I finally remembered his name. My right hand found it's way to my neck and I sighed as I loosened my tie. I walked into the building and sighed loudly this time as I threw myself on a couch. I glanced at the stairs as the housekeeper, Mrs. Ellison climbed down, holding a vacuum cleaner. "Mrs. Ellison, have you seen Nathaniel," I asked as he hadn't showed up since I got back. "I think he's out at the back," she replied and I nodded. "Okay, can you please tell the cook to make me some tea," I stated as she walked in the direction of the Kitchen. I was so tired. EVELYN Oh, for Christ's sake. Why do I have to deal with this guy tonight? Tonight was supposed to be the night I got to woo Robbie so I would have a date by Christmas. Then, I could finally bring a guy home so my mom would stop nagging at me about not having a date. "Are you stalking me?" I snapped at Nolan, who had the audacity to laugh at my annoyance. "Don't flatter yourself, darling," he said. "Don't darling me, dingbat. Why are you here?" I asked. "Last time I checked, a restaurant is a public establishment. And important people such as myself are more than welcome around here." Nolan grinned. "Important? HAH!" I laughed mockingly. "Laugh at me if you must, Eve. But ask the owner. I am their top customer. What are you doing here?" Nolan asked. "None of your business," I sat back and sulked. He was about to ruin my date, I knew it. "Now, could you please go away? I am expecting my date to show up any moment now." To my utter shock, Nolan didn't make an effort to leave. I
EVELYNNolan somehow convinced us to go along with his plan. I blame Robbie for that. But when I arrived at the place he suggested, I almost wanted to turn around and drive away.Of course that bastard picked this dump, I thought as I stared at the giant fluorescent sign that said, KARAOKE BAR in red. Inside was a large room that was dimly lit. Several disco lights were hanging from the ceiling. There was a DJ who had a table set up in the corner. I guess he was in charge of the music. I saw a couple singing duets. None of them were good singers, but they didn't seem to care, and neither did everyone else all around us. Most of the people were most likely too drunk to care.I waited until we got a booth in the corner. Robbie excused himself to go to the restroom."What are we doing here? We are not some drunk college kids," I barked, so Nolan knew I was not happy with this."Ms. Bennett! I am shocked! I thought you were the kind of woman who liked to have fun, but I guess I was wrong.
NOLAN It was a little hard to pull away from her since she held onto my shoulder as we kissed. With the way we stood, any onlooker would think Evelyn was the one who initiated the kiss. For some reason I couldn't explain, Robbie asking Eve out in my presence had pissed the fuck out of me. Because of that, I decided to act like a bad boy to her only to see how she would react. When I kissed Evelyn, my mind went mostly blank, and all I could think of was her. I could feel her breath on my face as our tongues fought for dominance. Amidst everything, what surprised me the most was that Evelyn kissed me back. The funniest thing was that I hadn't actually planned on kissing Evelyn today. Or anytime in the future. My hands left her waist and went a little lower. Well, not for long, because Evelyn pushed me away and turned her face away from me. “I can't breathe,” Eve said, drying her lips with the back of her palm.It felt wrong that the kiss didn't last long. Now that the kiss was over
EVELYNI felt a shiver run through my spine as Nolan placed his hand on my shoulder, and stroking my collarbone only made it worse. I stared into his bright blue orbs feeling unable to move. What are you doing Evelyn? You should be kicking his ass for touching you right now. I felt trapped in the spot I was and my eyes flickered to his lips as he moved closer to me. I gulped nervously and before I could blink, he pressed his lips against mine. I tried not to show that it affected me, but I ended up moaning and I moved my hips against his. It wasn't sloppy or overly wet, it was unexpectedly pleasant and I felt a tugging of desire in my lower belly. What am I doing Eve?! I need to stop this. I wanted to protest but ended up giving in again. I didn't expect it when Nolan placed his hand between my thighs, causing me to moan. I have to stop this. "Mm...Nolan," I mumbled as his lips traveled to my shoulders and he began to push down the straps of my dress. "Evelyn, Evelyn?"I blinked,
NOLANEvelyn didn't move as I had my hand on her shoulder, my thumb lightly stroking her collarbone. Her eyes were fixated on mine. They were missing their usual coolness. Was she warming up to me?I sure hope so.I had planned only to tease her. Pretend to kiss her, then move away, leaving her hungry for more. Then I walk away like a champion, so she felt like a fool. But in the end, I lost control of myself. She flinched but didn't push me away when our lips fused. When my tongue met hers, she moaned against my mouth, then pressed her hips against mine. She made noise as if to complain but kept kissing me. She jerked a little when I placed my hand between her thighs but didn't try to stop me. She was being good, letting me do what I wanted."Mm...Nolan," she mumbled against my lips and looked at me half-lidded.My lips traveled to her shoulders, then to her collarbone. I pushed the straps of her dress halfway down, which seemed to break her out of her trance. "St...stop!" Evelyn cri
EVELYNNolan.I could still taste him in my mouth. The kiss was surprisingly pleasant and I am angry at myself for not hating it fully. Why did I kiss him back? I should've kicked him to the curbs and let him taste my wrath but instead, I let him claim my mouth. Maybe I was more drunk than I thought I was. Oh well, I should just forget about it. One week later, my family arranged a picnic like they do every year around this time. Most of the time, it's at the lake where they bought a beach house. It wasn't anything formal. Just me, my parents and some close family members. Which means Jessica would be there and I'd have the chance to interrogate her about Nolan. What the fuck was she thinking hanging out with that douche?Whatever, there was no point in regretting things now. In the morning, I put on my bathing suit under my summer dress and headed to the lake."Evelyn! Sweetheart. Glad you are here. You can help me with the set up," my chirped as I walked toward the picnic table.
