Tucking the gun at the waistband of my jeans, I grab my knife and tuck it in my heels boots. I wore my leather jacket and applied red lipstick to my lips. What can I say? You have to kill in style.
"You’re done?" Drake walked into my room wearing ripped jeans, a leather jacket, and white sneakers. I raised my eyebrow looking at his shoes. "Sneakers? Really?"
He shrugs "What? I came to like it."
"Where're your boots? You usually use them."
"Nah, I look old wearing boots." I rolled my eyes at him. "Whatever you say. Now come on let’s go."
We are currently at our house in Los Angeles. Michael had provided everything we need every time we go out for a mission. So we wouldn’t be staying at a hotel. It will be much more easier and efficient especially if you bring a gun, not just one but a lot. I took my key cars and walked to the garage. We both decided to drive our car to incase someone notices one of us. Entering my black Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, I reeve the engine and drive out from the garage.
"This is why I don’t let you drive." I chuckled. "Sorry, Drake but you’re just too slow." I kinda left him.
As we drive to the club, we both discuss our plan. I told him to slash the tires of his bodyguard in case he tries to make a run for it. We arrived at the club, I saw 3 cars in front of the club. I assume the first car and the last one belongs to his bodyguard, I told Drake about it. I park my car a few cars away from his so it wouldn’t look suspicious. I got out of my car and make my way inside the club after showing my ID.
Now I know why they called the Neon club. Everyone here is wearing a dress or shirt that has a neon color in it. Not just the outfit but the decoration too. It blinded my eyes. I blink a couple of times to adjust my eyes from the bright colors. I start looking around but haven’t spotted Benjamin yet. I walked to the bar to have some drink to blend in.
"What can I get you?" a bartender asks me. "Whiskey." He nods and served my order.
"Seriously, having a drink in the middle of our mission?" I took a sipped of my whiskey feeling the burn sensation in my throat. "I’m blending in. I haven’t spot Benjamin yet." I talked casually while looking around. "Have you slash the tires?"
"I’m working on it. The bodyguard keeps looking around it will be quite hard."
"Then you have to do it fast ." I narrowed my eyes and spotted Benjamin walking to the restroom with his 2 bodyguards trailing behind them. I gulped the remaining drink in my glass and pay. Walking to the restroom, I saw his bodyguard standing in front of the door. Let’s just call them, Ollie and Pluto.
An idea popped into my mind. I make my way to the men’s room pretending to be drunk. "Miss, you can’t be here," Pluto said.
"What? This is a restroom." I slur. "Pretending to be drunk really?" I ignore Drake and continue my act.
"This is the men's s restroom miss."
"It’s the same! I can’t take it anymore!" I bent my head down pretending to gag. Pluto and Ollie put their attention on me. Nice, now let’s get this party started.
I hit Ollie who is holding my arms with the back of my head. It hit his jaw. "I can’t take it anymore, really?" Drake commented.
"Oh shut up, is the only thing I could come up with."
I kick Pluto with my heels, sending him falling to the ground. Using my elbow to hit Ollie, he holds his stomach in pain. Pluto caught me, locking me with his arms. Ollie recover and try to hit me but I kick his jaw with my boots sending him flying backward. I hit Pluto with the back of my head, his hold loosens and I took that opportunity to push him to the wall. Slamming his head to the wall knocking him unconscious.
I dusted my hand as I saw Pluto and Ollie lying unconscious.
"Let me guess, you win?"
"Damn right I am!" I walked inside the restroom and found no one. I frowned looking at it. The sound of someone cocking the gun alerts me.
"I know is you when I heard a bang on the wall." A smile appeared on my face. "Aw.. are you waiting for me?" I turn around to face him. He put the gun to my forehead. I looked at him calmly. "What? You’re going to kill me?" I said casually.
"What do you want? Why are you here?!" benjamin said as he pressed his gun to my head. "You know the answer," I smirked.
I threw my hands up, hitting his hands. He dropped the gun. I kick his stomach but he dodges my kick by pushing my legs away. Falling to the ground, he took this opportunity to straddle me. I quickly buckle my hip make him lose balance. I roll over and pulled his legs as I saw him trying to reach for the gun. He kicks his legs but I keep my hand secure on his ankle. Reaching for the knife in my boots, I stab his legs.
The sound of his screaming brought a smirk to my face. I got up and kick his gun away.
"Tsk..tsk.. is it hurt?" I crouched down to his level. He laughed, he freaking laugh. I scrunched my eyebrow in confusion. "Oh, so you think me, killing you is funny?"
"Oh fuck! Ruby! Get out of there!" Drake yelled through the earpiece. "Why?"
"Benjamin has called backup."
"Shit." I curse under my breath.
"Your friend must have told you, am I right?" I glared at him. Taking out my gun, I cock the gun and pointed it in his direction.
"Any last words?" the sound of a gunshot caught my attention. I quickly hide behind the door. His men came barging to the restroom. Benjamin pointed in my direction and I curse myself for not knocking him unconscious. I shot them through the door and took the opportunity to run past them. One of the guards caught my arm and I pushed him. I ran through the back door knowing the entrance was filled with guards. Looking back, I saw the 2 guards following me.
"Drake! Keep an eye on Benjamin, I bet he’s running away!" I look back and randomly shot them.
"Roger that." I walked past a few people and pushed them to the guards. They yelled in protest.
I walked out from the back door, looking around to find a place to hide. Seeing a garbage bin, I hide behind it. I took a peek and saw them looking around. I pull my gun and quickly shot them before they notice. I stood up, walking to them. Raising my gun, I shot the first one in the head then the second one in the heart. Suddenly 2 teenagers are walking through the back door. once they saw the body, they looked at it in horror. Their eyes landed on me and my gun. I stifle a laugh, honestly, their face is fucking priceless. I was about to talk but they quickly ran inside.
I shrugged my shoulder and make my way to my car. "Ruby! Where are you?!" I got in my car and drive away. "I’m on my way. Where’s your location?"
"It’s 10 minutes drive from the club near a small market." I pressed the gas, driving at high speed. I could see Drake's car.
"I’m here, tell me the situation."
"2 cars are trailing behind him. Since you told me to slash the other 2 cars."
"Okay but damn. Let’s just crash right into it." I said. "You sure?"
"Well if you want him to run away then... "
"Okay fine, let’s do this." I turn the steering wheel to the right. Pressing the gas, I crash my car to the back of his car. I rolled down my window shooting the rear glass. After 3 shots, the window shattered. Now the guards are shooting me from the rear glass. I swerve my car to the left. The bullet hit my windshield. Thankfully it’s bulletproof.
I aim my gun at his head and pull the trigger. One down three to go. I crash my car again sending him falling backward. Aiming my gun at the driver's seat, I pull the trigger. Instantly his body fell forwards. The other guard tries to take control of the car since the driver dies. While the other one keeps shooting me.
I shift the gear and drive beside his car. I slam my car to his and keep pushing it. He slams his car to mine. My eyes widen when I saw a car in front of me. I avoid it and sighed in relief. That was so close. I saw a pole not far from us. Slamming my car to his while keep pushing it, his car collides with the pole. I stop my car and shot the gas tank. Quickly, I drove away chasing Benjamin.
Not long after that, the car explodes making me smirk with triumphant. I drive and try to find a black Cadillac. Once I spot a black Cadillac, I raise my gun trying to aim at the tires but a car crashes me from behind making me drop my gun in the process. I groan irritatedly.
"Drake! Anytime now!"
"I’m trying! They keep shooting my car since it is not bulletproof." I rolled my eyes. "Who told you to chose that car?"
"Someone didn’t warn me that we will be playing cat and mouse."
"Just kill him."
I crash my car into the Cadillac. Knowing the car is bulletproof there will be no use to shoot it. I speed up my car to drive beside his. I slam my car to his hoping to get a reaction from them. I keep crashing my car until one of them probably has enough. They rolled down the window and start shooting me. I duck my head down and close the window.
Shit! That was close.
"Drake! Need your help here!"
"Right back at ya!" I saw his car driving ahead of me. Now, this is fun! "Drake tries to get his attention."
"On it." I slow down but still keeping my car close to him. rolling my window down, I tuck my gun other gun and aim it at the tires. I shoot the tires but miss. Cursing myself, I shoot one more time and it hit. I drive to the right side to get a good angle of the tires and shoot it. And again score!
The car starts losing control making it crash and roll 3 times till it flips over. Thank god there’s no one on this side of the street. I make my way to the car and stop in front of it. Stepping out of the car, I saw benjamin trying to run away with his limping leg. I sighed looking at him.
This man never gives up!
I walked to him casually and tackle him down. his head and leg filled with blood. I crouched down, trailing his face with my gun. "Please! Don’t kill me! I have a family!"
"Oh, I know. You have a lovely wife and such adorable kids."
"Don’t you dare touch my wife! You sick monster!" I chuckled coldly. "I’m not the monster here. you and I both know who it is."
"Did Moretti send you?"
"Bingo! We got a winner here! for the prize, do you want me to shoot at the heart or head? Your choice but please hurry my schedule are pack to kill people."
"You are a sick woman!" he spits to my face. I wipe it with the back of my hand. "Now that’s not nice," I said in my deadly tone. I cock my gun and aim it at the heart but then again interruption.
Can I please kill him in peace?
"Miss put your gun down." I groan frustratedly at the person who just interrupts me. Guess I have to kill him too since Michael said no eye-witnessed. I looked up at the person and I froze.
He stood there still looking the same since the last time I saw him. We keep staring at each other till I finally recover then look at him coldly. I stood up and shot benjamin at the heart. His eyes widen when he saw me do it.
"Ruby! Come on!" I snapped my head to see Drake calling me. I left him and quickly make my way to my car. I look at him one more time and saw he’s looking at me with curiosity. I drive away from the crime scene still feeling a bit tense.
"Ruby, you okay?" I nodded my head even though he can’t see me. "Tell Matthew to delete the footage."
"Are you sure you okay?"
"I’m fine." I gritted my teeth and turn the earpiece off. 7 years had passed and I saw him again. Great.
"I told you no eyewitness!" he slams his fist to the table. It has been 2 days since we kill benjamin. Michael was happy when he found out benjamin was dead but he was also angry when he found out there’s an eye-witnessed. He then quickly called us to fly to Italy. Now I’m currently in his office alone with him. He told Drake to wait outside cause he only wanted to talk to me. I looked at him blankly. "It’s not like we have an option." Michael's head snapped to me, glaring at me hard. "Then why didn’t you kill him?" I remained silent because he was right, why didn’t I kill him? I kept asking myself that."Ruby I want you to find him and kill him because you’re the one who fucked up!"I scoffed "I fucked up? If only you knew Benjamin's location earlier, we wouldn’t go undercover as a fucking design interior to find his location!" by now the two of us are glaring hard at each other. Since the day he kidnapped me, we never
Bursting inside the house, I quickly make my way to my room. Ignoring the calls from my friend. I took my duffle bag and threw all my things and the file in there. I open my laptop and book a flight to Los Angeles. I didn’t bring any gun with me since I’m not using the jet. Bringing the laptop with me, I head downstairs and find a furious-looking Drake."What the fuck?! You fucking leave me?!" he burst. Keeping my face expressionless, I looked at him blankly. "What? Are you scare? Do you need a teddy bear?"The tension in the room grew to make it tenser. "What’s the matter? You two never fight." Blake said."Nothing, everything is fine." I walked past Drake but he held my arm."Where do you think you’re going?" his voice is cold. I answer with the same tone. "None of your business." I yank my arms from his grasp and walked out of the house after telling the taxi driver to wait."Where are you going?!" I ignore them and
Arriving at the building with my Porsche, I stepped out and gave my car keys to the valet. I walked inside the hotel, I could see a few people are looking at me. Making my way to the ballroom, I could feel myself getting anxious.Come on, I can do this! Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the ballroom graciously. People are looking at me as I walked into the ballroom. I head to the bar, grabbing a glass of champagne with me. The men in this room are eyeing me as if I’m their prey. I mentally roll my eyes at it."Hello, what’s your name?" I turn to my right to see a tall handsome man is looking at me lustfully. I smile politely at him. "Hailey." He outstretched his hands and I shook it. "Pleasure to meet you, I have never seen you before." His thumb caressing my hand. If we are not in this room with people watching over, I sure as hell will break his fingers into pieces. Drawing my hand back, I took my champagne and drink it."I&rsqu
"What?" I said.He shook his head and let me go. "No, I’m sorry. I thought you were... " His voice trailing voice."You were who?""Nothing, um sorry for that. I didn’t see where I was going." He apologizes. Nodding my head, I force a smile. "It’s okay.""So you’re new here?""Yup, I am.""Oh Chase Hudson by the way." He outstretched his hand. I looked at it hesitantly but forcing myself to shake his hands. Once my hands touch him, I could feel the electric pull between us. I quickly draw my hand back and looked away."Ladies and gentleman, please take your seat we will start the charity." I breathe out in relief. Save by the bell.We make our way to our assigned seats. Thankfully, Chase is 2 tables away from me. The charity start and the MC read every peoples name who donated their money. I looked around the people whose names have been called.Every time the MC called one of their names, they ha
It has been 2 days since the charity event and it has been 2 days, I didn’t go and make my move to Chase. For the first time in my life, I kinda doubted myself. I kept hitting the punching bag to relieve my stress.I’m currently at the gym but not the hotel gym. It’s a gym that I found down the streets and it takes 30 minutes to arrived here. There isn’t a lot of people who come here only a few but today I’m alone that’s a good thing for me."Hailey! If you keep hitting the punching bag with force, I'm sure it will hit you right back." I rolled my eyes at him. I stop what I’m doing while taking a deep breath. Turning around, I find Fred is standing there with his arms crossed over his chest."Haha, very funny Fred.""You okay?""Does it look like I’m okay?" He comes closer and observes my face. "Nope, you’re not." I sighed and took my water bottle. Opening the cap, I chug in the water till
10 days left.I only have 10 days left to kill chase.Today, I’m going to meet Chase for lunch while finding information about him. Heading down the lobby, I see Chase is leaning outside his car waiting for me with a few girls are eyeing him like candy and trying to get his attention.I rolled my eyes seeing them. I waved my hand to Chase which he replies with a slight smile and a wave. Making my way to him, I saw the girls are glaring at me. Do they think I will steal their man? Pftt.. yeah right.I’m only here for the mission not to date this man."I see you have a fan," I said gesturing to the girls that are still looking at him. "Oh them?" I nodded. He winks at the few girls. I took a look at the girls and found them blushing. I don’t know why but feel irritated seeing him flirt with them. But he’s not mine so why should I feel irritated? He has the right to do whatever the hell he wants."Hey, you okay?"
Putting on my leather jacket, I tuck my gun in the waistband of my jeans. Taking my knife, I shove it inside my boots. After I’m done getting ready, I grab my car keys and head down to the basement. I walked towards my car and got in.Opening my phone, to see the person I have assigned to kill, I drive out from the basement to Chateau Marmont the location he’s in right now. It took me 45 minutes to arrived at Chateau Marmont. Parking my car at the parking lot, I got out of the car and make my way inside the hotel.Looking around to find a safe spot to open my phone to check the surveillance camera and find where’s heat. Once I found where he is, I make my way to the restaurant and saw he’s eating outside. But not alone, there’s someone with him. Taking out my shades, I wear them and walked outside. I look around for an empty seat and found one behind him.A waitress come to my table and asked for my orders, I order a cocktail and fr
My eyes fluttered open as I felt the light-filled my room. I turned my head to see Blake still sleeping. Reaching out my hands, I caressed his cheek. Blake is the only person who knows my past, the one who knows why I can get kidnapped. But he doesn’t know Chase was the one who caused it. I don’t know what he will react if he knows I know Chase.I sighed silently. "What are you thinking early in the morning?" Blake whispers still with his eyes close.Retracting my hand from my back, Blake opens his eyes. "What are you thinking?" he reaches out and strokes my hair. I smile softly at him. "Nothing, just thinking why are you here?""I want to know why you just flew out like that, without any explanation. And the last time we saw you, you act really cold to Drake and me, that’s why I told the team I wanna find you and they volunteer." I jolted from my sleeping position. I frowned looking at him. "You were the one who plans this? To find me?"
Ruby"That son of a bitch!"The door slammed shut behind me with a resounding thud, the sound reverberating through the empty hallway like a thunderclap in the midst of a storm. Anger boiled within me like a tempest raging in the depths of my soul, threatening to consume me whole with its fiery intensity.I pace back and forth across the room, my mind swirling with a whirlwind of emotions. Anger, frustration, betrayal – they all swirl together in a tangled mess, threatening to overwhelm me like a tidal wave crashing against the shore. But amidst the chaos of my thoughts, there's something else, something I can't quite put my finger on. It's a strange sensation, like a fluttering in my chest, a quickening of my pulse that I can't quite explain. But I push it aside, dismissing it as nothing more than the remnants of the adrenaline rush from our fight in the kitchen. I take a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging within me. I can't let Chase get to me, can't let his accusations an
Chase HudsonA stab of frustration gnawed at the corners of my mind as Ruby stormed out of the living room, her demeanor as cold as ever. For a split second it had felt like she had let her guard down, that she had let herself get comfortable with her surroundings. But as soon as she noticed my presence, her relax demeanor replaced once more by the impenetrable wall of mistrust and suspicion that she had built around herself.I sighed heavily, feeling as though she were trying to avoid me at all costs. With a weary shake of my head, I loose the tie around my neck and headed to my study. The smell of mahogany and leather enveloped me like a warm embrace, and I settled into the plush armchair behind my desk. Pouring myself a generous measure of whiskey, I took a sip and let the fiery liquid burn its way down my throat, the warmth spreading through me like a warm blanket against the chilly air.As I settled into the comfort of solitude, I reached for my phone and dialed the number of my
As I wandered aimlessly through the grand halls of Chase's mansion for what felt like the hundredth time, a sense of futility washed over me like a tidal wave, threatening to drown me in a sea of confusion and despair. There was no getting away from the cruel reality of my imprisonment, no matter how hard I searched or how many rooms I examined. With a heavy sigh, I finally conceded defeat, the weight of my exhaustion bearing down on me like a burden too heavy to bear. I made my way back to the bedroom, the familiar scent of lavender and sandalwood enveloping me like a comforting embrace as I sank down onto the plush mattress, the softness of the pillows cradling my weary body like a mother's gentle touch. My mind was filled with memories of the past as I lay there, staring up at the ceiling with blinding eyes. It served as a bittersweet reminder of the life I had left behind. I hadn't had an actual rest in such a long time, a break from the never-ending cycle of violence and deceit t
The tension in the air was palpable, thick enough to suffocate any semblance of ease as Chase and I sat in silence, the only sound echoing through the room the clinking of our cutlery against porcelain plates. I could feel Chase's eyes burning into me, his gaze like a physical weight that bore into my very soul, but I refused to meet his stare, keeping my focus fixed firmly on my meal as if it were the only thing that mattered. But then, just as I began to relax into the comfortable rhythm of our silent standoff, Chase opened his mouth to speak, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife."Why were you at the party, Ruby?" he asked, his tone deceptively casual yet laced with an undercurrent of suspicion that sent a shiver down my spine.I froze, my fork halfway to my mouth as I struggled to find the right words to answer his question. But before I could formulate a response, Chase continued, his words more of a statement than a question."You were there to kill me, weren't you
RubyI have nowhere else to run.The darkness of the woods enveloped me like a suffocating embrace as I stumbled through the tangled underbrush, my heart pounding in my chest with the frenzied rhythm of fear. I glanced over my shoulder, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I strained to catch a glimpse of Chase's looming figure in the distance. I kept moving forward out of sheer willpower and the survival instinct, but there was no sign of him, no evidence of his persistent pursuit.I knew I was lost, the dense canopy of trees stretching out in all directions like a labyrinth of shadows. However, I refused giving up and held onto the flimsy hope that, somewhere, someway, I am able to get away from Chase. My wounded arm throbbed with a dull ache due to the fight that I had earlier at the party. I grimaced as I slowed my pace, my breath hitching in my throat as I leaned against a gnarled tree trunk to catch my breath. My limbs were gnawing with fatigue, which was eating away at my streng
Chase Hudson The weight of the phone call lingered heavy in the air as I stood outside the hotel room, my mind racing with a tumult of conflicting emotions. "Boss," came the familiar voice on the other end, crisp and efficient as always. "Report," I commanded, my voice tinged with urgency. "There's been a development regarding the incident at the party earlier," my informant began, his tone grave. "We found out that she infiltrated the party using fake names and ID. She went undercover as a waitress, and she is not acting alone. There are four others involved in her plan." I clenched my jaw, my mind racing to piece together the puzzle before me. "Do we have any information on them?" I demanded, my patience wearing thin. "Unfortunately, no," my informant replied. "Their identities and whereabouts remain unknown. But from what we've gathered, they're not your run-of-the-mill criminals. They're skilled, elusive, and highly dangerous." I cursed under my breath, a sense of foreboding
The air in the dimly lit hotel room hung heavy with tension, thick enough to suffocate any semblance of ease. Chase, his steely gaze fixed upon me, seemed more like a predator ready to pounce than a man engaged in conversation. And here I was, Ruby, the unintended prey ensnared within his grasp.I shifted in my seat, not out of discomfort, but out of a calculated attempt to maintain some semblance of control in this precarious situation. "So, Chase," I drawled, feigning nonchalance as I met his gaze head-on, "what's a charming fellow like you doing in a dingy place like this?"Chase's expression remained impassive; his features carved from stone. "Cut the act," he retorted, his voice devoid of any trace of warmth. "I know why you're here. What I want to know is why you decided to crash the party and disrupt my plans."Ah, yes, the party. It seemed my little escapade had ruffled more feathers than I had anticipated. But then again, when did I ever play by the rules? "Well, Chase, darli
I open my eyes and immediately squinted as it made contact with the bright light. I feel something tight on my wrist but trying to move was absolute agony. The wound from the gunshot earlier hasn’t been treated and the fabric is still wrapped around my arm. I groaned in pain as I tried to wiggle my hands as the pain shoot right through my arm. I give up and examine the place instead. I looked around the room trying to figure out where I am, but no clue comes to mind. The room is quite small, but it can fit two people. I tilt my head back and realize there’s a bed and a bathroom in the left corner of the room. This place looks familiar. It looks like a motel room. But is it? I glanced at the clock on the bedside table and saw the time. 1:40 AM My eyebrow furrowed in confusion. How long was I out? More importantly, how am I here? What was the last thing I remember? All these questions ran through my brain. Closing my eyes in hope I could remember the last thing that happened.
"Curious to find out the champagne you spike went?" he leaned forward with a smirk etched on his lips. "See that old man wearing expensive tux with women on each side? He is holding the drink that should be mine." My eyes widen in shocked. Shit! Chase is my target not the old man. I can’t let him drink the champagne or it will make the situation worse. A hand grab ahold of my arm to stop me as I stood up. "Where are you going? Planning to take the drink?" yanking my arm with no avail due to his death grip, he leans closer to my ear. "If you want to see that man survive, you must talk but if you plan otherwise then he’ll die." I face him as I clenched my jaw and glared at him in anger. "There’s nothing to talk about." "Oh, trust me babe, there is." I hissed. "Do not call me that." He raised his brows amusedly. "Why getting the feeling of déjà vu?" balling my fist up, I pressed my body to him catching him off guard. "You know what? Let the old m
