Chapter 98

Bennett's point of view:

When Grace mentioned the bruise, Bennett couldn’t stand being there anymore. He walked away, not looking back again. The doctor had told them what happened. Clearly, Eden didn’t mean this to happen. He felt slightly relieved that she didn’t do it to herself, or he would never be able to forgive himself. Though she did get too drunk and he knew she wouldn't do that without a reason. He wanted to talk to Grace and ask her what it could be, but he had a feeling she wouldn't be nice to him about it. He walked out of the hospital and stood outside, looking at the dark sky.

Bennett heard footsteps approaching him and turned around to see Theo. He put his hand on Bennett's shoulder and said nothing. Bennett asked, "Do you think it's because of me?"

"It could be," Theo replied. "But I don't know what was going on with you two. I know her father is a grade-A asshole and it's a whole different story with her mother."
