Grace cried out in horror when the door opened. Eden was lying on the floor passed out with a broken wine bottle next to her and multiple empty cans of beer on the bed. White foam was coming out of her mouth as her body twitched. Her pants were wet, she had peed herself too. Grace and Theo picked her up and placed her on the bed as the staff member called the ambulance through the room phone. Grace shook violently as she held Eden and caressed her hair, whispering in her ear that everything will be okay. Theo got up and left the room to call Bennett. Grace sat with Eden desperately waiting for the ambulance to arrive. She heard Theo tell Bennett to come directly to the hospital instead of the hotel. Grace felt angered toward Bennett and decided to tell him to not come to see Eden in the hospital room. He was a big part of why Eden was in this condition. She had gone through enough with her parents and she was once again put on the edge with all the drama. She knew it wasn't really B
Bennett's point of view:Bennett was in the hotel gym when he got Theo's call. He got up from doing the bench presses and picked up his phone. Bennett picked up Theo's call and said, "What's up?"Theo was breathing heavily, he was clearly panicking. "You gotta come down to St. Xavier's hospital right now. It's Eden, she's done something to herself, I don't know what happened. Just come fast."Bennett didn't say anything else and ran out of the gym and straight outside. He didn't have time to call his driver so he just hailed a cab. He tried to maintain calm but the heartbeat in his chest was going too fast for him to stay calm. He kept urging the driver to drive faster, but the traffic kept getting in the way. As Bennett sat in the backseat, he couldn't help but think that this was somehow his fault. By trying to push Eden away for her own good, he may have pushed her too far. He never knew that she could be this sensitive. He realized there could be another reason too. As he tried
Bennett's point of view:When Grace mentioned the bruise, Bennett couldn’t stand being there anymore. He walked away, not looking back again. The doctor had told them what happened. Clearly, Eden didn’t mean this to happen. He felt slightly relieved that she didn’t do it to herself, or he would never be able to forgive himself. Though she did get too drunk and he knew she wouldn't do that without a reason. He wanted to talk to Grace and ask her what it could be, but he had a feeling she wouldn't be nice to him about it. He walked out of the hospital and stood outside, looking at the dark sky. Bennett heard footsteps approaching him and turned around to see Theo. He put his hand on Bennett's shoulder and said nothing. Bennett asked, "Do you think it's because of me?""It could be," Theo replied. "But I don't know what was going on with you two. I know her father is a grade-A asshole and it's a whole different story with her mother."Bennett knew it was more than that. "That bruise Gra
Grace looked at Bennett with confusion, wondering what he wanted to tell her.Bennett took a deep sigh and paused for a moment, trying to build up a sentence in his mind, "When you meet her, can you tell her that I care about her a lot? And that I'm sorry."Grace looked at him and asked, "Are you sure you don't want to keep pretending to not want an actual relationship with her?" Bennett was taken aback and looked at her for an explanation. "What? Everyone can see the way you look at her. And when Eden talks about you, I don't know, it feels like everything you do affects her a lot. There's obviously something going on with you two there's no denial. Everyone sees it except Eden. She thinks you're playing with her, and rightly so. You did sleep with another woman the day she left.""I know it was wrong. But she ended everything with me that day. The way she looked at me, it looked like I was the last thing she wanted," Bennett explained. "If she had given me some hope that she wanted
Eden's Point of View:Eden opened her eyes slowly to see a creamy white wall ceiling in warm hospital lights. She tried to lift her head up but something was holding it back. She realized it was nothing physical, but the hammering headache that was making it hard to lift her head up. At first, she couldn't understand where she was, but when she saw a glucose drip on her wrist and the hospital curtains, she realized she was in the hospital. Everything was still blurry and it took her a minute to get back to her senses. When she woke up, a nurse saw her and called the doctor. The doctor walked up to Eden and asked her, "How are you feeling Mrs. Mason?""There's a headache. It's really bad," said Eden as she massaged her temples and squinted her eyes in pain. "Here, this will help," the doctor handed Eden a drink and helped her get up to drink it. She lay in the bed for a few minutes and felt the pain ceasing gradually. "What happened to me?" Eden asked, confused. She didn't remember
Eden picked up her suitcase and looked at Grace, "I'm really going to miss you." She walked over to her and hugged her. "Thank you for everything Grace. I owe you a lot."Grace looked at her as if she was offended, "How dare you? You're like my sister, you owe me nothing."Bennett walked into the room and took the suitcase from Eden's hand. "Is that all?" he asked. Eden smiled and nodded at him. "I'll wait for you downstairs. Take your time," he said and left. Eden looked back at Grace and said, "You'll be staying here with Theo for three more days. Are you sure this is okay?"Grace smiled shyly and said, "It was actually my idea." Eden teasingly said, "I didn't get to have my honeymoon but at least you're going to enjoy yours.""Eden!" Grace said, embarrassed, and playfully smacked Eden's arm away. "Well, I have to go now," Eden said and picked up her purse. She hugged Grace once again and they walked down to the lobby. Theo was waiting there with another car. Eden got into the ca
"You got your ID card? Stationary? All the textbooks you need?" Eden rolled her eyes at Bennett and said, " Yes, yes. Don't worry I got everything." It was Eden's first day of college. A week had passed since she came back from Italy. Bennett had been a perfect gentleman to her. He took care of her and made sure she got everything she needed. Grace had also come back from Italy. Theo and she had another falling out but she refused to talk about it. She was waiting outside Bennett's house, waiting for Eden to come out. She wanted to drop her off on her first day, much to Bennett's chagrin. He tried to reason with Grace that he wanted to go but Grace was adamant about taking her. Eden walked out of the house after kissing Bennett goodbye. She told him everything will be okay, and not to worry. Bennett had been panicking about her first day in college like a parent does for their kid. It turned Eden on how much he cared. But suddenly a small voice in her mind said daddy issues, and Ed
"You must be Eden Mason," the professor asked. He had a rich British accent. "We already did the roll call and you were the only one absent. Thank you for joining us," he said with a hint of amusement in his tone. Edem could see why Grace was staring at her. Though he looked like he was in his early 40s, he was very tall, fit, and muscular, wearing an Armani tweed suit that matched his brown hair with a few gray strands here and there. Eden thought it was not common these days to see a man of his age looking as handsome as he did.Eden looked apologetic and said, "I'm sorry, professor, it won't happen again." "I don't mind if you come late or not come at all, but please ask your friend to not distract the class again," he said jokingly and smiled at Eden. "Please take a seat."Eden awkwardly walked into the hall and found a seat at the back of the class. She wanted to dig a hole in the ground and bury herself right there. The anxiety she felt in high school every time she was the cen
