Running into my stepmother had really shaken me up. It has been a week since I saw her last. I did see my father yesterday, but thankfully, he was across the street and too far away to see me. The fact that I had a beanie on and was walking in the opposite direction helped. I have been so thankful for Kaden since that run-in with my stepmother. He has been so sweet and reassuring, making me understand that all the horrible shit she told me that day was not remotely true. I knew it wasn’t, but all my insecurities from childhood came back. The whole ordeal sent me into a mild panic attack. I think that is what pissed Kaden off the most. She gave me a panic attack and stressed me out, and his concern for our child and me. “What is that look for little sprite?” Kaden asks. “I was just thinking how lucky I am that I have you. I know a few girls in my situation and they don’t have the support of the child's father. I am not even going to mention the whole incident with my bitc
This week has been crazy busy. The four of us returned to the office, and everyone and their brother wanted to talk with us. I am not sure what is going on. Then there is Nick’s new assistant. I get this weird vibe from her. I am positive that I know her from somewhere, but I am not sure where. Brent, Alek, and Lance feel the same way. The four of us have talked about her, and we all feel the same way. I don’t think Nick is comfortable with her, but she knows what she is doing. Phil seems to get along with her fine. I came into the office late today because Everly had an appointment with Aunt Lisa. I still can’t believe how big my son has gotten. I made sure to ask any questions that I had. Aunt Lisa told us that everything was looking good with the pregnancy. I was relieved to hear this. I think Everly was as well. Aunt Lisa said she would do a 4-D ultrasound at our next appointment. I was excited about this, and I could tell everyone was also. We are going shopping
These last two weeks have been stressful. I was right when I said that Jalyssa, Nick's new assistant, was only excited when I came to his office. I mentioned what the others and I had talked about to him, and he said he had also noticed weird behavior from her. She hasn’t done anything, but I try not to go to his office unless I have to. He usually comes up here to my office. We also noticed that she is slightly rude to Everly when she comes around. Although she doesn’t get too nasty, that could also be because Tianya and Kylynn are with her most of the time; Everly comes here. Yeah, I don’t care how big of a bitch you might be to others when those two are around. Even the biggest, bitchiest woman suddenly becomes likable when those two are around. I have no doubt that they would have put Jalyssa in her place if she had given them any attitude. “What is wrong with you two?” I ask. “I just got off the phone with Doug, and he wants to set up a meeting.” Alek sighs. “I don’
I don’t know why I am so nervous. I am standing in the bathroom, looking at myself in the mirror. I smile when I see my bump. It has definitely grown in the last month. I slip on a white lace thong with a matching bra. I look at the dress that I have picked out for tonight. Kaden told me two days ago that he had reservations at one of Brent’s restaurants. He is taking me out to dinner. I have not been to this restaurant yet. I know it is a very high class, and it is supposed to be unique. Tianya told me all about it. I guess Alek took her there a few weeks ago. I was surprised since neither she nor Kylynn is big on middle eastern food. She raved about to my surprise. I know that Brent has also taken Kylynn there as well. She said it was good and told me to check it out. I am still unsure what is happening between those two, but things seem okay now, so I guess everything is going well. I do my hair and put on some light makeup before slipping into the blue dress I had
I could tell something had happened as soon as I entered the building. Everyone was in groups discussing something significant. I tried to catch any information I could as I walked to the elevator but I couldn’t hear anything clearly. I was surprised that I had arrived before Nick and Phil. I walked to my office and put my purse in its usual drawer. I had just put my lunch away when I heard Phil’s voice as he exited the elevator. I went about my morning routine and gave him the coffee I had gotten him. I knocked on the partially open door and walked in after he told me to come in. I can see dark circles under his eyes. He looks exhausted. “Good morning. I have your coffee.” I said. “Oh thank god. I was up late last night and didn’t sleep well. Damn this is good.” Phil groans. I giggle as he sits down. Initially, I wasn’t sure about this, but I love working with Phil. We get along excellently. Nick is a great boss and has been very patient with me. They told me I q
Lance’s idea was to have Jalyssa be Phil and Ben’s assistant. I knew Ben was hesitant initially, but after the first two days, I think he adapted to the idea quickly. Nick was on board with it, so we had him talk to her and let her know what was happening. According to him, she was ecstatic. I knew it would be all over the building on Monday about Everly and I getting engaged. I had already announced that she was carrying my child, and no one thought anything when she, Tianya, or Kylynn would randomly show up. Everyone is used to them filtering in and out that no one even bats an eye anymore. The only people to react are new employees or visiting their friends or family for lunch. Oh, and a few of our investors or associates didn’t believe we had nailed down the contract with them. Mostly, no one bothers getting us to arrange a meeting with them. I think they realized that we couldn’t help them. “Nick said that Jalyssa went quiet when he told her that the two of you had go
I didn’t make it to Ian and Logan’s after work on Friday. I got a call from Mom saying that she needed me to come over. She sounded stressed, so I told her I would be over soon. I got there, and nothing looked out of place. It turned out that I needed to help Dad with the sink in the upstairs guest bathroom. He had taken it apart because it was clogged. We could not fix it, so I told them to call a plumber in the morning. I don't know why Dad would even think he could fix it. He fixed minor house issues when we were younger, but he always called a professional when it came to plumbing or electrical problems. Bethany told me he had been watching several youtube videos showing how to fix everyday housing issues. I guess he thought he was now a general handyman since watching those videos. I am starting to think that my dad has way too much time on his hands. I am going to Ian and Logan’s to meet with his dad. Besides being a businessman, I am also a lawyer. The gate opens a
I am still trying to process everything Lance told us the other day. Nothing exciting happened at work, so I told Everly that I would stop by a friend's house. I told her there was some business I needed to discuss with them, and she told me she was just about to call me. She said she was going to Jenna’s to help her with something. It concerns Lance, but it wasn’t my place to ask. Lance told us things were going well, but I felt like something had happened between them. I am sure Everly will tell me later. Brent and Alek had been pouting all day since their women were still out of town. Tianya and Kylynn will be back this weekend with their cousin Dani. I left the office and headed over to Ian and Logan’s house. I needed to see for myself that what Lance told us was true. Everly had told us about her family but never mentioned any names. She would always say her father of brothers. Everly’s last name is Atherton, while Ian and Logan’s is Rainville. Everly changed her las
One Year Later I had no idea that a toddler could move that fast. I am chasing Colton around the backyard. This little guy is quick. He is a year and a half now and growing like a weed. Everly and I got married six months ago, and everything has been great. Leaving him when we went on our honeymoon was hard, but I know he had a blast with his grandparents. He was thrilled when he got a set of golf clubs for Christmas. Dad and Aaron took him golfing when we were on our honeymoon; now, Colton is obsessed with it. He will actually sit there for hours and watch tournaments on tv. I will probably get him some golf lessons in a couple of years. He also loves hockey. That is thanks to Drew. Justin and Tristian. Those three are hockey fanatics and have taken Colton to several games. I laugh when I see Tianya and Kylynn walking over to where we are. They were suspossed to have started their next tour five months ago, but things happened. They had some issues with the recordings
Six months later “Are you laughing at me?” Kaden asks. “Yes, I am. I am sorry but it was funny.” I tell him. Kaden is a wonderful father to Colton. Colton loves being with his father. I am glad they have such a fantastic relationship, even if Colton is only six months. I can’t help but laugh at the two of them. Kaden was changing Colton’s diaper, and Colton just peed on his father. I was told stories about incidents like this happening, and luckily this is the first time that this has happened to Kaden. I walk over and take Colton from Kaden so he can get cleaned up. I laugh some more when Kaden pouts as he walks to our room. I am in love with our house. When Kaden showed me Colton’s nursery, I cried. I couldn’t believe he had done that for me. The nursery was set up perfectly, and I didn’t change a thing about it. I was surprised to see the glider there, but I love that. That is where I sit when I feed Colton. I love this little man so much. I am surprised that he
I let out a groan as I opened my eyes. The room was dimly lit, which I was thankful for. I looked at the wall, and it was plain white. I knew it wasn’t the room that I was being held in, but I had no idea where this room was. I could smell disinfectant and hear several different beeping sounds. I looked around and realized I was in the hospital. I immediately tried to get up but almost screamed as pain ripped through my stomach. I placed a hand on my stomach to find it soft and flat. I started to freak out when I didn’t feel my hard baby belly anymore. “Calm down, little sprite. Everything is fine.” Kaden says. I look to where his voice came from to see him standing there. His hand is on my arm, making me stay in bed. I look at him, and I can feel the tears in my eyes. I remember hearing several voices, and then the pain started. Shit, I went into labor at that damn house. I also remember seeing blood before I passed out. “Did I lose…” I start to say. “Hush, our litt
I was beyond pissed off. Not only had these assholes been playing games with us for almost a year now they had officially crossed the line. They had kidnapped Everly. I knew the moment Gio walked in that something was wrong. When he said that Everly had gone to meet me at the house after she had received a text from me, I knew they had her. I called Sean immediately and told him what had happened and that Everly had been taken. I could hear him growl on the other end of the line. He told us to meet at the house since she was taken from that place. There were several cars there when we pulled up. “Shit when did they get back?” Gio asked. Standing there arguing with Doug was none other than Tianya and Kylynn. They weren’t due back until tomorrow. I watch as everyone walks into the house. The five of us hurried inside, and I was surprised to see Dad there. He held up Everly’s handbag, and a new wave of anger rushed threw me. I grabbed it and started digging through it. I f
I slowly open my eyes. I almost get them open when I close them again quickly. The light in this room is blinding. I slowly open my eyes again and try to sit up. A bolt of pain rips through my head, making me grab it. I feel a large bump, and my hand comes in contact with something dry and crusty in my hair. I gingerly scoot back until my back hits the wall. I keep my eyes closed until my head stops spinning. I open them again and look around. I am in what appears to be a bedroom. I don’t recognize anything in this room. I sit there for a while, trying to figure out where I am when things slowly start coming back to me.__FLASHBACK__I had been fed up with being at the apartment and wanted to get out of the house. I jumped into the shower. I had a sweater dres
Three weeks is all we have left until our little man arrives. Aunt Lisa told us today that he could really arrive any day. I can tell that Everly is both excited and anxious. Honestly, I am feeling the same way. I still can’t believe that the birth of my son is that close. It seemed like yesterday when Everly walked into that meeting, and then I found out she was pregnant with my son. “You looked stressed,” Lance says. “I am not stressed. I am more anxious than anything. There are only three weeks left until the baby is here. Aunt Lisa told us that he could literally arrive any day now.” I reply. “Everything will be fine. Both of you have tons of support. I will admit your cousin is a big fucking crybaby.” Lance states.
Two more months is all I have left. Thank god, I am over being pregnant. I love my son and feel him move around, but my back is killing me. My feet hurt, and I feel like an overfilled water balloon. I am getting very worried that if he grows any more that I won’t be able to have him naturally. Aunt Lisa told me at my monthly appointment that everything was looking good. From her estimates, she says that he is 7lbs, maybe even a bit over that right now. Of course, that pushed me into overthinking mode. I shudder when I realize that if he gains a pound or more a month until I give birth, he could weigh 9lbs or more. There is no way I can push that out of my body. I can feel the panic attack starting.“Ok, you need to calm down. Everything is going to be fine.” Claire says.&
I am worried about Everly. She has been acting strange this last week. I know it has nothing to do with the pregnancy, so something else is happening. She doesn’t seem any more stressed than normal. I can tell that these last three months are going to be the hardest for her. Our little man has grown considerably, and Everly has been complaining of back pain. I make sure to run her a nice hot bath every night, which she enjoys, along with her nightly foot massages. I love seeing her pregnant with my son, but I also hate seeing her in pain. I talked with Aunt Lisa earlier, but she told me that there is nothing she can really do. She told me that this is normal for being in her third trimester of pregnancy. I hate that there is nothing I can do to help her. Aunt Lisa said doing the little things that I have been a big help in keeping Everly comfortable. I am glad she has stoppe
We met with Arthur two days ago, and I am still processing what he told us. I was expecting the mystery person to be one of moms relatives, but I was not expecting it to be my grandmother and one of my aunts. Ironically the two mystery people that showed up with the lawyer are the same to that randomly showed up that day at mom and dads and made a huge scene. I am not sure what to think. I looked at mom, and she didn’t seem surprised at all. Everly and dad were on the way to the airport to pick up Gio. He finally got everything straightened out with his family. He said that his dad is doing good and should be getting out of the hospital in a couple more days. They wanted to make sure there were no other clots anywhere before they sent him home.“How are you holding up?” Brent asks.&l
