"How could you?" I scream, placing my open palm over my chest. A thick tear runs down my face as I watch my mate, the man the goddess gave me and whom I've waited for the past five years, holding the waist of the blonde.
"I'm sorry, Malia!" He says, seeming to be in as much pain as I am. "I... I know what I did wasn't right, but... She's pregnant and I have to own up to my mistakes."
"Mistakes? Are you talking about our child, your heir?" The blonde teases me, giving me an ironic smile. "I'm sorry, dear, I didn't know your husband was... married."
"Oh, of course!" I laugh, glaring at Joshua. "I don't want to stay here and witness all of this."
I turn around, ready to leave Joshua alone with the blonde woman. My steps are quick toward the exit when I stop still and pivot on my own feet.
"Oh, by the way..." I spin on my own feet, facing my mate again. "I, Malia Backer, future Luna of the Red Stone pack, reject you, Joshua Brown, as my mate."
He stares at me in shock, placing his hand on his chest, screaming, squeezing his eyes shut. His breathing is erratic, and he falls to his knees in the Alpha's office.
"What have you done?" He shouts, glaring at me. "How could you? What right do you have?"
"You have your own family now," I say while choking back a whimper from the piercing pain coursing through my body.
Betrayal, along with the breaking of the bond, makes me want to scream in agony, to throw myself on the ground and be cared for forever. I feel as if my world has just crumbled at my feet.
"We could have worked it out, we..." He swallows his words. Pain turns into hatred. "I, Joshua Brown, Alpha of the Red Stone Pack, accept your rejection."
His words catch me off guard. I grip onto the doorframe as stubborn tears start to trickle down my eyes.
What did I do to deserve such torture? Do I deserve everything that's happening to me?
"You're so ungrateful." He grits through his teeth. "I was the only one who wanted you in your condition, and now you break our bond when I'm about to become an alpha? What will the whole pack think? Ungrateful, foolish!"
"I would never accept a betrayal like this. I would be a laughingstock among the people and..." He interrupts me with a bitter laugh.
"More? Spare me, Malia!" He struggles to get up. His eyes burn into me like fire. "You're a wolfless one. I did charity for you.""I hate you, Joshua!" I whisper. "I hate you as much as I loved you. I hope she doesn't ruin your second chance if you were worthy of one."
I turn to leave, but I find the Alpha and Luna standing at the door. Their eyes are wide.
"Joshua!" Luna Meredith exclaims, holding onto my shoulders. "What is this?"
"Father, mother..." He exclaims. "This is the girl I told you about yesterday."
"He arrived just one day and managed to break my heart," I murmur to her. "I'd rather have died than feel this unbearable pain."
"No!" The Alpha murmurs. "The bond is broken?"
"Yes," I respond to him, lifting my chin. I couldn't lose my pride. I no already had nothing. "I would never accept being the other within my marriage, Alpha."
"I always thought your brother would bring me this kind of disgrace, not you, Joshua!" His father shakes his head. "It's truly a pity it ended like this!" He murmurs and turns to me. "Come, dear, I'll fix the mess my son made."
The worst of all this is knowing that I could never go back to my parents' house. They were and had been very cruel to me. The only pride I gave them was marrying Joshua and being the future Luna of the pack, and now that I have nothing, I'm just an ordinary and worthless woman who will have to work to eat in that house, just as it had been throughout my life.
A pain spreads through my chest with every step I take into the room I shared with my mate for a whole year before the war and the past five years, I've slept alone.
I can already hear my mother's harsh voice saying that I took everything from her. My father will act as if I were his greatest disgrace and will fully agree with my ex-mate, and my brothers, they will use me as a joke.
When I enter my room, I am in a panic. I look at my in-laws, the Alpha, and the Luna of the pack with pleading eyes.
"I can't go back home," I whisper, in panic. "They'll destroy me."
"I would never send you home, dear." Meredith hugs me. "I have an even better idea to keep you out of her game."
"What?" I ask.
"You can go to my son's realm. King Alpha Jaden." She explains, looking at her husband. "I doubt he would deny you shelter, especially due to the broken bond."
I blink at her and shudder, feeling my cheeks burn.
I never met Jaden, but I've heard a lot about him during the years I've been here. His mother always pointed out how he got the position of King Alpha and how he was cruel for believing in a witch's prophecy.
I was afraid of Jaden, it was a fact. Along with his legacy, he dragged behind him a trail of blood and death. Wars were common at the beginning of his reign. He destroyed everyone who tried against him.
How could I go to him now? How could I get shelter from such a cruel man? And what if he acted like everyone else because I don't have a wolf?
"You don't need to be scared." She holds my face. "We want to help you, and this is the only way."
I nod, closing my eyes tightly. There were no choices. "Alright. If he'll have me, I'll go!"
Two days ago, we sailed on the high seas. I am lying in my cabin, staring at the ceiling, having to deal with my pain alone. Luna Meredith and the Alpha did not accompany me.A phone call and there it was, my fate was sealed alongside the cruel King Alpha Jaden Brown. A man who doesn't even remember his own family. The eldest son, the son who rejected the position of Alpha in his pack and became the king of all others. He believed in the prophecy and chased after his future, claiming what he believed was rightfully his – and which became his, even with everyone else saying it was madness.Less than one month ago, I would never have imagined it would end like this. That my mate would betray me. That I would be alone in life. That I would have to leave everything I believed in.I sigh heavily as I open the door to the room, feeling the boat move in the water. It was a bit warm, but as I reached the stern, I could see solid ground just a few meters away. I sigh in relief."We've arrived,
Jaden"Why does she need to take off her blouse?" I interrupt Doctor Paul."So I can see the affected area, Jaden," he says, staring at me. "We need to get an idea of the damage. A fall, depending on the height, could result in serious fractures.""I don't think it's necessary for her to..." I sigh. "She's not going to take her shirt off in front of a man she doesn't know." My eyes land on her."B-but, Alpha King..." she murmurs.I growl. How dare he even think to ask my mate to strip in front of him? What kind of pervert do I have as a doctor?"What am I missing here?" Paul finally asks."Jaden," Lilith's voice catches my attention as she enters the hospital and sighs loudly. "Let the doctor examine her!""He wants her to undress," I argue."He wants to take care of her. Or do you want her to be in pain all over her body?" Lilith asks, raising her eyebrows at me. "You can undress, dear."With embarrassment, Malia does so. I widen my eyes as I realize she's not wearing a bra. I approa
MaliaAn omega sets a generous plate in front of me, and my stomach rumbles. I haven't eaten since last night before going to bed. I don't know how many hours have passed, but I didn't have breakfast before being pushed off the boat."Eat!" Jaden commands, sitting beside me. He picks up his fork and knife and fills his mouth, chewing. He swallows and stares at me. "Tell me, what happened for you to end up here. From the looks of it, you're far from home.""Yes, I am!" I sigh. First, I take a bite of my food. I focus on how to start telling my story, but no point seems good enough. "I don't have, I mean, I didn't have a wolf. Until this morning, I was a girl without a wolf. I've always been the disgrace of my family, my father's shame... until I became Joshua Brown's mate, your brother," I pause, and he growls. "Well, it turns out we had only a year between finding each other and him leaving for war. We got married and only had time for our honeymoon, which was particularly terrible."
Malia After the kiss, Jaden seemed to be fighting his wolf not to devour me at the minute that we were in the same place. "This is your room," He opens a door, giving me entry. "This is where you will sleep. Luna's room is next to mine." "This is Luna's room?" I ask, amazed. "Yes, that's what you will be." Jaden murmurs with a huge smile. "Jaden, I don't..." I turn to face him, but I lose my words. I can't accept this. I can't simply take a place like that. I never imagined it would be mine. He is King Alpha, not by right, but by honor. What did I do to help conquer his empire? What did the moon goddess see in me to hand me over to an Alpha King? "I don't understand," He says, holding my elbow. "Why don't you want Luna's room?" "I'm not Luna, Jaden. You're not even sure if I'm your mate, so how can you give me such an honor? I don't know if I deserve this!" "And why wouldn't you be?" He asks, with confusion in his eyes. "I don't know. I'm divorced!" I stare at my fingers. "I
Jaden I paced back and forth in my office. Lilith was sitting on the floor, legs folded in a butterfly position, hands resting on her knees, posture upright, eyes closed, and the natural crease in her forehead, which always appeared when she was very focused. "If you keep walking like that, you're going to open a hole in the floor." She says, floating on the floor. A circle was drawn with salt around her and some candles were carefully lit outside. "Am I bothering you?" I ask, stopping to stare at her. "Yes!" It's the only thing she responds before seeming even more immersed. I sit in the armchair and run my hands over my face one or two times, rubbing my fingers together. I was too anxious to stay still. Seconds later, Lilith sits on the floor and opens her eyes. She stares at me with narrowed eyes and stands up, dusting off her long dress, moistening her lips, and walking towards me. "I could hardly see anything, all because of your impatience." She huffs, sitting in front of
Malia When Jaden opens the door, I finally take everything in, stunned, too shocked to believe. The room is huge with several shelves that go from floor to ceiling. "Is all of this... yours?" I ask, and I'm sure my eyes are sparkling. I have always been passionate about books and the world of books. Hiding in a life that wasn't mine seemed much more comfortable than having to deal with my harsh, unhappy, and humiliating reality. I also wasn't allowed to touch the library in my house. I had to clean and help the maids, who were the only nice people to me in that house. My parents didn't have a rank in the pack, but they were rich, and for them, it was disrespectful that I was so weak and incapable. I was hidden from society for several years, studied at a public school of the pack, and couldn't say that I was from the family. I suffered bullying at home and school, being rejected by my family to the point of living like a poor omega. They were never ashamed to show everyone that I
A little clumsily, I stood up and took quick steps towards Jaden, finding Catherine standing in the doorway. "Oh, dear," she puts her hand to her lips. "I got in the way of something." "No," "Yes," we say at the same time and face each other seconds later. "Of course, she got in our way," he rolls his eyes. "What does Liam want?" "No, but he's downstairs, waiting in the Hall!" She sighs heavily. Jaden keeps a scowl on his face and waves to her as he leaves the room. He doesn't face me and I realize that he must not be someone my mate likes to receive. "He also brought an entourage with him," Catherine mutters, walking a little behind me. I face her, frowning. She gives me a meaningful look and I just nod, trying to keep my tongue inside my mouth. I don't feel comfortable giving my opinion and I've never had that space with Joshua and his family. At times, I believed that I was a piece of work that they kept with them. We wolves believe in the power of the bond. When the
Jaden "I stretch in the middle of training. Lilith wiggles her legs in amusement as she stares at my shirtless companions doing the same warm-up as me. I watch her as she sticks a licorice in her mouth and takes a bite. "Take your eyes off her," my coach says, raising my face to him. "Sorry," I whisper. "You'll be Alpha, Jaden! You have to keep your head on straight and set an example," he mutters. "Don't let me down." "Got it!" I whisper. He takes a few steps back, moving out of my way and leaving me face-to-face with Liam. My cousin. The biggest son of a bitch in the world. I fucking hated him. He could be a fucking pain in the ass, even if we only saw each other a few times a year. He'd come here for the vacations and my uncle demanded that he train to keep fit, even though I didn't think it was necessary. "You really like the witch," he says, giving me a teasing look. "I could never see anything in her before," her eyes meet mine as a challenge, "but now you seem to
20 YEARS LATER“Darling?” I called as I opened Jaden’s office door.“Beautiful.” He smiled warmly at me. “What do you need?”“Nothing,” I murmured, smiling back. “I just missed you.”“Well, lucky for you, I’m finishing up my work now,” he said, grumbling.“Well, even if you hadn’t finished, I would have insisted you stop.” I said, leaning over his office chair. His hands moved to my hips, pulling me closer. His lips met mine, and he drew me in, guiding my legs to either side of his hips. For the past 20 years, Jaden and I couldn’t keep our hands off each other. It was almost as if our bond was continually renewing itself, which was pretty incredible. Our kisses deepened, and he stood up from the chair with me still wrapped around him, placing me on top of his desk. Jaden's fingers traced every inch of my body.“Jaden, we’re running late,” I murmured, feeling him plant kisses all over my neck and chest.“No one will mind, Malia,” he whispered, as I dug my nails into his shoulders.Jade
Two months later…The pain overwhelmed me completely. It was early morning, and I groaned as I got up and placed my feet on the cold floor of my room.“It’s time, Malia,” Fawn said in my head.“Oh my God. Not again,” I groaned.“This time, with just one baby, we can have a natural birth,” Fawn said, excited.“Oh, no! It… it must hurt,” I whimpered.“Malia, we’re strong, dear,” she winked at me. “We’ll manage. We always do. Look at everything we’ve been through,” she sighed.I nodded as another wave of pain hit me, and I groaned while getting out of bed to try and go to the bathroom, only to find water running down my legs and dripping onto the floor.Jaden jumped up, startled, and turned on the bedside lamp. “W-what?” He seemed to be trying to process what was happening.“Dear, I’m in labor,” I said, biting my cheek.“We need to go to the hospital,” he said, jumping out of bed and searching for things I didn’t understand.“Call the doctor, Jaden,” I grumbled. “And your mother. Call bo
I frowned, my gaze shifting between the two women. Sophie’s eyes were downcast, her hands trembling slightly as she kept them clasped. I had never seen her like this before — so vulnerable, so frightened. A shiver ran down my spine.“What’s going on?” I asked, my tone now more serious. “Is something wrong?”Sophie finally raised her head, her eyes meeting mine. They were filled with so much emotion — fear, hope, regret. It was as if she was carrying a weight that was crushing her from within.“Jaden,” she whispered, her voice wavering. “There’s something you need to know… something I should have told you a long time ago.”My heart began to race. Malia squeezed my hand gently, a gesture of support, but I could see the concern in her eyes too. Okay, something was starting to feel very wrong here.“Just tell me,” I urged, trying to keep my voice steady. “What is it?”Sophie took a deep breath, her chest heaving as if she was about to dive into the deepest, darkest part of the ocean. “I…
I was determined. Today would be the day I would reveal everything to everyone. Finally, Jaden would know that Sophie was his biological mother, the one who had been prevented from raising him due to the cruelty of others. When Sophie entered the room to bring my breakfast, she looked as calm and composed as ever. She walked in with a tray and a smile on her face, but there was something in her eyes that made me feel it was the right moment."Good morning, Queen Malia," Sophie said, placing the tray on the table beside the bed. "As always, I prepared your coffee myself.""Good morning, Sophie," I replied, watching her closely. "Actually, I need to talk to you about something very important."Sophie raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised, and sat on the edge of the bed. "What happened? It sounds serious.""It is serious," I confirmed, looking at her firmly.I hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words to express my discovery. Like it or not, it was something serious to share,
I woke up with the weak afternoon sun filtering through the curtains, feeling a restless sleep overtaking me. I barely noticed when I fell asleep. The time seemed to drag on throughout the afternoon, and every minute I waited for the results was a torment. I looked at Jaden, who was still sleeping peacefully beside me, and carefully got up to avoid waking him. I dressed quickly before anyone could appear and left my room, checking to make sure I was alone. I descended the castle’s corridors, my heart racing with each step toward the doctor’s office. Each footfall seemed to echo in my chest, reflecting the mix of anxiety and hope I felt. The need for confirmation and the fear of facing a painful truth was almost paralyzing. When I finally reached the doctor’s office door, I knocked softly and entered as soon as he gave a brief “come in.” He was sitting at his desk with a grave expression, which instantly sent a shiver down my spine. “Majesty, the results are ready,” he said, his
"Why do you want to know about my mother?" he asks, his eyes dropping to me with a gleam. "She died, as you know, and—" "No, dear. Your real mother. Didn't your father tell you about her?" I ask. "Oh, that..." He clears his throat and looks at the ceiling. "Dad didn’t give me any photos or descriptions. But he said her name was Sophie, that she lived in our pack, but they were forbidden to live their love after they turned eighteen, when they hadn’t discovered they were mates." He pauses slightly, my eyes widening with each new piece of information. "So, my grandfather took my mother away. They reunited sometime later and spent one night together, making love. The next day, my father found his true mate, and my mother completely disappeared again. Dad tried to move on with his bond, but a year later, when I was only three months old, my mother showed up at his door, begging him to raise me." "What do you mean?" I frown. "Why?" "My mother had a cruel mate, love." His fingers twi
Soph had a mother’s love. She took care of me with a tenderness I had only experienced in my childhood. Now, after my bath, I'm finishing my chicken sandwich while she brushes my hair in front of the mirror in my room.“You have beautiful hair,” she says, gently pulling it back to keep it from falling into my face.“Thank you,” I smile. “So, is the weather here always like this? Does it change so quickly?”“Ever since I got here, yes.” She nods.“So, you’re not from around here?” I ask, surprised.“No,” she laughs. “I’m from the other side.”“Where from?” I ask.“Well…” She clears her throat. “I think this is the only place I’ve really put down roots. I used to travel a lot,” she stammers a bit.“That must have been hard to do with a child,” I murmur.“Actually, no.” Her cheeks flush a little. “I did it alone. Reuniting with my son felt like receiving a gift from the goddess.”“That’s so touching,” my eyes sparkle. “Why did you leave him?”“Oh, I had a problem with my mate, who wasn’t
The days have been almost all the same. I think the pregnancy has made me slower and sleepier, so by the time I wake up, Jaden has already left to start his work as king.I know he's trying to protect me because of the baby, but I want to help while I still can since, during my postpartum recovery, it will be impossible to do much. Besides, we'll have a newborn to take care of.A week ago, we found out that I'm pregnant with a boy. He’s huge, a bit bigger than the twins were, since he doesn’t have to share the womb with anyone else. I can already imagine that he’ll be a big, strong man when he grows up.I sighed as I placed my feet on the cold floor of my room and shivered. A cold front had arrived in the city, and I couldn’t quite handle it. I discovered that the climate here is much milder than in my old pack — which is several miles away from here.I was wrapped in one of Jaden’s hoodies, which was several sizes too big and reached halfway down my thighs, along with a pair of my sw
I smiled widely when I saw Jaden. I walked over to him and gently threw myself into his arms. “Hi, dear. How was your day?”“Good,” I murmured. “But it's even better to be home.”The clock on the nightstand read 7:30 PM, which meant we had spent much more time out than we had planned. Anyway, today had been wonderful, and I felt more connected to the culture of the country.“And how was it here?” I asked, looking up at him.“Tiring,” he said, brushing a strand of my hair from my eyes.“You know you can always call on me for support,” I murmured. “I also have responsibilities in this pack.”“For now, you’re busy producing organs and tissues; I think you can take a break for a while,” he joked, and I laughed, rolling my eyes.“I still want to see the kids before dinner,” I said.“I stopped by earlier; they were in the bath, and I decided not to disturb them,” he murmured. “I was waiting for you.”I smiled at him, leaning in for a chaste kiss. As we embraced, I heard the children’s loud,
