Sheriff Morgan’s POV

Back at the investigation room, we discussed at length on how to control the situation and also give hope to the citizens of Winster county.

“Agent Tom, care to join us for the conference?” I asked, I was looking for increased credibility before the media and the general public

Agent Tom’s POV

“I wouldn’t mind” I said in response, “the best way to make the perpetrators come out of their shell is to look strong and unbiased” I continued.

Lynn’s POV

“Concerning the chip, nothing much have been done so far, the chip is encrypted with password at various points…”

Emma’s POV

“I think we should leave out the chip in the conference, let’s go with…”

Kayla’s POV

“No!” I replied. “ Showing the chip will put them at harm’s way because they might try to get it back…”

Emma’s POV

What they say makes sense, there must be something important in the chip that made Albert to swallow it

Vin’s POV I was standing behind Emma the whole time, all of a sudden I saw that he was uneasy, then I followed the direction of his eye, I saw what going on, I quickly pushed the sheriff out of the bullet direction as everyone ducked, the bullet hit and penetrated the wall. The next bullet got the sheriff. Meanwhile, the man was shot, we quickly rushed towards that direction in hot pursuit of the criminal. Emma’s POV “That’s Tanner the culprit of Max’s murder!” Tanner’s POV Even though, the boss told me to stay underground for some time, I won’t want to miss this opportunity to kill old Morgan. He is my mortal enemy: he killed my brother I want to get back at him at all cost, I don’t know how that blonde detective noticed me but he has been intently looking at me as though he recognized me. In a form of reflex action he shot me as I fired at Morgan. I quickly rushed outside, told Chris to drive the car, while I escaped

Agent Tom’s POV I quickly surveyed the scene, I got clues from the organizer to the security, they need to be brought in for questioning. I found that the tire belongs to an SUV. “How come that Tanner guy looked familiar?” I kept asking myself. I must carefully follow this lead to gain the upper hand in this case because so far it seems to be going nowhere. Tanner’s POV Thankfully, the bullet just grazed my shoulder, so I had to tie a bandage around it. “Damn! This stuff hurts” I muttered to myself. At least I have gotten my revenge on old Morgan. The image of the man standing like a statue behind Morgan, “have I really seen him or is it just déjà vu?” I was brought back the beep on my burner phone. It is the boss! Smith’s POV As I saw the news this evening, I was really pissed off with Tanner, he is all brawn but no common sense. I have to address this case. “I want to see your foolish arse, where the hell are you?...”

  • KATE   Change

Emma’s POV Through the night we kept looking for possible clues by replaying the various clips on hand and the CCTV footages. Agent Tom just went to sleep immediately, “good night guys and don’t breakdown” he said and quickly dozed off in the nearby cushion. We all agreed with him because technically, there is nothing much we can achieve in such state. We all went to bed. I was woken up by my phone’s beep around 5:15 am, it was Stanley. “Good morning bro” I said in response to his greeting, he wanted to catch up on the recent development. After a lengthy conversation, he told me of his intentions to visit Kate today. “Guys wake up! We should visit the sheriff!” I shouted to wake the sleepyheads: Vin and Kayla. Agent Tom was already awake. We all hope for the best, not just for Morgan but for all Winster county to be safe. Vin’s POV When we got the hospital, we quickly raced to the ICU, old Morgan was just lying helpless

  • KATE   Charles?

Stanley’s POV This is my first meeting with Kate and I believe I will get substantial information or a probable evidence of her innocence to hasten her release from arrest. Moreover, Melissa has contacted me of her intentions to withdraw the complaint filed against her. Seated opposite her, I was impressed with her at first sight, she is really cool I thought. “Good morning Miss Kate,” I greeted her, “my name is Stanley Stewart…” Kate’s POV The man seated opposite me is like a mirror image of detective Emma. For some reasons I feel like telling him everything. I have been preparing myself mentally for some days now. “My name is Kate Zainab Omar” I said looking directly at his expression. He was just firm and smiled a bit. “How did you meet Albert, miss Kate?” he asked. This is my love story with Albert. “It was the summer of 2017, I was working at the Smith’s bar, I was ordered to serve him, after serving him; h

Stanley’s POV “Do you know that he is the suspect in Albert’s murder case?” Kate’s POV “What!” I thought they said something about one Tanner...” then I realized that either I have lost my mind or that I was blind. The images in my mind started to form intelligible scenarios in my mind. Maybe Melissa was right all along, my ex killed my hubby. I thought I was strong but now all my strength seemed to have dissipated, I just broke down and started crying. Stanley’s POV When Kate came to the realization that Charles and Tanner are one and same person, she couldn’t help that feeling of helplessness, she broke down in tears. I gave her my handkerchief to wipe her face, ”it is not your fault Kate” I said to lighten her mood Kate’s POV “Really? Who would believe that, I don’t even believe it myself” I said amidst tears. All of a sudden someone hugged me and when I turned it was Emma. “It is okay Kate, I believe

  • KATE   Room 213

Agent Tom’s POV All the leads I have followed these two days were all futile. It was as though that Tanner guy vanished into thin air. He sure has a calculative boss who is able to cover his tracks. The person I actually need to find out is the boss. Finally Lynn got me the chip for examination. I quickly used my system and the special software to decipher some of the encryption but they are just too many. Moreover, this chip is not a regular agent chip. It is for our highest level of security. I shivered as realization dawns me. “It must someone he wants to protect,” I thought aloud. Then comes the question, who could it be? Now everyone one around him seems suspicious. I need to inform the team so that we take down this bastard. Vin’s POV I decided to visit old Morgan again, on getting to his room, I saw someone choking him as though to sniff the life out of him. I quickly rushed inside the room we exchanged a few blo

Kate’s POV When I got toy apartment, everything looked different toe, it was as though I left for over a year. I smiled to myself, my life is becoming more and more interesting. After arranging the parlour, I decided to pack Albert’s belongings. As I was packing it I saw a written note with Smith’s bar scribbled on it. Then I decided to check through. Then I saw a message written on it dated to April 29th :” I finally discovered the mystery and the man behind the veil..” I quickly placed a call to detective Emma. Emma’s POV I have just returned to the station with Vin and Kayla. We needed to restrategise to be able to apprehend these criminals. While we were discussing Kate called me and told me what she just saw. I quickly briefed the team, on the recent development. Kayla offered to go with me, so went together. Kayla’s POV When we got there, Kate showed us the two written notes she just discovered from Albert

  • KATE   Yes I will

Emma’s POV I put on the radio, the news was already everywhere about Kate’s running for mayorial office. I was pleasantly surprised by her decision even after everything she had been through for years she still came out better. I am very happy for her. On getting to the station, Kayla, Vin and Lynn were very excited and happy for her. It was like I was the one running for office, I felt huge burden on me each time I remember that. The news turned Winster county mayorial candidates upside down; because right now Kate is the most popular person in Winster county. Stanley’s POV The campaign was hectic for me because she made me her campaign manager. We focused on reaching out to the youth in correctional facilities, women empowerment and environmental preservation. Before the election, Kate already has 70% of the polls. I have not had a good sleep since then, but I was very happy. This is one of the things I love doing. Helping Kate is li

  • KATE   Running for mayor

Kate’s POV I was at loss on what to wear. Even though we have dated for long, I rejected his proposal once. Then our relationship became cold. But since I came back to Winster county, my heart has been skipping each time I see him. Finally, I saw the pink gown I have been looking for. It was Emma that bought it for me. It was already 7pm, I dressed up as early as 6:40pm occasionally sweating. Finally, he called me that he has come to pick me up. Melissa was very supportive and excited for me. As I stepped out, I saw him standing near his car dressed in black tuxedo suit. He came forward and took my hands. Emma’s POV I decided to look good today. I even went to the salon to cut my hair and sideburns. I was leaning on my car waiting for her to come out. Finally, she came out. She looks very beautiful in that pink gown. “Where are we going?” she asked. “It is a secret,” I answered. We arrive

  • KATE   Second chance

Kate’s POV I have not seen Chris for three years. He looks healthy and happy. “I am doing great,” I answered. I saw that he has really changed. He was very excited to see me. “When is your parole coming up?” “Few months from now, after which I will do community service for one.” “Where do you want to serve?” I asked out of curiosity. “Youth correctional facility centre,” he answered. After Chris, the next stop for us was Tanner’s. He looked younger than he was before. Maybe it is because of his low cut hair. “Kate, it has been a long time; you look great,” he complimented. I smiled. “How are you doing?” I asked Tanner’s POV Kate was the first person that ever treated me like a human being. It is such a pity that I was a jerk back then. I don’t deserve her. “I am doing great, I have been to therapy. I am healing and working as well.” Kate’s POV I was pleasantly surprised. “That means that

Kate’s POV I was a bit nervous when climbing the podium, but now all my fear seems to have disappeared. The sound of people’s applause was deafening. I smiled, I believe I did well. People were coming up to me for photos and autographs. “What is going on?” I asked myself. I could see Emma among the crowd. He gave me a thumbs up and winked at me. Even though I rejected his proposal one year ago, he has always been there for me. My heart is beginning to open to the idea of marriage. Vin’s POV I and Emily prepared the venue for the dinner. Emily is always meticulous with such things. We booked a restaurant down the alley of Park Avenue. After the anniversary we all moved there. The old gang: Emma, Lynn, Kayla, Kate, Stanley, Dr Amanda, Emily, myself and Eddie who is joining us for the first time. “Welcome back Kate!” we all chorused as she stepped in with Emma. She was still a bit bashful! Emily’s POV

  • KATE   Anniversary

Emma’s POV We chatted with Melissa for a long time. Albert was playing around the house. It is already 3pm, we have to get going for the requiem mass for sheriff Morgan’s anniversary. “Be a good boy and listen to grandma. Mommy have to meet some friends,” she instructed Albert. He nodded and ran off playing with Melissa. As we were exiting the house we could hear him and Melissa playing and laughing. I held Kate tightly with as we entered the car to attend the anniversary. Kate’s POV When we got there, I was really surprised. The whole place was quite different from what it was three years ago. Interesting! As I stepped out of the car, I saw Kayla. She was the first to greet me. The last time I saw her was when they bid me farewell at the airport. “How have you been?” I asked. My eyes immediately went to the flashy ring on her fingers. “Congratulations to you and Eddie!” I could see the bulge that has began to f

  • KATE   Three years plan

Stanley’s POV “What gave you the confidence to defend Chris and Tanner?” I scratched my chin for answers. “ Everyone has the right to be heard. When I heard their stories, it reminded me of the daily struggles of many indigent teenagers.” “Were you pleased with the results?” she asked.I laughed heartily. “Of course. That was one of my most memorable cases ever. It reminded me that once we put hope in people they are bound to reciprocate it with love.” Emma’s POV “How do you feel about being the new Sheriff?” she asked “I feel nervous and excited at the same time.” “What ideals do you want to uphold as the sheriff?” “Security, peace, hope and inclusiveness,” I answered. She asked Kayla, Vin and Lynn different questions from work to their personal lives and what have you. Finally she turned to Kate and asked her, “what is your plan for the future?” We all turned and steadied our eyes on her. “I want to be

  • KATE   Sheriff Morgan's burial

Agent Tom’s POV I wrote to the agency and they gave me a written statement which I submitted to the judges. That was the least I could do for Tanner. As the police were leading him away, he said the three words I have been waiting to hear for the past 19 years: “ I forgive you.” Emma’s POV Today is sheriff Morgan’s burial. We all stood up in our black suit to observe a minute silence for him. All us were sad. But deep down, we are happy that we were able to make Winster county peaceful again. Vin’s POV I was nominated to eulogize the deceased sheriff Morgan. He was like a father figure to me. “For over ten years, he had sleepless nights working night and day to ensure the safety of all in Winster county. I remembered his face each time he remembers his retirement coming up next year June. He would laugh happily and envision the various adventures he will undertake… but we lost him due to inhumanity and despicable

  • KATE   The verdict

Melissa’s POV I have heard what I wanted to hear. I sat still on the chair as they led him back to the cell. Maybe it would have been better, if I didn’t know what happened. I regretted coming to the station. As I was thinking about it, my head became hot. I couldn’t see clearly again. The next time I woke up, I was on my bed. I don’t know how many hours I blanked out. Kate’s POV I chatted with Emma and Kayla for over an hour. We became worried about Melissa. So we went inside, on getting there Vin was already leading Smith away. Melissa collapsed. Emma and Kayla carried to our car. I drove her back. I called her doctor and explained what happened. He came and administered some medications to her. I have been excited the whole evening because tomorrow is Smith’s trial. Many media outlets will be covering the story. Stanley already told me that the judgment is by 10am. I am sure that the whole or at least three-q

Melissa’s POV I initially planned to go alone. But Kate is a welcomed distraction, if not I wouldn’t have obliged. I kept checking my watch, by 9am I left the house. On getting to the station, I have lots of questions in my mind. I saw Kate talking to Emma and Kayla. After sometime, they brought me inside the waiting room. Kate’s POV I explained to Emma that Melissa is not in her right mind. That they should keep watch. So he assigned Vin to oversee the whole incident. I on the other hand joined in Emma and Kayla in the lobby enjoying the early morning summer sun. Smith’s POV I was surprised when I saw Melissa in the waiting room. The way she was looking haggard made me happy. I smiled and sat across her from the table. Her whole facial expressions and the wrinkles on her face gave joy. “How did you meet Max?” she asked me. I didn’t want to answer before, however now that I know I can’t escape, I
