That kiss! Oh my god. I should have grabbed him and pulled him in the car with me and took him home. His lips were so soft and I couldn't help but smile and bring my fingertips to my lips desperately clinging to the feeling.
I was overcome with lust and regret at not taking him home with me when I had a sudden realization. I never got his phone number and he said he would pick me up on Sunday but he has no idea where I live. He may not even text or call. He make the date part of the bet but that didn't mean he was genuinely going to call. I hoped he would.
A few minutes later the Urber pulled up outsid my apartment complex. I thanked the driver and exited the car and made my way up to the apartment never taking my mind off that kiss. I hopped in the shower and got ready for bed. I was just about to fall asleep when I heard the front door open. Alice must be home. From the sound of it Bentley didn't come with her, which was surprising. I thought for sure I'd hear them giggling and then....well...
"Hey Evie," she whispered cracking open my door. "You awake?"
"Sure am doll face," I said. "How was it? Where's Bentley?
"You're never going to believe this. I actually kind of like him like him and thought I'd do the adult thing for once and not sleep with a guy the first night I met him," she giggled. I was surprised. She's always been somewhat of a relationship anarchist, but truth be told she deserves that happiness, we both do.
"So anyway, I was thinking," she said. "What do you say we invite them out to the club tomorrow and get our dance on!" I told her about how Ryan suggested he take me out on Sunday and how I didn't even end up taking his phone number, but she assured me that eithe way she had Bentley's number and we could coordinate something tomorrow.
I'll admit the thought of getting super dolled up and pressing my body against Noah's on a dancefloor was appealing so I said for now, so I agreed.
When I woke up, I checked my phone and saw a text message from a number I didn't recognize.
Hey Eve. This is Ryan. I hope you made it home safe. Still thinking about that kiss 😉
So he was thinking about the kiss too. I replied, Good morning. I did make it home safe and fell asleep shortly after my arrival home. Thanks for the lip service.
His reply was almost instant, Ha! Good morning indeed. What are your plans for the day?
As a matter of fact, when Alice got home, she said she had such a wonderful time with Bentley, that she thought we all should go dancing tonight. You interested?
Sure. We'll pick you up at 8. What's the address?
After texting him back the address, I nearly screamed and ran into Alice's room waking her up.
"Wake up, wake up, WAKE UP!" I said hopping on her bed and crawling under the covers next to her. I could tell she wasn't fully with it but I still told her about my text conversation with Ryan and how he and Bentley were picking us up tonight to go dancing. That make her flood back into her consciousness, she seemed a little hungover and we ordered breakfast to be delivered from one of our favorite little cafes on the other side of town.
Later that afternoon the fun began as we both started to get ready for going out on the town with the boys from last night. We decided to go to an upscale club downtown called Redemption. We spend about three hours getting ready, why I don't know. Probably because we were too busy gossiping and laughing as we were doing our hair and make-up that we were easily distracted.
Ryan and Bentley pulled up outside the complex at 8 o'clock sharp. I do love a man who has the ability to be on time. When we walked outside both of them were standing on the sidewalk waiting for us. Bentley greated Alice with a deep and passionate kiss, I looked away and set my eyes on Ryan. He was even more stunning in the barely lingering daylight.
"Wow! You look amazing," he said grabbing my hand and twirling me around befire he leaned down and kissed me on the cheek. I immediately felt butterflies churning in my stomach. I don't know why he had this effect on me, but I wasn't mad about it either.
He was right. I did look amazing. I was wearing one of my favorite dresses for the club. A black mini dress with a corset detail on the bodice and thin straps along with my favorite black sandles with a modest rectangual heel. I can't do stillettos if I plan on dancing and these look good with every outfit.
Ryan opened the door for me and shut it once I was inside and walked around to the other side and got in the back seat with me. He scooted himself into the middle seat and immediately took my hand and laced his fingers between mine and said again how beautiful he thought I looked. I couldn't help it. I blushed, How embarassing.
The four of us casually talked while Bentley drove us to a parking ramp a couple blocks away from the club. Ryan once again grabbed my hand and interlaced his fingers with mine as we walked down to Redemption. Turning the corner I was quick to realize the line at the door was already down the corner.
I knew this was a popular place, but I had no idea the line would be this long before 9 p.m. I was not in the mood to wait in line for at least an hour. Despite the warm weather, I simply just didn't want to stand outside that long. Call me a brat I don't care.
Luckily Alice had the same thoughts as me because as soon as she registered the long line she said, "Oh hell no, I'm not about to wait in this long ass line. Let's go somewhere else."
Ryan and Bentley both chuckled and Bentley told us not to worry. I wondered what that meant. Ryan gripped my hand a little tighter and confidently led us passed the line and walked us straight up to the front door. I was hard to ignore all of the sighs, grunts, and "what the fuck"s as we made our way to the door.
Ryan nodded his head at the bouncer who nodded back and opened the velvet rope and let us in. Just like that! They must be friends or Ryan and Bentley are known to tip him very well.
"Grab us a table boys, I need Eve's help in the ladies room," Alice quipped as she grabbed my arm and damn near dragged me to the bathroom. "Who the fuck are these guys?" she asked. She was just as stunned as I was.
"I don't know Al. You've talked to Bentley a whole lot more than I've talked to Ryan so I assume you'd know more than me, unless you were too busy sticking your tongues down eachothers throats to actually have a conversation," I said trying to hold back my laughter.
"I mean you're not entirely wrong about that but what if they come here all the time with different women or are in the mob or something?" she said.
"Al, relax. I'm sure they just have some sort of connection with the bouncer. Maybe they're college buddies." I tried to ignore her crazy because I was generally the paranoid and over analytical between the two of us.
After Charlie died I shed my extroverted skin and became a full fledged introvert completely withdrawing myself from everything and everyone. It was the summer after Freshman year of college when the accident happened. Charlie was riding his motorcycle home from work, as he did nearly every night during the summer when someone ran a red light because they were looking at their phone and hit him. After years of begging, pleading and bullying I had finally convinced him to start wearing a helmet, but that day he hadn't worn one and a helmet could have definitely saved his life. Jacob came to see me after the funeral even though we'd been broken up for months at this point but even still he was the only person I wanted to be around. He was the only person who knew Charlie as much as I did. They were best friends. I hardly talk about Charlie anymore. I try not to think about him too often because the pain still feels raw. Once I started to come out of my shell again I became sort of a
I was still breathless and desperate for Ryan to kiss me when I was shaken from my lustful stupor by Alice grabbing my arm "Hey babes! Are ya'll having fun?" she said with a wink.Of course I was having fun. I was seconds away from making out with Ryan before she cut in. I glanced over at her. She had her ass pressed so deep in to Bentley's front side it was a wonder they weren't screwing right there on the dancefloor. I had to admire her enthusiasm and sheer freedom when he came to her sexuality. I liked sex as much as the next girl, but I wasn't as forthecoming with it like Alice was. She jokingly called me a prude sometimes. Alice used her hand to motion for a drink and I nodded my head. I felt like I needed a cold shower, but a cold drink would do. I told Ryan Alice and I were going to go grab a drink. He said he would come with because he needed one too. As we reached the bar I noticed a group of people sitting at the table staring. Particularily the platinum blonde bombshell
I was awakened the next morning by what sounded like someone ransacking our apartment. I thought about searching for a weapon, just in case, when my senses finally came around and I realized I could hear Alice. "Where the fuck is it?" I could hear her say. I begrudgingly got myself out of bed and grabbed my favorite pink, fuzzy robe and exited my room. I could see Alice ripping her room apart and it looked like a tornado had gone through the whole place. "Alice what is going on?" I asked, concerned. She whipped her head around to look at me, I don't think I've ever seen her look so frazzled. "Have you seen my phone or my clutch? I can't find it anywhere and I'm panicking," she said. "Didn't you have it when we got in the car last night?" I asked. She said she couldn't remember. Which was fair...I honestly didn't remember much from last night except that damn Barbie wanna-be and Ryan. They weren't important right now. I told Alice I'd call her phone and we'd figure it out. Alice is getting impatient. I can't tell if she's being annoying on purpose or simply doesn't realize how infuriating the sound of her acrylic nails tapping on the table is. "Eve, baby let's go!" she calls for the umpteenth time. I pull my gaze away from the hallway mirror to tell her I was just fixing my lipstick. This isn't quite the truth, I was scanning every pore, hair folicle, and cell on my face to make sure any imperfections were concealed, hidden or blurred and I looked perfect."You always look put together even when you're ugly crying you manage to look like a super model. Now stop checking ourself out and let's go!" she says."Alright, Alright, Alright. I'm coming!" I say not even trying to hide my annoyance. Even though we've been roomates and best friends for years and she knows all of my quirks inside and out, she still gets pushy with me which often triggers my anxiety but I love her and I am excited to get out of our little apartment and have some fun. I relented. Alice what right. I'd sworn off flirting for too long and she was right, they were hot. We all sat down together and began talking and it was then I was able to take a better look at Ryan and Bentley. They both looked similar but also vastly different. I could tell from Alice's body language that she definitely preferred Bentley, which was fine by me because I defintely found Ryan to be the more attractive of the two. "You two have been making some good money tonight, maybe it should be you thats buying us drinks," Bentley jested with a giant grin stuck to his face.My body immediately tensed. So they had been watching us. I looked at Alice who seemed entirely unbothered. "You wanna play?" she asked. "Sure, but not for money," Ryan said. At that, Alice immediately said to count her out, but I was so enamored with him and wanted any excuse to be around him longer that I asked if he didn't want to play for money, what did he have in mind. His eyes met mine and he held my
