Painful Memories

Arthur's POV

When she asked me that question, I felt like my whole world crumbled again. I did so much to not talk about that incident, but it seemed like she was always trying to bring it.

I always chewed my food, veins appearing on my forehead as I held tightly to the cutlery in my hand.

I got pissed the instant the event flashed back in my head, but then, I couldn't get angry because I knew deep within me that she was innocent.

Iris was innocent and not to be blamed for anything that happened to my parents on that day.

“Arthur?” Her voice called with concern, her eyes staring at me like she didn't know what was wrong with me.

I could see it in her eyes, the way she was looking at me, she wanted to share in my pains, she really wanted to know what happened to my parents.

I sighed, raising my head, so my eyes could gaze into her. “They died a long time ago when Anna and I were still kids.”

She gasped, her brows furrowing as she tried to place the pieces of the puzzle together.
