I sat cross-legged on my sofa, humming melodiously to a song I wrote and composed. It was titled Sounds of Torment and fit into what Raghul was passing through.

He was distressed, and the only way he could relieve himself was by pacing back and forth through the house. Though I was supposed to take things seriously, as he claimed, Raghul makes it harder when he acts like this.

“You know, we should count ourselves lucky that we have a week to figure this out,” I said, trying to at least make him feel relaxed; he was worrying himself too much.

My interference didn’t hold anything as Raghul continued to be paranoid. “We have nothing; we basically have nothing!” He rang it into my ear.

“Watch over Gavin; I am going to go for a nap.” I sighed as I headed to the room.

I locked the door, climbed into bed, and slept off. I was so deep in my sleep that I didn’t realize Raghul had been consistently knocking on the door to say how much I needed it from his constant rambling.

~EVE~ I drove to the location. I had forcefully gotten from Oliver; he didn’t want to give, so I did the impossible. Any way, it is a story for another day and one that he will remember for a lifetime. I pressed on the bell several times for a response and began to doubt the location given when no one came to answer the door. I am going to kill for real this time. “Hello,” suddenly a middle aged woman came up at the front door to answer. I smiled. I lifted my head to see her properly, as my hat covered most of my face. “Hi, Miss Eve Faye, I am Pamela’s very good friend,” I said, and the woman in front of me answered instantly, “Pamela did not have friends; you are at the wrong house.” She slammed the door in my face, leaving me utterly stunned. I didn’t leave; rather, I stood there and became the most annoying, pestering person ever on the godforsaken planet. I rang the bell countless times till I knew she was pissed. “Miss, I will call the police on you if you do not l

~EVE~Modern dayI sat in the back seat of my convertible, right in an insufferable dress that held me to the point of suffocation, my face palmed with frustration.Pamela knocked on the tinted glass window as I rolled it down for her. “Hello everyone,” Pamela greeted with a sharp smile. Looking in my direction, I could see the bizarre look on her face, staring deeply at my black dress and fascinator on my head as the net covered my entire face. She sank in her breath, not hiding her dislike that I was dressed up for a funeral rather than my long awaited book signing. “Eve,” she called with gritted teeth, “You look wonderful; I am sure you are as excited for your book fair as we are.”I was unperturbed by her brightness as I replied in a strained tone, “I am drowning in misery, Pamela; the corset I am wearing is like a bone meant to break through my rib cage; my lungs are screaming and want out; my feet hurt like a bunch of nails piercing me on them, so yay, you can guess I am excite

~E V E~Seeing the happiness on that woman’s face as she held her son tightly made my stomach turn, because as she was relieved that her son was safe, I, on the other hand, was drowning in misery. The police officer, who looked around his mid-twenties and was seemingly proud of his job, carefully examined Gabriel. “Thank you so much, officer, for helping me in search of my son,” Gabriel’s mother thanked him.“Not a problem, ma’am; I am very happy to help.” The officer said with a heartwarming smile, which made me cringe. There is no way he loved his job this much; he was clearly faking it. “I see Gabriel is perfectly alright,” he added.“Alright?” This woman, who has now taken the hand of her daughter again, questioned, She just won’t get off my back, will she? “Miss, I suggest you file a report against this lady here,” she eyed me with spite. “This lady here pushed your son to the ground and made sure he stayed there while mocking him; I saw it happen,” the woman reported.Oh for hea

~E V E~“Are you going to take the step or not?” I asked her as my soul took over my body again, frustrated that she had simply wasted my entire time with that back and forth. “I mean, it is not hard at all; you simply just have to put a step to it,” I demonstrated with my foot for her to see how easy it was. “See, simple, right?” the young girl nodded. “Now turn around and let’s try this again, alright?”The high school girl listened as she turned to take my words into action. I smiled mischievously at how sweet it will be to watch someone actually fall off a building. I always hear of it and come around the scene when it is already late, but now I get to watch it in real time.“Come on, take the step; we are wasting daylight. Hurry up,” I said, pointing towards the sky and how rapidly the sun was fading from it.The girl sniffed, "Wait, aren’t you an adult? Aren’t you supposed to try and stop me?”I groaned as this was heading towards a path that I would hate to see the end result o

I tried moving away from him, but he just wouldn’t budge. “You seem to be in a hurry,” he said before shifting his eyes towards the rooftop I was running away from.I quickly pushed him aside as I ran off, skipping a lot of stairs with the hope that I wouldn’t trip in the process. I almost stopped when he called my name as he chased after me, “Eve, can you stop running?”How did he even know my name? Oh yeah, my name is written on my books, and all of my posters are everywhere.I looked behind me to see how quickly he had closed the gap between us. There was no way I planned on competing at this point; I needed an escape route and one that’s fast.I swallowed hard, accepting that an elevator was my only option; I just had to breathe and hope nobody was on it. ~E V E~I hardly could sleep all through the night as I toiled around the bed. It was hard. All of a sudden, I felt emotions for a girl I had met just because I saw the Inyoka tattoo on her wrist, and I was worried that maybe I had killed her.Calm down, Eve, You haven’t done anything; what are you even saying? It couldn’t have been me; the Inyoka only visited because... why would it visit me exactly if I hadn’t used my powers before then? I need to invoke the spirit before it comes, and I didn’t, nor was I in danger for it to protect me, so why would it visit me?Or have I seen something wrong? No, the tattoo marking was definitely on her wrist; it was clear as day.So what could have caused this because of the way Rachel pleaded? My forehead furrowed as my eyes squinted, thinking deep into this; it was also a personal issue for me.All through the night, the rays of sunlight blasted through my curtain and attacked my eyes. EVEThere was a sudden shift; it was as if the world sped quickly before my eyes and went fast forward. I was back in the plane, sitting beside Raghul; it was just as if all that I had witnessed didn’t just happen.“I don’t think we should be traveling with a baby,” Raghul said beside me as he held Gavin with him.“Mhmm,” I replied, and my face showed a bit of confusion. These days, there are just things I don’t understand anymore.I know I have been warned to be wary but wary of what? The Inyoka herself? I already met her and it didn’t seem like she did much or is it the next Inyoka who has already been born to take over from me?What is even going on?It was very concerning, but then my attention drifted to the announcement that was made on the plane about us making a landing and how they couldn't go on due to bad weather conditions.I looked over at Zach and Mark, who were seated unbothered. Of course, I wasn’t expecting either of them to remember anything, but they were all there,

“Now we are on the same page, we need to discuss on the time we should kiss, I am thinking morning, afternoon and evening, that is if you are down for it,” I said oblivious of how this relationship thing worked, we weren’t in any sort of relationship still.I made him speechless as Zach chuckled at my Innocence, “Do we need days or time to kiss? I believe we can do it anytime, as long as you want it,” he dragged me closer, “Even now,” he said in a whisper.I push him away, “Pleqse be serious, I don’t intend on us being together though I don’t hate the idea, I am simply objecting to it,” I said plainly as I tried to explain for his better understanding.Zach took it with a nod, “No strings attached, you mean?”“Right! We are on the same page,” I reacted and Zach shrugged, “I am fine with whatever you choose,” he said as his smile faded. As we approached the village, almost all of the huts had engulfed in flames.“Where have you two been?” Mark asked immediately he saw us, I left it for

It really rendered us helpless, as she pushed me aside and took Zach from me. “I shall have you at all costs, my love,” Inyoka stated as she again tightened Zach and suppressed him.I was furious and didn’t think properly as I took off the coverings on my hand, found her tattoo again, and placed my hand there.“What are you doing?!” Inyoka panicked as she dropped Zach and held me by my neck. My inyoka was instantly pacified, and it was just me in my normal state fighting for my life, not like I planned to keep it.“Killing you,” I said as I continued to hold on to her tattoo, allowing it to burn deeply even as she tightened her grip on my neck.“Fire,” I said as I sniffed the air.“What?”“Something is burning.”“My people,” Inyoka said as she dropped me down and ran to save them. I quickly went to Zach; he showed a bit of consciousness as I took him with me.“Come on, wake up, you dumbass.” I shook him repeatedly. If we do not escape now, we might just never have that chance again.I

This was a known ritual, and I couldn’t allow it, though I accepted that there was nothing that could be done to stop Zach from being tied around her charm. Inyoka moved around Zach as she surrounded us both. I held Zach's face and said, “Listen to me, you are going to die.” I started off with nothing wrong with being realistic; there was no saving him unless Inyoka had another plan, and as she has taken form, I wouldn’t know exactly what she had planned. “How dare you disrupt me!” Inyoka screamed at me; immediately, she grabbed me by the shoulder and threw me out of the water. I regained my stance, trying my best not to fall. I had simply had enough; it was wrong what she was doing, and now I won’t allow it. Also, I don’t plan on overexerting myself; Zach was a simple human, so this isn’t for him in anyway. “My love,” Inyoka said, trailing her sharp finger on Zach’s body as she tore off what he had on. The crazy part was that she touched him with her bare hands, and nothing hap

I made sure he didn’t.“I have been looking all over for you,” I said, approaching Raghul, who was busy tending to his assigned place.“Well, you haven’t been looking well enough,” Raghul replied as he lifted a sack and placed it over his shoulders.“I have been meaning to tell you something,” I said, bringing me to a glowered stare.“What is it?” Raghul offered a tired tone, like he knew where I might be heading with this.“I came here all excited to tell you some good news. I don’t want you to have that tone with me; it makes me feel like you belittle me. Don’t forget, I am who you serve, not her.” I responded, feeling saddened by what Raghul was reducing me to. We used to be so close, but now he is more distant than ever, and I have become worried over this. Now more than ever.“I am sorry, what is it? Te
