Chapter 2: His Saving

I drop on the floor. My body freezes. I think my arm is ripped and broke from the fall.

Realizing that my rope has slipped from above, I collect myself and did not feel like the pain I am wearing. Instead of complaining, I retrace my track and do it again.

I have no time to wait. I have no time wasting seconds because of this pain. I need to do something. I thought someone has thrown a knife, but it is all in my imagination.

With that, I stand up again. But, to my horror, I see the man who whipped me earlier—watching me with his glaring eyes. I am dead.

“You little punk, why are you so disobedient? Do you really want to get yourself dead?”

He slips the key into the key hole and makes his way inside easily, dropping his keys unconsciously.

“Please, let me go. I do not want to live anymore. I am so tired with this life. Let me kill myself instead!” I beg. But it seems like he has no ears and his hearing is like those old people.

“Why would I do that? You were always the hardheaded one among the group. You tend to cause trouble and I got the punishment for that as your warden. Do you think I’d let you go after you put me in so much pain?” the man asked unbelievably.

It is true. Since I step in this syndicate, I always make a  way to free myself and guide others to do the same. And when I do that, I am always found or my friends’.

He walks fast towards my direction. He grips both of my shoulders and shake me to get myself together. I stare at his eyes and I watch how his eyes sparkle with lust. With the strength left in me, I step back, scared of what he will do to me.

If anything happens to me now, I do not know if I could handle it anymore. My core still aches from earlier. I do not want to get it ripped the second time.

“Hmm…” He moans as his breath barely touched my neck. He cups my nipples and lustfully licks my neck.

He disgusts me.

As soon as his lips try to reach mine, I keep my breathing and waited for them to touch me, but it did not. What happened? I felt his forehead on my left shoulder. He’s not breathing. Did he fall asleep?

My heart quickened when I felt a concentrated liquid on my palm after I touched his back. Blood! Where is this coming from?

I heard gunshots from everywhere. I lift my eyes, roaming what has happen inside the building. I immediately push the man forward, not wanting to hug me anymore. Disgusting! Before anyone else could enter this place, I need to continue my plan.

Throwing the rope upwards, I snake the end of my neck again and is about to kick the chair but a set of pair broad arms embrace my lower part. The man was almost kissing my crotch.

“Get off me!”

“Do you really want to die?” His voice is hoarse and intimidating.

Who is he?

I tremble as he yells at me. His tone is deep and harsh, more like a commanding one. I watch his jaw clench when I glared at him with annoyance. But something in his eyes flicker in a radiant gold.

“Don’t touch me. You disgust me.” I kept fighting with my foot, kicking him away. But he is so strong that I could not lift my foot up.

Before I could utter another word, I found myself on the floor helplessly, glaring at this nosy man. Seeing him and how he exudes his dominance, I know he is not an ordinary person. I feel his grip tightens as he did not look away.

“Get your back off. I don’t need your help!” I yell back, but my voice cracks in between my words.

“Stay still, you impudent brat,” he nag. He called loudly, “Andrius!”

I know he heard me. That is why he holds me even tighter, assuring me that he is not bad guy like how I imagined him to be. But who is he deceiving at? I have met more people than he knows. I know what they are thinking and what all their intentions are. All I met has bad intentions towards me. And he is not an exemption if I am being cautious of my self.

“Alpha, Samael has escaped. They took the exit door,” a charming man with the same vibe and dominance reports heavily. And I saw the same in his eyes. But his are plain and unattractive.

What are all these people? Do they have contact lenses with them?

The man in front of me whom he calls alpha snaps furiously. “Shit. Shit. This is because of you. You are so bullheaded. If you only follow me right away, I could have catch him.”

Andrius fishes for his pocket knife and throws it on the rope. I was expecting that I'd be dropped but I stumbled upon the broad chest, my lips onto his, tasting and smelling his velvety and sweet lips. It tastes like mayonaisse I despise but my tongue liked it.

His eyes grow big, which makes me shiver. He pushes me away as if I have virus, which makes me drop on the rough floor. I wince in pain.

“Ouch!” I complain. “Why did you drop me?”

The man stands up, looking so annoyed and angry. If being angry is the highest form of madness, then I could not name the look he is giving me.

“Why did you kiss me? What do you think of your lips? Did you even brush yours before it lands on mine? You are annoyingly disgusting.”

The man spats and wipes his lips a million times.

While I was recovering from the pain I felt, I try correcting him. “It is not my intention. I fell. It is your colleague whom you should nag.”

He glares at Andrius, who is now bowing his head.

“I am sorry, alpha. I did not expect it to happen. The only thing in my mind at that moment was to save this man from his own death. I apologize for my mistake.”

Why are they so formal? Who is this man really? Alpha? Where did I hear that name before?

I drag my body on the floor after I gain some strength.

I did not know what happens next. But I find myself with him, walking behind him, trying to get to his fast pace as we run off from the cell. I heard him giving orders to his people and mentions my other friends here. With us is the man whom he calls Andrius and three other more people.

As soon as we got out of the building, my eyes screws at the daylight. After three days of being in jail, I am not able to get to work. I mean pickpocketing and extorting money from people.

“Alpha, Samael have left everyone here except for one,” Andrius spoke with the person we are with. Was that his name? Alpha?

I glance at the man and turn away when he meets my orbs. My eyes are asking for Andrius, whom he refers to, but he shuts his mouth closed.

“Wait. Who did Samael bring to his escape?” I ask curiously.

My heart pounds fast as no one answered my question. However, my question was only answered by their silence. It is not Riley, right?

His people block my way as I was about to enter the back of the abandoned building alone. I need to see Riley. He shouldn’t be with that old rotten bastard. If only this nosy man didn’t get in the way.

“Let me in, please. I need to get Riley. I promise I will be back. I will not run away. I just need to make sure he’s safe,” I begged. But his people waited for his decision. Why would these people be so loyal to him?

I know I’ve heard the alpha word before. When a thought comes back to life, I mutter to myself, “Could he be? The alpha. The heartless alpha who kills out of boredom?”

His commanding voice resonated in my ears again.

“Did you not hear anything? Samael left with your friend. You should know this beforehand. Samael is a frightening man and you don’t know him much?”

I turned my gaze to him. “That’s why I need to go back there and confirm if it’s true. How can I believe you? I don’t even know you. And you’re the alpha, right?”

My voice screamed disgust and I knew he understood what I meant when his face grimaced.

“Riley is with him, Elias. You’re the reason why he’s with that demon.” Andrew put his finger towards my chest, which caused me to step backwards. “Only if you did not bring him into that mess, he would have been there instead of you. How dare you act like a hero in front of everyone? Without Riley, you are merely no one.”

His words course through my system. Riley was a brother to me and he knew that I loved him more than that. My feelings for him are as clear as the blue sky. And Samael unfortunately knew that.

He had knowledge of how important Riley is to me. That’s why he purposely chose him to hurt me even more. This is my fault. If only I hadn’t been too obvious, he would’ve been there.

A loud thud woke me up from overthinking. I saw Andrew fly meters away from us as the man with a golden flicker in his eyes balled his fist. I was surprised. Andrew winced at the sudden pain he felt in his back.

I did not know what made him do that, but Andrius stopped him from causing Andrew a big blow.

Andrew, on the other hand, was on his feet begging the man in front of him to spare him. A small amount of blood dripping on the corner of his lips. He trembled when the alpha stepped forward toward his direction. I knew right. This man is not far from how Samael is.

“Alpha, I think that’s enough!” Andrius made sure Apollo wouldn’t get himself at Andrew. “He’s watching you,” he whispered.

It was not clear what had happened between them, but I just know that Apollo, as Andrius called him, was pissed. He came to his senses when his eyes found mine and momentarily stopped. And the familiar flicker disappears. He manfully strides towards me, exuding too much confidence and dominance… I did not like it.

But I hear something. What was that exactly? I busily roam around and looking for it even though I’m having a hard time concentrating. My body has ached up until now. It did nott even vanish, even a small amount of searing pain.

Without them looking, I ran inside the building and saw Riley. I know they aren’t far yet because it has been minutes since the alpha came. I tried looking from room to room and called Riley’s name. I hope he’s still here.

However, as I got closer to the exit, I heard a continuous ringing that resonated in my ears. It was foreign to me but it is clear that I knew that thing. I looked for it. I threw the plywood, metals for construction, and other stuff my eyes set on. Until my eyes found a square piece, full of wiring and it beeping faster than ever.

When I looked at my back, Andrius and Apollo ran towards me. Apollo looked so sporty and gorgeous as his legs were alternating. It was toned and muscled, judging from the pants he wore.

Shrugging the thoughts off, I read: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

“Don’t come near here. Run! Run!”

I shouted as loudly as I could. I could feel my throat hurt from shouting. It hurts like hell, but I did not mind. All I think is to save everybody from the ticking bomb.

I saw Apollo’s forehead crease at me while running. He stopped. I thought he was mad but when I ran away to meet them halfway, he raced towards me too fast for human speed and flipped, dropping me under him.

“Are you okay?” he asked in between our heavy breathes. I felt his palm on top of my head.

A loud explosion reached our ears and I heard a continuous ringing I never experienced before. It hurts that I need to scream loudly and cover my ears in annoyance.

I heard Apollo grunt and saw his face crinkled in pain. He groaned as Andrius helped us to stand up, but another explosion was heard, leaving the second floor falling. It did not register in my mind what had happened next, but Apollo asked me to stand up.

As we walked away, Apollo had to drag his foot after getting hit by the shards of cemented roof. I was about to point it out, however, another explosion blew our minds in a whirlwind. They threw ourselves outside the building, and the last thing I hear is utterly unbelievable.

“Move everyone. I’ll kill you all if he’s in danger!”

Chapter 3: The Recognition I wake up in a huge room I am not familiar with. The room is in plain black and the furniture are not only expensive at first sight, but also expensively organize and pleasing to the eyes. A long black settee, a king-sized bed, and a man firmly standing by the window. His upper body was naked, helping the blinds block the sun creeping in. My body stiffens at the realization. I immediately sit up and knelt down on the cold marble floor, slightly bow down. I was not supposed to be in bed. I was prohibited to even touch the mattress. After the realization, I was like a demon from hell who had been showered with holy water. I quickly got up and apologize for my intrusion. But, on the other side of my mind, I had to lift my eyes. His upper body is muscled and toned. Seeing him this closely with a clear mind, I felt that I had known him before. Not in the abandoned underground building, not anywhere else. It is as if my heart recognized the alpha of the town.

Chapter 6: The Signs “What? What do you mean Isabelle is here?” Shahida’s voice echoed in her highly soundproof room after I told her that Isabelle came today. She could not contain her anger towards the situation because of a reason I was not aware of. This woman have so much hatred on her plate. It seems like she was born with anger. “Isn’t it amazing that the alpha’s wife have come home? I mean, she could be of help with the alpha here,” I asked curiously. The alpha and his wife should be together in handling the town as the wife provides emotional and physical support. It is only in Northcrest that the two seemed like have different perspectives on this matter. And even Shahida herself looked so done. She does not want Lady Isabelle here. It is certain. And she is not sugarcoating her treatment towards her sister in law. Other packs’ alpha and respective mates are together in the battle of life and death. I heard a clicking of the spoon against the mug. “Do you know why I did that?” she spoke, emphasizing each word she uttered. “If it is about the cockroaches, Lady Isabelle, it was not me. I slept last night without knowing where your room is. I spent the night at Shahida’s and did not leave there until dawn. I am telling the truth.” “How dare you lie in front of the alpha’s wife?” She raised her voice impeccably, her veins popping on her fair neck. Never did cross my mind that the refine young woman in front of me could be this cruel. Shahida must be right. She is not the person whom everyone meet every day. Lady Isabelle must have misunderstood me being with the alpha that night. Perhaps, that was the reason she bursted out and not the cockroaches. But, I wan
