“You dare lay your dirty hands on my sister? Why?” Alpha barked at Mark, who was resting his back on the cabinet, nursing the pain from his nose.

“ My lord, I'm sorry, but she is not your sister,” Mark tried to explain provokingly.

While Layla remained in Alpha's hands, he left her and walked to his cook. The fact that he saw a part of Layla's skin turned crimson from Mark's grip made him Infuriated.

“ Now, listen to me, Mark. Let this be the last time you try to mess with my sister. I don't expect such an ugly reaction from you." Alpha’s eyes burned at Mark.

" My lord, I know you won't believe me but the lady is not your sister. Please ask her who she is. She is a spy.” Mark made more attempts to explain, but his efforts hit a dead horse.

While the fuss was ongoing, Layla couldn't remove her eyes from Alpha.

The rumors about him were true indeed. She looked at his monolid eyes and her heart dropped in speed.

His height, his chest, those eyes, and his handsome face, everything made Layla’s body shudder.

This was Layla's first time meeting with the great king that hath lived

For decades, escaping the snare of Lord Duncan and all his enemies.

Alpha’s handsome face made Layla begin to feel a certain way. No doubt, she looked possessed by him already.

With lips parted in awe, Layla couldn't take her focus away from Alpha.

While lost in her world of imagination, she felt Alpha's strong hands around her hand pulling her with him.

“ Let's leave, Mia," Alpha said, dragging Layla with him.

Mark stood numb, looking at Alpha as he pulled the stranger with him, thinking she was Mia.

All of Mark's efforts to prove to Alpha that Layla wasn't Mia proved abortive, and he had to give up fighting.

Some moments after, Alpha and Layla arrived in Alpha's chambers, and he hugged her, trying to ease her pain.

“ Why did you come without informing me? This is unlike you, Mia." He separated from Layla, walked to the side of the wardrobe, and removed his gold wristwatch from his hands.

“ I'm sorry I didn't inform you of my coming,  I wanted to surprise you "

Layla replied facetiously but accurately like Mia would do.

Suddenly, Alpha’s ambiance changed. He walked back to Layla and cupped her cheeks, scanning deep into her eyes.

This frightened Layla. She hoped Alpha wouldn't figure out that she was not Mia with the way he was glaring studiously at her.

Then, Alpha let go of her cheeks and he said in a friendly tone, “ Come on, Mia. Why would you want to surprise me? Don't you think you're acting a bit strange? You know I didn't like people barging Into me. I hate surprises, don't you remember?” He pierced a cold gaze at Layla as if he knew who she truly was.

Frightened, Layla nodded but managed to hide her fears with a notable smile.

“ I Know who you are, brother. You hated surprises back then when our parents were still alive, but today, I intentionally showed up to see you. It's been a while, and I missed my handsome brother," Layla's voice thrilled in pretense.

Each time she spoke to Alpha, it looked like something was speaking through her, but when she looked deep into his eyes, her confusion grew.

When Alpha stood facing Layla, he scanned her from head down. She was Mia but what came over Mark? Why did he suddenly say Mia was a spy?

“ Why did you come? “ Alpha asked after his heart told him that Mark was not in his right frame of mind.

Fidgeting, Layla replied, “ Just to visit you. I missed you." Her eyes locked into his, pooling with something she couldn't define as his presence ignited a spark in her.

“ That's a lie, Mia. You and I know you don't just visit except you need something from me"  he reminded, his eyes glued to Layla's.

Putting on a sad face, Layla ran into Alpha’s hands. This was the first step in her mission.

" Please, I want some days with you. My childlessness is causing my mate, Alpha Liam Woodstood to begin to maltreat me. He’s transformed into someone else entirely,” Layla Continued, making a pitiful face, gently caressing Alpha's back, trying to set him In the mood.

Hearing the heartbreaking news, Alpha plants a kiss on  Layla’s forehead.

“ Stay with me. Don't go back to your pack for now, okay?" Alpha said while they remained in each other's warmth.

Something was different as their bodies entwined. It seems they were breaking a certain boundary.

Layla could feel Alpha's chest beating fast in her chest. She could feel Alpha's worries on her chest, but their closeness brought him comfort.

Alpha wrapped his hands around Layla’s waist, forgetting she was supposed to be Mia, his sister.

However, a sudden knock came on the door, interrupting the unexplained thing going on in their heart and they quickly let go of each other.

“ I’ll get the door," he said, walking to the door feeling a bit embarrassed about something, some lewd things he was imagining in his heart. Damnit.

When he got to the door, he opened it without asking who it was and found Isabella standing by the door.

" My lord, “ Isabella bowed " Your meal Is ready”

" You can leave. I’ll be there in a few minutes,” he replied coldly and shut the door.

He hated the way he was feeling. He has never experienced things like that in his life.

Why was his heart thumping fast when he held his sister in his hands? What Is happening to him? Alpha cannot bring himself down to saying the word ‘Love’. He hates it. It was just too heavy on his lips to pronounce. After all, he can't love his sister in that way.

“ Alpha Tyrrell." He heard Layla's voice, and he slowly turned from the door to her.

“ Is anything the matter? You looked worried. Is everything okay? Please tell me, " Layla began, Walking towards Alpha.

Her mission has begun today. The mission was to seduce Alpha Tyrrell, make him reveal his secret of longevity to her, and bring the secret to her master, lord Duncan.

Although inexperienced in things that pertain to men, Layla, with those lustrous eyes, walked to Alpha, swaying her hips from side to side.

When Alpha saw Layla looking ravaged, he tried as much to avoid looking at her. Why was she acting that way?

“ I think you should leave for dinner now. I will join you at the dining table. I need to freshen up"  he tried to dismiss. He was becoming miserable and frustrated inside about his sister.

“ It's okay. Please help me with my necklace. I have been struggling with it" Layla stood close, virtually pressing her chest on Alpha. She wanted him to feel her firm mammalian glands but he parted a mile from her.

Without a choice,  Alpha ran his hands on Layla’s neck, pulling the necklace. Immediately he was done, he handed it to her and disappeared to the bathroom.

With the help of the six-edged mirror, Layla had been informed that Alpha doesn't look or fall cheaply for women. She doubted if he would look in her direction anytime.

To make matters worse,  she was informed that he had decided to remain mateless forever.

Trying to seduce him will even warrant suspiciousness. It was Mia. How does she succeed in seducing her supposed brother?

She got to her room and collapsed on the bed, thinking hard before going to the bathroom.

After showering, she left the room to the dining room, hoping to find Alpha Tyrrell sitting already.

It was so horrible the way she felt inside of her. She can't explain those feelings, but one thing she knows is that her days are remaining twenty and nine days for the task.

As she sat for dinner, she glared around but couldn't find Alpha in the living room, so she hurried to his room upstairs.

As Layla lifted every foot in fear to Alphas chambers. She kept planning what she would do to bring Alpha close to her in a way that he wouldn't suspect a thing. She couldn't just kiss him or grope him about. It was abominable to do that to her supposed brother, as she claimed.

Flushed with confusion, Layla got to Alpha’s chambers, and without ringing the doorbell, she pushed the door and walked inside.

Alpha was in the bathroom taking his shower. Unknown to him, Layla was Inside his room already.

After the long, endless bath, he walked, tired and completely naked, without even a towel on.

Clueless, he raised his face, and his eyes caught with that of Layla staring lustfully at him, With what seemed like a shocking expression on her face.

Without making any attempt to cover his nude from the ravishing eyes of his sister, Alpha Continued staring at Layla, with a certain feeling growing rapidly and uncontrollably inside of him like a strong desire for lovemaking.

He was beginning to love his sister and this was unlike him.

"Stopped you from what? Saving what's left of us?"Layla huffed out an angry laugh as she ran her hand through her hair. " They are out there."Layla did not need Tyrrell to tell her that. She could feel it- the weight in the air, thick with expectation. The enemy forces had moved like murk in the night, girding the fort with ruthless perfection. Now they were staying, watching, tensing the mesh. She stood at the edge of the stone wall, surveying the treeline beyond the open field. The torches lining their defenses flitted, their light slightly pushing back the darkness." How numerous?" she asked, voice low.Tyrrell exhaled through his nose, his expression grim." further than we can count from over then. They have cut off every possible escape route. " You should not be then." Layla's voice was a whip of sword, slicing through the night. The firelight danced across her face as she goggled at the figure standing just beyond its light. The people behind her were tense, ready to attack at her word, but she raised a hand, averting them. This was n't an ordinary enemy. The man before her took a slow step forward, his movements deliberate, as if testing the weight of her words. His dark eyes glistered with something undecipherable, something Layla did n’t trust.“ I came to talk, ” he said, voice smooth, calm. Too calm. “ That is, unless you’d rather continue this war alone. ”Besides her, Tyrrell shifted, fingers twitching on his belt to where his gun rested." You anticipate us to believe you came then just to sputter, Cassius?" His voice had a healthy quantum of doubt trickling from it.Cassius scowled and crossed his arms over his casket." What can I say? " Move out, now!" Layla's voice cut through the pressure in the camp, sharp and commanding, like a cutter. Her eyes darted over her pack, surveying the faces of those who had gathered. Every one of them stood ready, but she could feel the unease in the air. There was no turning back now.Eerily silent, the camp fell as they came together, importing the storm above them that hung in the air. Everyone knew what was to be gained and lost. Every wolf, every fighter, understood the risk. But there was no fear. Not yet. Layla refused to let in the fear. Not today." Ready?" she rumoured, her voice low but indeed. She scrutinized around, again coming to rest on the figure that stood beside her- Jace deposited himself at her side, was formerly holding his armament, his eyes sharp and focused." Ready as we'll ever be," Jace said, slightly above a murmur in the still air." They are coming. Got to move out."In one nippy stir, Layla gave the order, and the pack surged forward. " You ready?" Jace's voice was low, the question carrying an edge to it that had not been there ahead. It was the kind of question you ask when you know the answer is everything.Layla did not say anything right down. She dragged on the strips of her gear, and her fritters squeezed tight around the hilt of the brand hanging at her side. She felt its weight all the weight, really, of everything that had brought them to this point every decision, every fight, every defeat leading up to now. And the storm was about to hit.Just get this over with," she murmured, further to herself than to Jace. But he heard it, and the nod he gave her was slightly distinguishable. He knew what she was allowing, perhaps indeed better than she did. They were standing in the camp, the fire fluttering low, the air thick with tension. "Where is he?"Layla's voice cut into the thick, heavy silence like a blade that had been whetted by the weight it carried within this war room. The room itself was dark-the only light an occasional flickering from the low-burning fire, dancing in shadows across old stone walls.
