That evening, Layla Mark found herself in WolfHaven Pack, and she froze, veering and glaring around. Maybe she was teleported from Dacin Castle or something. Everything just looked strange In her eyes.
For her mission to be successful, she had to come equipped and in the reincarnation of a sister of Alpha who was mated to another Alpha In another pack.
Her name is Mia. She is tall, slender, and beautiful like a goddess. In order to make Layla’s mission successful, she was handed a six-edged mirror which is capable of revealing Alpha Tyrrell’s past secret.
The mirror was also designed by a powerful mage to reveal every answer that Alpha Tyrrell would ask Layla. In that way, there won't be any mistakes or any suspiciousness from Alpha or the werewolves.
Layla glared at her newly transformed body and smiled to herself. She was now Mia and no longer Layla.
A cool breeze blew her as she stood at a spot admiring the pack. Its magnificence was inexplicable.
The vampire’s camp was nothing compared to the werewolves’ packs. In all of Layla's twenty years of existence on earth, she had never seen such a beautiful place with elegant buildings.
As she kept turning around to admire the pack, she carelessly stepped on someone’s foot.
“ Oh, my goodness. My lady, when did you arrive at the pack?" A friendly female voice pierced into Layla's ears.
“ W– Who are you? Layla asked, glaring at the beautiful lady of about Twenty-five years of age, smiling before her.
The lady winced before grabbing Layla's hands in excitement.
“ My lady, it is me, Ella. I served in your brother's mansion as his maid. Did you forget me so soon?" She persisted, causing Layla, who was on a secret mission, to feel a flush of uneasiness.
“ Oh, sorry. I lost my memory of you, Ella” she chuckled, having a double thought in her mind. The mission she was sent to was a tactical one. She would get killed by Lord Duncan after thirty days of failing to deliver Alpha Tyrrell to him.
However, Layla is completely oblivious as to who Alpha Tyrrell is. Back in the vampire camp, they kept making her believe that Alpha Tyrrell was a dreaded person who ruled his pack with eminence and wisdom. It was also rumored that Alpha Tyrrell was the most handsome man on earth but didn't have a mate, as the case may be.
Pondering hard on these things, Layla is daring to meet with that great Alpha whom none of the vampires could conquer.
Beating her chest, she muttered loudly “ I’ll conquer you”
" What did you say? Were you referring to me?” Ella asked, thinking Layla was talking to her.
“ Not you" She chuckled and suddenly darkened her face.
Seeing Layla in Mia’s incarnation, Ella believed She was Mia. Then, she helped Layla with her bags, and they proceeded to the mission.
Getting to the gigantic mission, Ella showed Layla her room and since Alpha was out on a trip, Layla had to occupy Mia’s room till Alpha returned.
The next morning, Layla woke up and stretched her hands and legs. Her hopes of meeting Alpha Tyrrell will finally come true today.
From yesterday, she had gotten the information that Alpha Tyrrell would be arriving In the pack. No doubt, Layla's mind had never been this fearful since hearing about Alpha from the vampires. She can't wait to see him.
How can only one man cause two hundred thousand vampires to flinch at the mention of his name?
The clock was already ticking very fast. Lord Duncan had given Layla thirty days to seduce Alpha. This would be the quickest way for lord Duncan to eliminate Alpha.
In being committed to this task, Layla had pledged her loyalty to Lord Duncan and the Vampires never to betray them but to ensure the delivery of Alpha Tyrrell into their hands.
Layla knew the consequences of breaking this agreement. She had written the punishment out, meditating on them daily so she wouldn't get carried away in the mansion and bring death to herself.
As the sun became hotter, Layla changed from her sleeping wear into a more decent but attractive outfit and dashed out downstairs.
She was a stranger who knew no one in the pack but Since she was Mia, everyone welcomed her warmly in the mansion.
Isabella, one of the maids who was assisting Cassandra in tidying the living room, saw Layla coming downstairs and was shocked.
“ My lady" Isabella walked up to Layla and bowed. " When did you arrive from your pack? I did know you were around,” Isabella said, holding a beautiful smile on her face.
With the help of the small six-edged mirrors, Layla hid inside her gown, she was able to relate with Isabella as Mia would do.
" I arrived yesterday. How have you been darling?" Layla hugged Isabella. The mirror had already instructed Layla on how to act as Mia. She was able to relate well, having everyone's information In the mansion.
Later, Isabella and Layla walked to the kitchen to assist Mark and Cassandra in the cooking. Alpha was returning to the mansion today, and everything had to be put in place, the food inclusive.
While In the kitchen, Isabella and Layla Continued chatting and laughing like they’d known each other before.
Soon, the door burst open, and the cook, Mark, walked inside the kitchen.
Immediately, Mark saw Layla in the kitchen, something unusual left his body. He couldn't explain it, but it was not a good sign.
“ Hello, Mark," Isabella greeted Mark before turning to Layla, “ Did you remember Mark, the cook?" Isabella asked Layla.
Layla without turning to look Mark In the face replied" Yes”
This amazed Mark. He was confused. Deep down, he was struggling with believing that Layla was Mia, Alpha Tyrrell’s sister.
" Welcome, my lady,” Mark replied amid the struggle inside of him. A part of him was telling him to confront Layla.
Mark had special powers like Isabella too. He could hear from the spirits but did not have the power to become invisible like Isabella.
“ How have you been doing, Mark? I heard you’ve been feeding the whole house with amazing dishes," Layla repeated Mia’s exact words to Mark.
Confused, Mark gave an uneasy smile and walked to get the broccolis ready for preparation.
About a moment later, Alpha arrived back in the pack.
While the guards walked Alpha from the gate to the main building, he began to perceive something in the air. He could feel the presence of a stranger in the Pack.
“ Did anyone visit the pack in my absence?" Alpha turned to Nat, his special guard.
“ Yes, my lord," Nat replied as he walked Alpha inside.
" Who's she? Alpha replied premeditatively without missing words.
Nat, Alpha’s right-hand man, was surprised how Alpha got to know that it was a lady who visited the mansion.
“ She's your sister, Mia," Nat replied.
Alpha did not expect Mia to visit the mansion without informing him at hand. He was pretty vexed but did not say anything else to Nat and the guards with him.
They were yet to get to the main building when they began to hear a disrupting noise from inside.
“What could the noise in the building be for?” Alpha tightened his cold but handsome face. Everyone knew how dreaded Alpha was. He doesn't have the time to laugh with anyone in the pack.
“ I will just find it out. My lord,” Nat tried moving, but Alpha stopped him.
“ Stay back. I will find it out myself" Alpha stomped inside the mansion as the uproar continued.
He noticed the noise was coming from the kitchen, and without hesitation, he asked Nat and the other guards to remain in the living room while he found out what the fuss in the kitchen was all about.
Back inside the kitchen, Mark seized Layla's hands, insisting she didn't leave until she revealed her mission in the pack.
“ Let me go." Layla struggled in Mark’s hands, but he gripped her hands tighter.
“I won't let you go until you tell me your mission in the pack. You're not Alpha's sister. So, who sent you here?" Mark barked, sweat dripping from his body.
He was ready to shift into his wolf and devour Layla but since Alpha was returning from his trip today, he thought it right to chain Layla and let Alpha see the enemy that had sneaked into the pack.
Layla suddenly became powerless, yet she tried not to reveal her true identity to Mark. That was suicidal.
Enduring Mark’s furious grip, Layla's eyes welled up in tears. Crying was all she could do to prove to Mark that she was not a spy, but Mark kept tormenting her.
Just then, the door burst open, and Alpha walked inside in a fret of anger.
He caught Mark strangling his only sister, Mia.
Without asking questions, Alpha landed Mark a straight, heavy blow on the face and then dragged Layla out of Mark’s grip.
Raising his face to Layla, the lady who had the body and the face of Mia, Alpha pulled her close and hugged her.
Unbeknownst to him, the person he thought was his sister was just an enemy sent to hurt his life. She was that enemy he once perceived her presence. Now, let the game begin.
“You dare lay your dirty hands on my sister? Why?” Alpha barked at Mark, who was resting his back on the cabinet, nursing the pain from his nose. “ My lord, I'm sorry, but she is not your sister,” Mark tried to explain provokingly. While Layla remained in Alpha's hands, he left her and walked to his cook. The fact that he saw a part of Layla's skin turned crimson from Mark's grip made him Infuriated.“ Now, listen to me, Mark. Let this be the last time you try to mess with my sister. I don't expect such an ugly reaction from you." Alpha’s eyes burned at Mark." My lord, I know you won't believe me but the lady is not your sister. Please ask her who she is. She is a spy.” Mark made more attempts to explain, but his efforts hit a dead horse. While the fuss was ongoing, Layla couldn't remove her eyes from Alpha. The rumors about him were true indeed. She looked at his monolid eyes and her heart dropped in speed. His height, his chest, those eyes, and his handsome face, everything mad
Layla raced out of Alpha's chambers, panting like some wild bear who had seen an enemy. She rubbed her eyes rashly, trying to erase the things she saw from her memory but they kept resurfacing regardless.Alpha's flawless bare body was causing commotion in Layla's mind. She has never seen the nude of any man. Alpha was her first. How mesmerizing her head has become after having a clear view of what Alpha looked like. He was manly down there. Every part of him was sculpted to perfection. When Layla got to the dining table, she opened her meal, ate a little potion of mashed potatoes, and dashed back to her room. She was sure Alpha would come looking for her after she barged into him unannounced. While in the room, her heart continued to throb rapidly in her chest. Everything she had seen earlier was suddenly causing a strong desire In her.She pressed her chest and even covered her eyes most of the time, but those images of Alpha kept playing In her imagination, suffocating her. After the short kiss, Layla became completely defrosted. She couldn't judge the reason for the kiss. While Layla and Alpha remained close, inhaling each other's breath, Layla abruptly turned, attempting to leave, but Alpha gripped her and gave her another kiss. The short kiss ended, and he said,” Isn't this what you have ever desired, to seduce me?" His questions shook Layla to death. She pushed away from him, puzzled. How did he know that she was here to seduce him? She was the reincarnation of Mia, his sister. Did he find out she wasn't Mia?Lost and breathing unnoticeably fast, she clenched her sweaty hands in her gown. “ I never wanted to seduce you. You're my brother. I mean, how can I possibly do that?” She tried to defend herself, but her voice diminished, making Alpha's claims about her, right.“ You're on a mission. Who sent you here?" Alpha asked without looking at her." Mission? “ Layla asked, dumbfounded. How Alpha bombarded her with questions made her flutter. How did h
Twenty hours later, Layla opened her eyes faintly and couldn't recognize where she was. She wanted to sit upright, but her eyesight was hazy from the slap of the last time. “ Are you alright?" A syrupy female voice pierced into Layla's ears. Layla’s eyes rolled, scanning the strange place. Has she been to a place like this before? Her eyes kept darting around in confusion. “ Where am I and who are you?" Layla asked, her voice and her eyes looking sick. “ It's me, Isabella, and you are In Alpha’s mansion," Isabella explained with love. This rang a bell in Layla’s head. “ Alpha’s mansion?" She muttered before Sitting up from the bed she lay.” Alpha did not put me away from the pack?" She asked, knowing the gravity of her offense. Isabella smiled, “ No my dear. Alpha asked us to take care of you till you are strong. And by the way, you look so beautiful" Isabella’s compliment forced Layla to check herself out.Earlier in the woods, she collapsed without knowing what happened to her,
Days turned weeks with each day bringing peace and tranquility to WolfHaven Pack. And then, the surprise. Rumors have been flying in the air about Layla and Alpha having a secret love affair. Many fought to disagree with the rumors, while a few others even discarded the rumors and trashed them. To them, Alpha can never be mated with any lady in the pack. He had existed all his lifetime being mateless, and no one saw this coming. In the mansion that day, however, every maid and guard busied themselves with one task or the other except for Layla, whom no one could ascertain what was happening between herself and Alpha Tyrrell. Neither Alpha nor Layla had come out plain to tell anyone what was going on between them. It's been seven days now, but to Layla, who is distracted from her mission, this was just the beginning of her task. She lay in the maid's room, sleeping peacefully like a queen among her maids. Despite the rumors about her secret affair with Alpha Tyrrell, she ignored a
The wind blew furiously that day, hoisting debris and everything liftable up to the sky.Dark clouds spread their wings across the earth, announcing to the werewolves how turbulent the night may become.Although it was just a few minutes past 6 pm, darkness clouded the sky, refusing to give the earth a glint of its natural light. Everywhere was utterly dark.Amid the furious wind, however, Alpha Tyrrell and his mate lay in his elegant chambers, whispering sweet words to each other In their naked bodies that were wrapped with just the quilt on the bed. No doubt, they both were enjoying themselves and didn't mind the furious wind outside even if the noise would warrant disturbance.Alpha glancing at Layla, Alpha flung the quilt obscuring their nude away. He looks satisfied but wants more. “ You’re so beautiful. I’d have regretted losing you.” His alluring, monolid eyes sparkled with affection.Layla, shy, hid her eyes from Alpha most of the time. It was her first experience, and from
Alpha Tyrrell's interruption caused the creature in his chambers to disappear into thin air, so he couldn't get a vivid picture of what it looked like.In the description, Alpha could call the creature a beast but with a hawk head and sharp, dangerous claws, with two horrible wings by his side. But what could that be and what was Layla negotiating with such a horrifying creature?Layla was lying on the floor like she fainted or something, but Alpha heard her say something like ‘I'm sorry’ before she collapsed on the floor. “ Layla! Are you okay?" He ran to her, carrying her from the floor. Her eyes were weak with a scorching heat coming from her body. Her temperature was above normal.“Talk to me, my love. What happened to you" Fear gripped Alpha. His heart was racing In his chest as Layla couldn't speak any longer. He has never been this fearful all his life. The pain of seeing Layla hurt sent adrenaline flowing all over his body." Please speak to me, my love. Why are you not sayi
Sound wine glasses filled the air. The living room was quite busy and crowded with both old and young wolves of the pack who came to celebrate Alpha's happy day with him.Recently, Alpha has been thinking of a possible way to make Layla happy.. To him, she doesn't trust him enough to believe he would protect and shield her from harm.Today however marked the third week Layla had lived in The mansion with him. Apart from just being a mate and a companion, Layla’s stay in the mansion has benefited Alpha and his pack In many ways.Currently, the war between WolfHaven Pack and their neighbors, Blood moon Pack just ended without more killings aside Alpha Damien's two men that were killed during the feud. With Layla's strategic advice, WolfHaven Pack has grown business wise. All of these sweet things put together, made Alpha love Layla the most and decided to celebrate her presence In his life.As soft music played, Isabella, Ella and Cassandra led Layla to the stage In the living room. She
"You should've stopped me."Layla's voice pierced the silence of the war room, as sharp as the blade she had just driven into the wooden table. The candlelight danced, casting long shadows across the stone walls, but neither she nor Tyrrell paid it any mind.Tyrrell stood across from her, arms folded, his expression unreadable. "Stopped you from what? Saving what's left of us?"Layla huffed out an angry laugh as she ran her hand through her hair. "No, for making the damned decision in the first place-for sending Samira on that mission, for allowing myself to dream we had something of a possibility to win in this."Tyrrell's jaw clenched. "She knew the risk.""Don't." Layla pointed a shaking finger at Tyrrell. "Don't even dare act as if that does make it easy.Tyrrell let out a slow breath, the weight of the night bearing down on him. "You think I don't feel it? You think I don't hear her screaming in my head every time I close my damn eyes?"Layla's fists clenched. "Then why do you ke
"You sure about this?"Tyrrell looked up from his blade, running a cloth over its edge one last time. Elias was across from him, arms crossed, brows furrowed. The flickering torchlight in the room lent gravity to the tension between them."We don't have a choice," Tyrrell muttered, sliding the dagger into his belt.Elias let out a slow breath, shaking his head. "We always have a choice."Not this time."Layla stood at the far side of the war room, staring down at the map stretched across the wood table. The enemy's supply lines ran deep-carefully planned, well-guarded. Cutting them off wouldn't just weaken their hold on the siege. It could turn the tide completely. But it had to be done right.Layla dug her fingers into the surface of the table, her mind racing. "Infiltration won't be the hard part," she said finally. "It's getting back out."Tyrrell smirked. "Good thing I like a challenge."Elias wasn't amused. "This isn't a game."Layla raised her head, her gaze sharp. "That's enoug
" They are out there."Layla did not need Tyrrell to tell her that. She could feel it- the weight in the air, thick with expectation. The enemy forces had moved like murk in the night, girding the fort with ruthless perfection. Now they were staying, watching, tensing the mesh. She stood at the edge of the stone wall, surveying the treeline beyond the open field. The torches lining their defenses flitted, their light slightly pushing back the darkness." How numerous?" she asked, voice low.Tyrrell exhaled through his nose, his expression grim." further than we can count from over then. They have cut off every possible escape route. We are boxed in."A muscle in her jaw ticked." No reinforcements?"Tyrrell shook his head." Nothing. No dispatches getting in or out. They have got runners watching every path. The alternate anyone tries to break through, they'll be torn piecemeal."Layla's fingers coiled into fists. This was not just a siege. This was a slow, deliberate suffocation.A fig
" You should not be then." Layla's voice was a whip of sword, slicing through the night. The firelight danced across her face as she goggled at the figure standing just beyond its light. The people behind her were tense, ready to attack at her word, but she raised a hand, averting them. This was n't an ordinary enemy. The man before her took a slow step forward, his movements deliberate, as if testing the weight of her words. His dark eyes glistered with something undecipherable, something Layla did n’t trust.“ I came to talk, ” he said, voice smooth, calm. Too calm. “ That is, unless you’d rather continue this war alone. ”Besides her, Tyrrell shifted, fingers twitching on his belt to where his gun rested." You anticipate us to believe you came then just to sputter, Cassius?" His voice had a healthy quantum of doubt trickling from it.Cassius scowled and crossed his arms over his casket." What can I say? I am feeling generous tonight.Layla studied him, her instincts at war with her
" Move out, now!" Layla's voice cut through the pressure in the camp, sharp and commanding, like a cutter. Her eyes darted over her pack, surveying the faces of those who had gathered. Every one of them stood ready, but she could feel the unease in the air. There was no turning back now.Eerily silent, the camp fell as they came together, importing the storm above them that hung in the air. Everyone knew what was to be gained and lost. Every wolf, every fighter, understood the risk. But there was no fear. Not yet. Layla refused to let in the fear. Not today." Ready?" she rumoured, her voice low but indeed. She scrutinized around, again coming to rest on the figure that stood beside her- Jace deposited himself at her side, was formerly holding his armament, his eyes sharp and focused." Ready as we'll ever be," Jace said, slightly above a murmur in the still air." They are coming. Got to move out."In one nippy stir, Layla gave the order, and the pack surged forward. The earth sounded
" You ready?" Jace's voice was low, the question carrying an edge to it that had not been there ahead. It was the kind of question you ask when you know the answer is everything.Layla did not say anything right down. She dragged on the strips of her gear, and her fritters squeezed tight around the hilt of the brand hanging at her side. She felt its weight all the weight, really, of everything that had brought them to this point every decision, every fight, every defeat leading up to now. And the storm was about to hit.Just get this over with," she murmured, further to herself than to Jace. But he heard it, and the nod he gave her was slightly distinguishable. He knew what she was allowing, perhaps indeed better than she did. They were standing in the camp, the fire fluttering low, the air thick with tension. A many of the other wolves were scattered around, stropping weapons, agitating strategies in hushed tones. But Layla was not concentrated on them. Her eyes were fixed on the hor
"Where is he?"Layla's voice cut into the thick, heavy silence like a blade that had been whetted by the weight it carried within this war room. The room itself was dark-the only light an occasional flickering from the low-burning fire, dancing in shadows across old stone walls. Hard, cool eyes stared without blinking at a map laid flat before her; crumpled, yet serviceable. Plans were being rehashed, people regrouped, and answers were needed. The injuries to Tyrrell had been grievous, and still convalescing, he would not be much help in times to come anytime sooner. Finally, out of danger but still with dark circles beneath his eyes and shallow jerks of breath with movement, he did little good for Layla, who was running out of time after all-not with the threat of war looming in every direction. One of her most trusted warriors, Jace, spoke up, his voice low but firm. "Dorian's families holed up at their estate, a few miles to the west. But it's heavily guarded. No one's gotten in si
Layla felt her instincts kick in as she and her team moved through the dense forest. The air was heavier than it should be, thick with a silence that unnerved her. Even the leaves rustling sounded like they held their breath. She knew something was off, but she wasn't quite sure what. Yet."Something's off," she muttered, scanning around them.Tyrrell, walking a few paces ahead, didn’t respond right away. He was always the more level-headed of the two. “Keep moving,” he finally said, his voice steady, though his own sharp eyes darted to the treeline. “We’ve been through worse.”Layla nodded, but the knot in her stomach constricted. Every part of her was screaming that they were walking right into a trap-a trap she hadn't seen coming, not this one, not from this ally. But with the first chopper sound wave, her thoughts flashed to Dorian-a wolf, one of their staunchest allies who'd fought with them for months-run through her brain. He's the one brought the intel-insisted this route woul
“You’re sure this is the place” Layla asked, her voice tight with a blend of jitters and determination. She squinched low, her eyes surveying the darkened landscape beyond the trees, where the faintest figure of the enemy's fort impended. The night was still, save for the occasional howl of leaves. The air felt thick, as if it was holding its breath.Tyrrell jounced. His aspect cut through the murk sprucely." The information's good. The rogue wolves we've encountered are from this area. We cannot let them get any further, Layla. We need answers."Layla's jaw tensed, her heart pounding in her chest. also, we take them, she said, her voice firm. We get the answers we need, and we do it presto.Tyrrell's eyes darted to her." Stay focused. We need to move still. She smelled her teeth but said nothing. It had been a long way, and the last thing she wanted was to peril this chance at getting inside enemy home. Every step had been calculated, every moment measured. The enemy's operations wer
