Chapter 1.
Bella's pov.Walking out of the school gate only to realize I have spent the most hours of my entire day within the school vicinity, all on what? Studying. It has always been my aim to be at the top of the class but who cares about that but me alone?I fished out my phone from my bag and decided to call an Uber but then I halted midway; this could be the perfect time to have the feeling of freedom under the blue moon that illuminated the street reminding me that once it still shines it will always be my companion. Regardless of that, it will only take me a few minutes before I get home, why call for an Uber within a couple of minutes just a few differences in the time?I looked around the area and realized that the space seems empty and quiet; my perfect preference for atmosphere: peaceful and quiet. I hummed and put on my headphones listening to my favorite artist; Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy with the artist name xxx . Lost in his music I have no connection with my surroundings. No hint of what is about to come, suddenly, a hand reached out from behind me and covered my mouth, muffling my painful scream. I could feel my heart racing as if this was the last day on earth, and my backpack was yanked away from me. The attacker dragged me towards a dark alley, and I saw the silhouette of a car speeding toward them. The next thing I knew, I was shoved into the backseat of the car, and the door slammed shut. I could smell cigarettes and whiskey, And then I heard the voice of a man sitting beside me."Good evening, Bella," he said, his voice honeyed and smooth. "I apologize for the rough handling, but you must understand this is for your good. If you felt offended by the way my men approached you, I sincerely apologize for their rude behavior."I was shocked as I saw the figure before me wearing a dark side revealing just his true self, it is none other than the self-renowned ominous character of our society; Mat, the notorious mafia boss who ran the town. My father had told me stories about him, and I had seen his face on the news. He was the most wanted criminal in the region, and people spoke about him in hushed tones."Where are you taking me?" I demanded, my heart racing while my eyes traveled around the car, trying to scrutinize the whole thing."To a place where you will be safe," Mat said, giving me a sly grin. "And besides, someone like you should not be wandering all alone on the streets at night. You know?"I wasn't listening anymore. I tried to think of a way to escape, but there was no way out of the car; every door was securely locked. I was trapped, and my mind was racing, wondering what would happen in the next few minutes. How did I regret not calling the Uber!, I should have and I would be spared the turmoil and pains I am going through nowThe car kept moving for what felt like hours, at this point, I am super terrified as it seems I am being transported to the outskirts of the city. I was tired, scared, and confused, but Mat spoke to me with a touch of chivalry and charm, as if he was trying to win me over. He told me I had nothing to fear, and that he had no intention of hurting me. But I knew better than to trust a criminal. Not someone who was feared by the whole community.Like an answered unsaid prayer, the car came to a halt somewhere, and I was pulled out of the backseat and taken inside a massive mansion. I tried looking around to see if I could recognize the area but with just a single glance I realized it was nowhere to be seen. The place was elegant and luxurious, with marble floors, tall ceilings, and artwork adorning the walls. Mat led me into a room that looked like a princess's bedroom. There was a canopy bed with silk sheets, a vanity with a bouquet of flowers, and an open balcony that overlooked a garden of blooming roses. My room at home was, of course, better than this but I had to just admit that this room was nice too."Make yourself at home," he said with a flourish, "I'll have someone fetch you something to eat. You must be starving."I was too stunned to move. I watched as Mat walked out of the room and locked the door behind him. I am now a prisoner in a beautiful palace, and there was no way out for me.I spent days in the house watching movies, playing video games, and also occasionally Mat allowed me to have calls with my close friends but only under close supervision, yeah I know his plan; to make this look more real and make me believe he is protecting me from something whereas this is plain abduction. He will occasionally ask me if I want anything to munch on, no matter how impossible the task I gave he always finds a way to pleasure me. No, I won't succumb to him and give in to his wicked plans.Constantly have been trying to escape this area but no matter what I never made it past the hallway. This house is super secured and no one out of the other realm can discover this.. I suppose. Even with the phone with me all the time there seems to be no way for me to communicate with the outer world unless the time is allowed to, any other time apart from that there is no internet or connection server available. Am just cut off from the world into this new world. As I presumed I overheard some of the workers speaking about an arranged handsome, surely that is about me. I guessed right I'm just like a pawn in a Maths game and I walked into the trap directly but no I am not giving up.Surely my father is one of the wealthiest businessmen in the city, and Mat's men must have known they could get a fortune if they held me for ransom. But I am not going to let that happen. I know my father would pay any amount but being held captive like that was too much. I had to act, or I would be forced to live the life of a hostage. That night, when Mat came to bring my dinner, I attacked him. Using all the self-defense techniques I learned during my martial arts courses. I hit him with a lamp and shattered it over his head. He was so taken aback that he didn't expect the attack, but I am not stopping. I kicked him in the stomach, and Mat fell to the ground, groaning in pain. His men heard the noise from outside and ran in there but the door was locked from behind and they couldn't come in.I looked around and saw Mat's phone on the floor, I picked it up thinking maybe it was only my phone that was jammed. Trying to open it or discover it locked, I was confused about what to do next, the guards outside were banging the door. It is only a matter of time before the door is broken, and I guessed right. The door hit the ground and made a loud noise and the guards rushed in. It was at this moment I realised Mat is bleeding profusely, I was terrified and stood there in shock realizing I did all this.“How dare you! Who do you think you are?" Someone yelled at me. He was fuming and I felt like he was strangling me right away when he hit me on my cheeks. He raised his arm and threw it across my face again but he was stopped by Mat.“What are you all doing here? Get out of this room right away. I can handle this myself." He yelled at them, placing his palm on his forehead.“Sir, are you sure you can handle this on your own? Do you realize that this lady made this for you?" One of them said as he headed towards the door reluctantly.Mat wiped away the blood on his forehead and approached me, who had started shuddering in trepidation and tears trickling down my eyes out of fear. I can see the terror in Mat's eyes as he walked towards me. I knew she was doomed. Each time Mat took a step forward, I would take a step back until I was hurdled by the wall behind me. Mat grabbed my chin and raised my head, to look directly into his eyes. He smiled gently and it was obvious that he was still in pain. “Bella, can I tell you something?"I could not respond to this. I was more nervous when I saw Mat smirking now then. I knew he had a bigger plan for me now but I didn't know what it was.“Can I tell you that you are not only beautiful but you are a very brave girl? And I love that about you. Keep it up." He said and slowly released my chin, making me fall back to the ground. I looked up at him to see what he was planning to do next. He turned around and headed to the doorway but suddenly again, he turned back to me causing me to look away.“I think I have to go treat myself for now. I am feeling giddy, I have lost so much blood, okay dear? And yes, you too... You haven't had your dinner. That's it on your table. You can have it once you are done." He said and walked out of the room, without closing the door. I was utterly confused by what just happened and I don't know how to react to it. Did he just spare me after all I did to him? Or was he coming back to torture me? No!This was not possible, I thought, shaking my head from side to side. I looked around the room, knowing that Mat could not just let go of me without doing anything to me. What could his next plan be?Chapter 2.Bella's pov.I woke up only to meet the strange environment pictures in my head, accompanied by this terrible headache and tones of echoes ringing in my head. Using my hands to support my head, I looked around. I tried to sit up on the bed but then I discovered my hands and had been tired up to some limitations. Blinking several times, I tried to remember what had happened, but my mind was blank.I took a deep breath and tried to sit up, but my hands and feet were tied to the bed frame. Panic set in as I struggled to free myself. The door creaked open, and a man walked in, his face obscured by the shadows."Well, well, well, Sleeping Beauty is finally awake," the man said in a smooth, silky voice."Who are you, and why am I here?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady. The man chuckled. He knew I had forgotten the entire scene. That was what he wanted because he didn't want to live with the guilt of attacking me. "Now, now, no need to be rude. I'm Mat, and you, my dear
Chapter 3.Bella's pov.I can't just believe why he kept his intentions from me when he will still have to reveal them. I can boldly recall the smile on his face as he left my room that day and for days now he has not shown up. How can I even notice he has not shown up around this area? Am supposed to be stuck to my escape plan and here I am realizing he is away for some time now.His workers had taken over with getting me my food and providing my other necessities, I can't say I miss him as I am not supposed to but there is this feeling in me that something seems different. As usual since the last time it was time for me to have my walk around the vicinity but this time I have the chance to only go up to the kitchen. Getting there I decided to cook something for myself, since I have less than an hour I decided to do a light dish. "It's not quite the right moment to bring things to a close, Bella. I have plans that require you to stay alive... for now, at least," he announces. My voice oozes with defiance as I respond, "Do whatever you want, but remember this: I won't let myself become a weapon against my father." Mat's eyes sweep over the room, his gaze fixating on his comrades. A mischievous grin forms before he starts moving towards me, stumbling like a drunkard. When he reaches me, he kneels down, pointing his gun."Look around, sweetheart, and grasp the reality of our predicament. You're just a pawn in this game. Don't try to be the fierce tiger; it won't end well for you. There are consequences you're not prepared to face right now. Relax and go with the flow. Now that you understand wh
Chapter 5.Mat's Pov.As I stood there with a sly smile spread across my face, I couldn't help but relish the fear that emanated from her. Bella, trembling before me, seemed to be teetering on the edge of panic, and I must admit, I rather enjoyed it. There's a certain power in instilling fear, in watching someone's composure crumble like a sandcastle against the relentless tide.I leaned in, lowering my voice to a hushed, sinister tone, and asked, "Why so scared, Bella?" My words hung in the air, a tangible threat that seemed to make her shiver even more. But instead of responding, she chose to turn and walk away. Perhaps she thought distance would shield her from the invisible web I was weaving around her, but little did she know that in this game, there was no escape.Behind her, Vito, my ever-loyal companion, flashed a disapproving smile and chimed in, "Mat, you should stop scaring the poor girl." He always had a sense of compassion that I often found tedious. In his eyes, fear was
Chapter 6.Bella's Pov.I couldn't escape the persistent feeling of concern that had crept deep inside me as I received the vehicle key from Mat. I walked out of the room, gripping it tightly in my palm, my heart pounding with a mix of worry and optimism. The car was ready for me, its sleek bodywork shimmering in the dim light. It was a stark contrast to the ominous surroundings I had just left. When I arrived and stood next to the vehicle, though, a sense of foreboding washed over me.Mat leaned casually on the car's hood, his wicked grin on his face. His looks did not happen by coincidence.
