AFTER DRIVING INTERSTATE for over 7 hours, I found myself navigating my way in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I kept on reciting the address mother had forwarded to me after the call yesterday like that would help me see the house faster.
I could not help but notice the basketball arts and street basketball courts. "Man, people around here must love basketball." I noted to myself, nodding to the beat of music blasting from my speakers as I cruised along.
Why do I have a feeling that I'm lost?
I snatched picked up my phone from the passenger seat and searched for directions to get to the house and saw that it was just about 15 minutes away.
I followed the direction and got to the big one-storey, victorian style house with white-washed paint. I eased my car to the sidewalk and parked, relishing the feeling of finally getting to my destination.
According to mum's phone call yesterday, nobody should be at home. My step-brothers should be arriving tomorrow.
That was fine by me.
Being alone does not bother me. That was one reason I could drive from Toronto to Philadelphia.
I grabbed my handbag and walked up to the doorstep. I rang the bell, just for the sake of it and as expected, there was no answer, I opened the door slightly and peeked in.
Yup, I am in the right place. Mother's pictures adorned the wall. I gently ran my hand along the frame of a large picture of Mum and her husband, Dan. She looked so happy. They both looked happy.
But no picture of Dan's sons. My new stepbrothers.
I sighed and walked back to my truck. I hung my camera - my most prized possession - around my neck and went to the back to carry my boxed items containing books and other random pieces of stuff.
The box was quite heavy but I managed to manoeuvre my way into the house and up the stairs. I peeked through all the rooms till I saw one that looked free.
I dropped my box and sat on the bed to ease my back and legs. A massage would be very welcomed.
What better way to ease stress than large male hands, massaging every part of your body, starting from your legs, to your calves…
I was jolted out of my reverie by the sight of a man standing and filling up the frame of the doorway
"Sorry, I didn't know the room was taken," I said, reaching down to pick up my box.
"You must be Cassandra, Marilyn’s daughter." He had an amused look on his face as he walked into the room, looking around.
Wait what? IS HE ONE OF MY MOM’S HUSBAND'S SONS?
I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at the figure of perfection.
“I'm Jared." He extended his hand for a handshake.
I took the hand. It was soft and warm, just the type of hands fit for a massage. The handshake sent electrifying sensations to my head and I felt a zap of attraction run through my whole body.
He raised my hand in his and kissed it, inhaling fondly before he licked my middle finger. All the while, keeping our gazes locked.
I released an involuntary gasp and released his hand.
"You don't have to take your things." Jared said. "I'll move to another room… if we can't share this one." He gestured with his head to the one bed in the room.
I looked at him in shock.
"Ease up, I'm joking." His laughter sent me panicking because it was turning me on. "Not really though,” his eyes trailed to my fingers which were in his mouth a minute ago.
This guy is ‘trouble’ Bad trouble.
"My mother said you won't be arriving till tomorrow." I said to him, raising a confused brow.
"Well, yes. But plans changed. We arrived this morning. Are these all your things?" We? ALL of them?
"I have some left in the trunk." I said in what I hoped was a calm tone.
"Let's go. I'll help you with them." He led her downstairs.
"You'll meet my brothers soon. I'm the one in the middle." Jared said, easily lifting a huge box from my trunk while I carried my laptop bag in one hand and my suitcase in the other. "Jason is the older one. Bossy son of a bitch." He gave a small chuckle. "Jake is the younger one."
"You guys are triplets?" I asked.
He nodded in affirmation. "Yeah."
I groaned inwardly. If his brothers were half as hot as him, then there was going to be a problem keeping my libido at bay.
We put my things in the room. "I see you're into photography." He nodded at my camera hanging around my neck. His eyes lingered on my cleavage and I watched them twinkle with lust.
I was not sure if it was on the camera or my breasts through my semi-transparent clothes.
"A Nikon 370." He commented. "Sharp."
Okay, he was looking at the camera, not my breasts. I concluded inwardly.
"I got it a few months ago. Right after college graduation." I told him.
"Are you good with it?" He asked.
"Yes, sure." I sat on the bed and patted the space beside me. "Here. Sit, let me show you some works."
He obliged and sat beside me.
I opened my laptop and scrolled through the pictures I had taken during the fall. Our knees were touching and I was fully conscious of the contact.
"They're beautiful." He said, then looked up. Our faces were inches apart. "But not as beautiful as the lady that took them." He murmured softly in my ears.
I felt a blush run up my neck and I started to look down to close the laptop, and stand up but was halted when Jared set his hand beneath my jaw and gently forced me to look at him. He placed his other hand on my lap to keep me in place but it caused waves of heat and pleasure to radiate from that spot of his hand.
"We should go downstairs, maybe…" I started to say.
Jared closed the gap between us, his eyes burrowing into mine, creating a sudden sexual tension in the pit of my stomach. Stupid but I was expecting him to claim my lips with his, but instead he just brushed a kiss against my cheek.
“Expecting something else?”Jared laughed and I felt my nipples puckered.
“No, of course,” I quickly refuted. Praying he couldn't smell my arousal as shifted uncomfortably on the bed. Damn. This is what happens if you haven't been laid in a while…
I took a sharp breath when his hand ran up my lap and settled in the deep warmth between my legs causing me to squirm and moan against his mouth.
He pulled away and I opened my eyes just in time to see his eyes change from a golden yellow to dark brown.
Golden yellow eyes?
It must have been some kind of reflection from light. It's not because he is aroused or something, right?
"Welcome to the family, Cassandra," Jared smirked, getting up and putting his hand in his pocket to hide his obvious erection.
"You should not have done that," I said, getting up after him, my face red from embarrassment. "We're step-siblings." And why was I feeling aroused from just a peck?
"No." He said that with a very strong voice. "My Dad married your mother and that's where it all ends. My offer to share the room still stands."
I gave a stunned chuckle.
"Come, I hear my brothers downstairs. Let's go and meet them." He held out his hand.
After a moment's hesitation, I took his hand and felt the electricity again as he pulled me up and we both went downstairs just as his brothers were coming in.
At one glance at them, I groaned.
With only a slight difference in height, beards, and weight, they were all hot.
"Guys…" Jared called, running ahead of me and gesturing to his brothers. "Cassandra, that's Jason."
The broader and most muscular one turned and sneered. "You smell like sex." he hissed at me.
I was stunned at his words but he paid my stunned expression no mind as he brushed past me and walked up the stairs.
Jake stepped forward. He was the youngest but I could still see the contempt shining in his eyes as he shook my hand. "She turns out to be pretty. Means her mum is the odd one." He said before he dropped my hands like a hot potato and walked back out the door.
I looked at Jared who gave me a sad smile and shrugged slightly.
I stood frozen in the spot because I still couldn't believe that my mom is married to the father of the hottest brothers I'd ever met.
I TRIED TO stay away from the triplets for the rest of the day. I stayed locked in my room, trying to keep myself busy by editing some pictures. I surely did not want anything to do with those men. Apart from the fact that they were rude, they had the type of looks that your mother warned you about. I considered calling my mum, but I did not. Who knows what I might be interrupting? I laid face down on my belly, thinking of Toronto and Mum. I remembered the call I had with her some days ago when she told me about my step-brothers. "They're not… your regular type of guys, to say the least." That was what she had said. It was all making sense now. The golden brown eyes when he was aroused... Jason's comment about me, smelling like sex. He must have perceived the arousal I got from getting turned on by his brother.Of course, they were not my regular type of guy… they must be fucking werewolves or something. But then, how would I know? I've never been out of the Coven.I was still
My mother married a Lycan?! Double fuck! "Whatever it is you're doing will not work" Jason asserted and paused for a while. Obviously relishing in his victory. "I asked what the fuck you want!" I demanded once again. "Well, for starters, you are going to convince your mother to end this marriage between her and father." He said. "Me? Convince my mother?" I was dumbfounded. “Wasn’t it your father who proposed?" or did I hear the story wrongly? "Yeah, manipulation. He was manipulated by your witchy mother." Jake snarled above me. He tightened his grip on my wrist. "My mother isn't even a witch and you know that!" I yelled at him. "I don't care." Jason said. "You are going to do as I say. You don't have a choice." With that, he walked back to his seat and cut up his steak. "I believe you have burnt up my food." He said absent-mindedly as Jake let go of me. I got up and rubbed my wrists. I could see angry red marks of red on my skin. "Sit and eat your food." Jason gestured an
I DON'T KNOW much about lycans because they are rarer than werewolves. They were even rumoured to have gone extinct. But from the few hours I've spent with them, I've had a little more knowledge about them than I had before. I've always known that, unlike werewolves, lycans do not shift completely into wolves. Their paranormal form is a humanoid wolf. A pretty monstrous sight. I read somewhere that their connection with the moon goddess was also not as strong as that of werewolves and it was the reason they don't shift uncontrollably and howl at the full moon. I know they were stronger than werewolves. How much stronger? I wasn't aware of that. All I knew was, a werewolf would have whimpered in pain at my spell - I had seen My father bat off hordes of Vampires with just that spell - but these ones just shook it off like it was nothing. Or maybe I just wasn't good at making that kind of effect with magic yet. No pressure though. At least, I could finally feel the magical energ
I maneuvered my way with little magic so I was resting my back against a tree. Jared deepened the kiss, my hand went around his neck and up his hair. He left my lips and went to nibble at my throat. Waves of pleasure washed around me as he took little nips along my collarbone, my chin… I arched my back against him when his hand went to the button of my jeans and when he touched my clit, I let out a hearty moan and squirmed. I opened my eyes to see him looking at me. There was the question in his eyes. I wrapped my legs around his waist and kissed him again. That must have answered his question because he doubled the fervor which he used to kiss me. “Your room?" He asked against my neck. "Too far." I mumbled. He nodded and proceeded to lower me to the ground filled with dry leaves and hummus. His hand was on my jeans again when we heard a ruffled and then a conversation trailing into our ears. “...what do you think the witch will taste like?”“...shut up you pussy eater?” I h
I woke up the next morning with determination flooding in my veins, thanks to Jared. All my life, I've never really bothered to test my strength and magical abilities. I just assumed that I was the weakest of the weak, due to my low magical energy.I was unable to draw out energy from natural sources like others which caused me to be a burden on the Coven. They regarded me as useless, throwing me aside and going about with their own duties. They didn't give a fuck if I had manifested some powers. No, they didn't. It didn't help that my mom was ignorant about magic too.And thinking about it made my motivation flare up even more. If I had honed my powers earlier on, I'd be more powerful and stronger than I was now. But, I won't think of the past now. I had to prove myself to be worthy. I had to prove to Jason that I wasn't a "weak human" as he claimed.I quickly got out of bed, heading straight into the bathroom to get rid of my morning breath. I took a quick shower too, putting on a b
Loud yells filled the whole house. I stood in my suite— rather, what was left of it, frozen in fear. Jason had barely managed to get away from me, his rage nearly overflowing from his body. After his threat of punishment, I didn't think I would get out of this unscathed. I didn't mean for my powers to go haywire and cause this much destruction! I clutched my camera to my chest, as I quietly made my way over to where the noise was coming from.I peeked into the room slightly, catching a glimpse of a furious Jason pacing around with a frustrated look on his face. A brunette man with sharp features stood over at the edge of the room. I could remember him from the meeting last night. His name was Emery, I guess? I wasn't quite clear on it. I did know, however, that he was the Beta to Jason from their earlier conversation I vaguely remembered."... she fucking almost lit the whole house on fire! We were all staying in his house, peacefully, when we smelt smoke! Now half of her suite is d
A deep frown settled on my face. You have to be fucking kidding me. What sort of ultimatum was this? Pay for the damage I've caused or have sex with them? What bullshit is that? Does he think I'm that desperate to jump their bones? Yes, I did find them attractive and I've thought of them in sexual ways, but that didn't mean I was that depraved."What the hell? No. I don't care how much it is, I'll pay," I glared up at him. He smirked, shrugging a little at my answer. "Of course. Well, the total of the damages would amount to...maybe over a million or more? And that's just for the room alone, not to talk of our damaged items," I blanched at that. A million? Where was I going to get the money from? Do I get a job? But then, how long would it take for me to pay it off?Jason cackled sadistically, with an amused glint in his eye. "I can almost see the calculations going off in your head. You know, if you agree to be with us exclusively, you won't have to worry about anything. Everything
I took in deep breaths. Tonight was the night I would give myself to the triplets and I felt I was ready for it. Butterflies exploded in my stomach the more I thought of it. When I think of what they will do to me, my body trembles with extreme sexual excitement. I have been daydreaming about it all day and now it is coming to a reality.Today was something else, excuse this morning… I had finally got to see a side of Jake that wasn't rude and aggressive and I liked it. I like being around him as much as I like being around Jared, and I find myself wondering what his touches would feel like, what his lips would taste like and how they would feel against mine…I just couldn't stop these thoughts from filling my head. The passion in his eyes when he stares at me, his confession, everything aroused me more than I wanted. After I got out of the dressing room earlier, I had to get a grip on myself, acting as if nothing happened. He paid for the clothes and we got back into the car and we
***Our honeymoon at the resort was nothing short of a paradise. It was wonderful being able to flaunt my husbands out to everyone without living in fear of what people would say anymore. There was the occasional criticism from strangers, but it’s nothing that I couldn’t handle, especially not with my six-foot and above husbands threatening to destroy anyone that antagonizes me on sight.Husbands. The title made me giggle. In a paranormal sense, they were my mates and we were bonded on a more spiritual level than what the basis of marriage was, but it made me happier to call them my husbands, especially since it’s not far from the truth either. They even went as far to give me rings, three of them, which I wore each day and alternated when I felt like it.I was genuinely happy. I loved my life now and I wished my joy would never end. We ate together each morning and went sightseeing, sometimes we would lounge on the beach, and at other times we would go to the mall to shop or to the
It’s been months since the ordeal. Exactly three months since Jake and Jared regained their consciousness and opened their eyes from the coma. I sighed, watching the ocean crash against the shore in slow, rhythmical movements, enjoying the salty sea breeze. I had my mating ritual a week ago and currently we are on our honeymoon. I wouldn’t say that life had been easy on us, reaching up to this point, but I was just grateful that finally, I had my moment of peace and love. When the two of them woke up from their week-long torpor, they were happy, albeit, some of the Lycans took this as a chance to condemn us all. Apparently, the word that the four of us were in a relationship had spread like a wildfire, though we weren’t trying to hide it after the whole event. There was a huge amount of backlash and even when we explained to them that we were mates and even threw in the Red String of Fate theory to them, most of them ignored it and chose not to believe us. It was at that moment th
“Gilda. Let’s not go into hasty decisions,” Jason started calmly as if her words didn’t affect him in the slightest. “You’re an adult and honestly I’m fine with any decision that you make and whatever you find is best for you. I will respect it nevertheless. But do not bring that child into the equation, okay? Leave your baby out of it,” he pointed to her stomach sternly, his eyes narrowed to slits. Her gaze went defensive once again. “What are you talking about—”“Like I said, I will respect your decision, but leave the baby out of it. The baby has to be born before you carry out any plans you have in mind. Because I don’t think Emery would appreciate you doing that to your child, when he was so excited to see them,” Jason said, with an air of finality in his voice. His face and voice were cold and cutting, but it was just exactly what Gilda needed. She didn’t want any pity remarks or sympathetic looks thrown her way, she needed the reality check and Jason gave it to her on a cold pl
Beep. Beep. Beep. The heart monitor beside the hospital beds beeped simultaneously, both soothing and disturbing at the same time. It pained me to see them lying motionless on the beds, but at the same time, I felt a sense of relief, just knowing that they were alive. It was good enough for me. The high-pitched electronic sound was my only hope in the dark. It was the anchor that was keeping me afloat. Without those two shrill sounds, I don’t know what I would do…It has been a week since the war. A week since we buried Dan, Emery and the rest of the people that died in the war. Surely enough, the whole community was thrown into a frenzy. Wails and tears everywhere for their loved ones and families, all the lycans were thrown into despair and devastation. I was still numb from the whole thing. I couldn’t even process that Dan and the others were gone, it all still felt imaginary, like a sick nightmare that I was ready to wake up from. To top it all off, Jake and Jared are in a coma
Jason’s words rang through my head like a siren and I stared at him in disbelief. I couldn’t believe my ears. I couldn’t believe that he would say that and give me up so easily. I looked at Jared and Jake, seeing their faces contorted in pain and agony, that I could also feel from the throbbing of my heart. They were slowly dying. If they don’t get those chains off of them soon, they will die. As disappointed and hurt as I was, listening to Jason’s negotiation, I understood that it was the best alternative.Damien looked surprised, yet at the same time he looked morbidly pleased with the turn out, as if he was expecting Jason to surrender in the first place. “Well, it’s up to you Cassandra. Do you agree to be with me in return for the release of your lovers, or if you want, I could kill them all right in front of you. Choose your pick,” he grinned at me, like he was telling a joke only he knew. I was disgusted.I looked at Jason once again, my chest heavy laden and heartbroken as I tu
Jason instantly turned to the man, giving him his full attention, but I, on the other hand, was finding it hard to keep my blush down. Was Jason just about to say that he loved me? I shook my head and tried to focus on the conversation in front of me. Now wasn’t the time.“…the helicopter is here to pick you up sir,” the Lycan said and that snagged me out of the previous thoughts I was having. “Good. Tell the pilot that I’ll be there soon,” Jason ordered, dismissing the man before turning to me. My stomach churned a bit and I had an idea of what he was about to say next. “Cassandra…I know you may not like this, but I would have to ask you to sit this one out—”“No,” I folded my arms across my chest and flared up at him. I can’t believe that he would tell me something like that. He opened his mouth to insist again, but I shut him down faster than he would have liked. He frowned this time, keeping his expression stern, though I knew that he wasn’t really annoyed with me, he just wante
Damien folded his arms, looking nonchalant and unscathed in the face of the catastrophe all around him. Blood spilled and splattered everywhere, guts and internal juice as well and the smell of smoke and ash with each breath he took. He barely made moves to kill anyone, watching as his men sliced, cut down and were also cut down by their opponents.Any onlooker who was watching Damien would see and notice his calm demeanor, but on the inside, Damien was fuming. One would think that he would be happy from all the chaos caused by him and the upper hand he had against the Lycans, but they would be wrong. He was in a rageful fit.It had been hours since he arrived in the Lycan Territory and began killing his way into the heart of it all. It had also been hours since he got feedback that Cassandra wasn’t even in the Territory at the moment, that she had been long gone since, even before the war started, so there was no chance of chasing after her even if he wanted to. He had tried to pry t
“What?!” Jason growled, the sound reverberating through my bones and it was not in the soothing way I was used to. He was pissed. The veins by the sides of his temple grew prominent the angrier he got, bulging in time with the ones around his arms and muscles. On any other day, I would have taken the time to admire them, but now wasn’t the right time to. My eyes sought his pleadingly, however, he was too far gone in his anger to even see me. “Do you know how risky and dangerous it was, keeping this secret from us?! I can’t fucking believe that you knew this for so long, yet you kept it from us! What the fuck were you thinking?! Do you know if the warlock had bad intentions towards you? Or what…do you really think that you can go toe to toe with him? Cassandra, I know that you are strong, I have seen your abilities and I don’t doubt your strength in any way or form. But I’ve seen his powers first hand and I’m very sure he could overpower you if he wanted to. That’s not even the point
Swoosh. My head felt like jelly as something akin to a rush of wind passed through my brain, leaving me lightheaded. Behind my eyelids, light in circular rings passed through them like a hypnotic wave, forcing me in it, as if trapping me and truly, that’s how I felt. The bed underneath me disappeared and though I felt stable, it seemed like I was floating on air. Even Jason that was in front of me had disappeared, leaving a trail of pixel-like splatters in his place. It was confusing, yet I couldn’t break my focus.Soon, the white light was replaced with multiple films of images swirling all around me. I frowned, wondering they were and what they could mean to me, when a sudden sense of nostalgia and deja vu hit me like a truck. I realized that in these moving images all around, each of them held a picture of me or rather, a memory of me. The ones where I was happy, the moments when I was sad, ones when I was angry, each of them were all inarguably me. It was bizarre, but then everyt
