Evelyn's pov

I was about to leave when my father called me back and he told me that he had some questions for me as well and I felt my body tense up. I reluctantly agreed and turned around hoping that he would not ask me any questions that would put me in a tough position. I was hoping to confront him to get him to tell the truth if that was really the truth.

Just before my father could say anything the door was plastered open by one of the guards and he looked at him with surprise, the guard was sweating as he related that there was a commotion in front of the mansion, that a huge crowd of people had gathered in and he could not tell the reason why but in case it was a violent one we had to be protected.

I furrowed my eyebrows with annoyance.

“What are you talking about? If there is an issue then I'm supposed to be there to deal with it, don't worry Father there shouldn't be a reason for a mob outside, so I'm going to just check, I'm sure it's nothing violent,”
