Evelyn's pov

It always of a couple of seconds and my father was already at the door, he ushered me in and he could understand the signal in my eyes that I didn't want the other person that was next to me to follow in as well, so he quickly came and casually blocked the entrance to his office when his stepson was actually trying to make an attempt to come in.

“Kelvin, I'm sorry but if you want to speak to me you will have to come another time,”. From over his shoulder, I could see this disappointment that was written all over his face. He really thought that he was going to step in with me. I guess he needed to be shut down like this because I was telling him he looked ridiculous and I could see his face getting red.

“Oh, I can stand outside until you're done…”

I rubbed my fingers against my forehead at this point. This guy could not really read a hint even when it was thrown right at his face. Even my father, who was usually a fountain of patience, was not like that to him today.
